    For a lil advise a quarter drive with a wiggler 13 mm socket works great to get to the lower bolt on the thermostat and my experience the 180 thermostats work Great over the 192 and 195 thermostats and with a workin vacuum advance at ported vacuum the Ford small blocks come alive nicely from the 289 up to the 351 Windsor just a lil advice for your readers out there and thx for your video

      Appreciate it bud, I never thought about using a 1/4 inch drive, I’ll have to remember that. Yeah usually I run the 180 but for some reason this one wasn’t warming up like it’s supposed to so I bumped it up, but I run the 180 in my 76 ford truck 302. You’re absolutely right about that, those small block run like hell when everything is set up right, thanks for the advice and thanks for watching.

    Thanks for the video my friend. I’m replacing my thermostat in a 63 Ford galaxy. It’s been leaking from the housing. I’m not sure if it’s the O-ring, but I might as well. Just replace it all.

    • @FastFords289
      @FastFords289  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No problem, glad to help, nice car too by the way, always loved those 63,64 galaxies. The original housings didn’t use an oring, they used paper gaskets. I ordered mine off Holly’s website. www.holley.com/products/cooling/water_outlets/parts/2662
      Hope this helps, good luck and thanks for watching.

    .. i use contact cement to hold the thermostat in the housing, i've had too many slip down on me..

    • @FastFords289
      @FastFords289  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Oh yeah that’ll definitely hold it there too, there’s different things to use, I’ve even heard of people using spray adhesive to hold them in. I’ve just always used RTV silicone. All depends on preference but all works the same. Thanks for commenting.

    Hey there that's a good trick putting a hole on the top of the thermostat to let the air out when you put antifreeze in! What part number was that for the thermostat housing? Thanks for the video.

    HELLO FRIEND, WATCHING YOUR VIDEO OF CHANGE THE THERMOSTAT I FOUND THE O-RING THAT I NEEDED, WHAT I LIKED ON YOUR ENGINE IS THE HOSE THAT GOES FROM THE FUEL PUMP TO THE CARBURETOR, THE CHROME ONE IF YOU CAN TELL ME WHAT WEBSITE I CAN FIND IT ON WHICH WOULD BE FANTASTIC TO PUT IT ON MY 79 FORD TRUCK, AAAA I ALREADY SUBSCRIBED TO YOUR PAGE FROM VENEZUELA

      Well I ordered the whole assembly, housing and gasket off of Holley’s website. Mr gasket brand, part# 2662. It was around 20 dollars, very good unit, works really well, I’ve even had it back off and reinstalled with same oring and never leaks. You’re welcome.

      Unfortunately I couldn’t find just the o ring so I’m not exactly sure if the o ring is sold separately, but you could probably find a couple o ring’s that fit and install in the housing and it should work properly. That’s the link to the whole assembly though, hope this helps. Thanks for watching.

      Sorry to hear about the accident, it’s a shame you have people drinking and driving around out there without a care for anybody else. Hope you’re doing well, and glad to hear you found another truck, hopefully it’s a great buy and will be at least just as good as your other truck. Hope this helps, stay safe out there.
