Yes you can. Please contact your local Janome dealer who will be happy to assist you getting a walking foot for the 709. Please be sure to tell them your model # so that they can sell you the correct one - you need a walking foot for LOW shank 7mm machine model.
Myra Thomas I have just rewatched the video and it is, in fact, correct. The bobbin and thread coming off/hanging down should look like the letter P and indeed, you are correct, once installed the bobbin should turn counter clockwise. The video shows this. It think you may have been referring to the part of the video where she shows how NOT to put your bobbin in?
@@janomelife Thank you so much for your speedy reply. Visually the bobbin thread is in position correctly and the bobbin is installed correctly, yet verbally she is saying clockwise instead of counter-clockwise. Perhaps it's semantics, yet possibly confusing to some new sewists. This instructor has an appealing voice and instructs perfectly other than saying clockwise instead of saying counter-clockwise.
thank you so much! very helpful!
Thank you! This worked for me! I needed a new holder for my thread. The loose one was the problem. !
Can you add a walking foot or even feed foot to the sewist 709 ?

Sorry to be a downer, but the bobbin when installed in the bobbin case, the thread should turn counter-clockwise.
