The reason they crush them is to make a point. I worked with a young black guy that had a dirt bike. I asked him where he rode it. He said in his grandmoms yard and on the street. I told him he was missing out. There are places to take dirt bikes and ride all over the mountains, for 5 bucks a day. You can buy a dual sport bike, which is a street legal dirt bike, and put a tag on it and legally ride on roads. These guys that ride ileagally do not know what they are missing out on. Riding dirt bikes is very fun. You just have to do it legally.
So the police chief literally admitted to stealing the bikes when the riders are away... wow... that'll teach them a lesson... smh. @@tomhubbard353 why did u repeat exactly what I said like its confusing? It's to make sure they are actually covered in the time they will use it. Did you see this video? 3/4 of the bikes were scooters, mopeds, and motorcycles. It was literally only a handful of atv's and dirt bikes.
@@Eastsidegeorgiaboy
Regardless the knuckleheads are ruining it for everyone
That’s hilarious... did losing your bike affect your quality of life? I hope you’re still paying impound fees till you scrape it off the lot.
That's a start to a decent summer in NYC, now when you get a hold of the people with guns, keep em.
That's messed up. People are "scared" of these vehicles. This sounds like bs.
That was wrong
😂😂😂
They should left the riders handcuffed to them
Could've had an auction in another city or town 🤷🏾♂️
That would make too much sense
Couldn't NYPD have sold them to developing countries to fund more NYPD? I hear the black market knows an exporter... smh
Rare painting on atv and motorcycles by hunter?
So the police chief literally admitted to stealing the bikes when the riders are away... wow... that'll teach them a lesson... smh. Of all the people you should be trying to make a connection with, you throw a wedge in between yourselves.
'Tell me how to divide the community from the police without telling me how to divide the community from the police'...
exactly, purposely divided!!!! i can see if they were taking lives but they aren’t.
Step 1: Don’t break the law
Bruh bikes not registered, and not paper where it says it’s a vehicle that u can drive in the city.
So yeah happy that finally they doing some cuz, this kids are reckless. If they hit a car a person, they just run away always and can’t do nothing about it.
It's illegal and lawfully confiscated and destroyed. People like you are destroying our city!!!
These comments crack me up. You are literally exemplifying the same attitude as the police. Divide... 👍 Run your mouth on social media but do nothing to combat the issue yourselves. Continue to not reach out to the people with life's issues and you'll continue to get criminals in your city.
Registry law for an off road vehicle? Nope
NYC just needs to sap as much money as physically possible from you
@@dylanc2806 : Drove through their pot hole invested roads the other day passing through. And uh Yep
Not only do they need to make sure they have insurance, but they need to have at least 8 months of it pre-purchased so they can't just cancel payment or whatever
So a person has to pay insurance for 8 months BEFORE they can buy a motorcycle?
What insurance company do you represent?
@@tomhubbard353 why did u repeat exactly what I said like its confusing? It's to make sure they are actually covered in the time they will use it. I used to sell cars and there's nothing stopping someone from canceling the insurance I just set them up with but those are much bigger loans so you're incentivized to maintain it. With these atvs, while still expensive, aren't as big of loans. I'm just saying if they're going to come out with the law they gotta make it work more than "ok thanks for signing up in front of me at the dealer, literally nothing stopping you from just not paying next month"
@@tomhubbard353 also bro look at the video... those aren't motorcycles they're all atvs and dirt bikes come on
They should make mayor McAdams buy dill doe insurance for 8 inches
Why would anyone pay a dealer for insurance on something that is not road legal? If you are making them register and get insurance, then they are definitely going to be perceived as being road legal. Also, people will just get them from out of state. Unless you are going to legally allow them to ride on the street after being registered and insured, there is no reason to do that. Your idea sounds un-American.
I saw the saw the same thing in the Bronx at this gas station at the corner of Cypress and the Brucker Expressway 2 weeks ago. A whole bunch of them.
They'll just buy more, you can't keep a rider from riding.
Whoa so guns too? If a criminal gets caught with a illegal gun and then when he gets released than he will buy another illegal one?
Cant keep a scumbag from being a scumbag
It's like watching children trying to govern.,.....
Good job. Nothing more annoying than coming home after work, only to hear these overaged adults riding around like Mad Max.
Incomprehensible that grown humans would purposely destroy useful items out of spite. Sell them out of state.
Those vehicles could be sold South of the border to put money in our economy in ways that helps our ugly homeless epidemic. FSLN
I agree what a waist
92 atvs and dirt bikes could've earned $10,000+ easy instead of just wastefully destroying them.
@@SeattleMartin Just do an auction and let the buyers haul them out. Somebody would buy an atv for $100. I get what you're saying but that because the govt is notoriously inefficient at doing things that a private sector company could do for a fraction of the cost.
I didn’t like the mayor, but since he is taking crime seriously, he has my support
Wow.. it didn't take long for President Biden to ban bikes
Been waiting for someone else to see FragileJoeBrandon policy in effect so soon
Most of those being crushed looked like mostly harmless scooters, and not dirt-bikes or ATVs. These laws seem to be largely hitting the wrong people.
The circle of crime and job security. Gotta love our POOR country
Can't lie the site and sound of those bike being crushed is oddly satisfying.
It kills my soul to see them being crushed
No wonder the economy is so messed up…
Should've sent them to an out of state auction and you could've used the funds to HELP YOUR CITY🤦🏽 SMDH!
@@SeattleMartin i have never seen a less intelligent creature
@@dylanc2806 true, he's a boomer
Illegal seizure of private property without a warrant, you have the right to travel that's oath of Office violation misconduct due process violation
As our great absentee ballot king would say, It’s all about perception. Use the media to hype up a demolition of 92 dirt bikes in a city of no less than 100,000 of them. And voila... everyone can exhale with two fresh, full months of summer to go 😀.
How do you know how many are on the streets? It says more than 2,000 have been confiscated and I haven’t been seeing them (or hearing them) like I was. So I have noticed a difference.
@@winter_s_44 I know for a fact that 92 doesn’t even form the proverbial drop in the bucket. I suppose you’re smart enough to believe otherwise?!
Take a bike from one of them today and they will just steal another one tonight. Endless cycle.
😭 the pollution and Microplastic So many other ways you could handle this problem
Sell them at a city auction and bring in millions. Destroying them gives the city nothing. Then go after the unlicensed, uninsured car drivers.
They crunched 92 bikes.
If each bike sold for ten grand ( which wouldn't happen ), thats nine hundred, twenty thousand dollars....... Not quite the "millions" you imagined.
That’s a lot of brass for some dirt bikes. They travel in numbers to avoid capture or seizure. Not because they’re criminals.
Driving without insurance is a crime, hit and run is a crime
@@VortexVibe634 I wouldn’t do it today. But I drove with a suspended license for over a year. Ppl with cars break the law. Lol
@@SgtShamar I’m not saying that people with cars don’t break the law, they also do it and they also get their cars impounded and sometimes crushed like those bikes too depending on the crime they’ve committed 😬
Maybe he should go after the criminals with guns? That would improve the quality of life or is that not an option?
it affects the quality of life of New Yorkers this guy has priorities way out of whack
Doing that for the past 6 years hasn't fixed the problem and it is only getting worse with each passing year. He needs a find a real solution and stop wasting taxpayers money for something that is not working. If people were crashing the mayor's car every time they thought he should walk to work. He would have had a solution before he had 2 of his cars crushed!
Destroying bikes is not the solution, in fact it's a just wasteful thinking for the compost heap or in the ocean polluting the water. In the end criminals are going to be criminals, these are not the last bikes to be bought or stolen or rode on NY streets.
Anybody else seeing E-bikes on the highways or is just me?
Why not resell them and donate the money to charity. Destroying them is so wasteful.
Crushing them is hilarious 🍿😂
😂😂😂
As if we don't have enough garbage already. Taking a locked up bike from someone who may not have been a menace is appalling.
@@SeattleMartin I'm 68 years old, had knee surgery Jan 2022, I can barely walk, and I use an electric assist bike that gives me mobility. I guess you'd rather see crippled people in the nursing home.
Ooh ooh do CitiBikes next…
Total waste that won't stop a thing. These bikes are way less dangerous than drunk drivers and people using phones while driving.
Come to Washington Heights late night they make so much noise
Because auctioning them off in an out of state auction, and using the money to reinvest in the city isn't as good as making a big show of nothing.
New York city is having a problem with these bikes....what makes you think any other city is willing to take on NYCs problem?
Keep up the great work NYPD! Let’s get back to the broken windows theory that states: …”Small crimes lead to larger ones!” Get em NYPD!
They should be donated to other countries where farming or impoverished villages could use them for transportation or towing stuff.
Donate them to poor countries,
Who will pay for them to be shipped to ???? Surely not the people of NYC....Best thing is to destroy them
How would they get gas?
USA is getting to be a poor country...
@@wileecoyote5749 this form of transportation is the most fuel efficient way. I can't wait till power goes out and ev are left in the dark literally. Then what will they do? Probably walk or ride a Joe Brandon just like everyone else.
why not donate them to people who need transportation.
They want to make a statement, theyll sell em after this
Walk to work is healthy long walks
The only way to stop this, is by making it a felony!!!!! They're criminals.
You’re just going to have more felons it seems.
Ok Karen
Certainly, the NYPD don't know the difference between , seized drugs and seized bikes .
I agree with some of the comments, auction them off ! I seen one Yamaha Banshee, that alone, $2500 +...SMH. Donate the funds to charity.
Not to mention most of them were highly likely stolen
Beautiful, Washington Heights its out of control.
