    I hate guillotines. I know how to defend the choke so I almost never have to tap to it but that just makes people pull my neck with all their might so now my spine and neck is in constant pain everyday. For some reason I think my head is always out there and people just attack guillotines on me. Any tips on how to avoid that? Maybe head positioning or awareness or something so that I don't get my neck constantly grabbed? Would really appreciate it since I think I already managed to create chronic pain for my neck and spine :D

      @morenoh149 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I'm a beginner but maybe you could keep your hands closer to your neck. Makes it less attractive to go for it if we know its being defended
      I go so far as placing my hand on my neck to push off any limbs

    • @KaninTuzi
      @KaninTuzi ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I have a similar issue, and I think for myself it has been about letting go of my ego and simply tap out when my neck is uncomfortable, even if it's not really a submission. Trying to work on neck strength to be able to handle those situations better.

    • @tnktsinik
      @tnktsinik ปีที่แล้ว

      @@KaninTuzi nah, if i just tapped then I wouldn't have gotten better at defending guillotines

    • @KaninTuzi
      @KaninTuzi ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@tnktsinik I think that in the long run, risking neck injury may set you back more. You may still improve over time by 1) avoiding ending up in that position and 2) strengthening your neck over time to the point where it can handle defending in that position.

    Can't she post with her right hand at 6:30 to defend the sweep ?

    • @KnightJiuJitsu
      @KnightJiuJitsu  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That would be a very bad mistake on her part. The grip and rotational force of the person executing the sweep would severely damage the arm of the person being swept if they attempted to post that arm.

    How do I say that I prefer demos with male partners without sounding creepy (or on the other hand, misogynistic)? I was really interested in the topic, and thank you to the lady for the loose upper gi, but usually I do as the poor lady says at 9:49. Peace be with you both!

    • @someman7
      @someman7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @ja hh Because I am attracted to women, but no woman is my wife. With a male rolling partner I don't have to mind my eyes as much. Ideally I'd be in perfect control of my emotions etc. But unlike Jesus, I am not ideal, and have come to know better than to test myself. In fact, according to The Spiritual Combat, all temptations should be trained in except those of sexual nature - those are battles that need to be avoided to win the war. Matthew 5:29, Job 31:1, Matthew 6:22-23. There, I hope I've answered everything now. :)

      @Kodiak Combat Collective I avoid other channels for this reason. This lady was more modest than others. Her rolling with the man went wrong itself, and she wasn't completely comfortable. That's human nature. Now, women can teach other women, and men can teach other men. That seems a simple enough solution. BTW not to boast but in Jesus only, but my extreme weakness plus discipline kept me chaste for a couple of years now. How's your strength working?

  • @TroyDowVanZandt

    Am I the only one, or is the gratuitous statement made about 9:50 in rather odd? A cursory inquiry revealed that the two are an item. I have watched Gordon Ryan and his squeeze Nathalia Santoro on numerous occasions demonstrate things together, and I cannot recall them going anywhere odd. Perhaps I'm just a staid old geezer.

      Anya and I keep things very lighthearted and silly in training a lot of times and there are constant inappropriate jokes flying around with us and our training partners. It’s a very fun and funny environment to balance out the work we put in constantly. So I left her laughing at my verbiage in the video for a quick outtake so people could be privy to that. It’s all in good fun.
