Definitely a strong and unique looking bike. The seat to ground measurement is greatly appreciated, and would be fine for me, although I know several people that would not fit this. Just as well, as 89 pounds might be a bit much for smaller riders. I prefer half twist throttles on the right, but that's something that could be fixed.
You all probably dont care but does any of you know of a tool to get back into an Instagram account? I stupidly forgot my account password. I would love any help you can give me!
Good review. Mine is set to arrive in July. Could I bring it into the shop so that you guys can put it together for me? May look to add a few accessories as well...
Hi Rob, glad you like the review. Yes, we can assemble the bike and the accessories for you. Please call us at 720-746-9958 to make an appointment. If it’s easier, you can ask SONDORS to ship the bike directly to us. Of course we have assembly and service fees on bikes that were not purchased thru is.
I LOVE mine, although if I attempted to ride it while doing a wheelie, I'm sure it wouldn't end pretty. haha.. Out of the box, I've gone up to 29.5 mph WITHOUT peddle assist. Also, the color LCD display is bright enough to see clearly even on a sunny day, and it always defaults to peddle assist #2 of 7. Something they didn't touch on, which I've set up on mine; you are able to set up a 4-digit unique numerical passcode on your display. You get three attempts and not sure what happens if someone goes beyond that.. probably locks up for a period of time before it can be attempted again. And of course, when the correct passcode is entered, you are good to go.. otherwise the LX is not powered on. Now I'm waiting on receiving my SONDORS Metacycle, which was suppose to show up Q2 of 2021. Now they're telling me I should receive it Q2 of 2022. That is going to be an amazing ride too!
If this was a hub motor instead of a mid drive I would have one . I also prefer a cadence sensor and not the tork sensor . I do think the bike is beautiful . Hopefully they will give options for those like me who prefer the hub motor and cadence sensor.
Where is the bike racks where is the fenders for the front and the back where the light goes for the front where the big tail light in the back for left and right turn single or flashing red light that means you can see the person in front of you riding the e-bike where is the horn to them and where does the water bottle go if you need drink water
I will have to try this thing. Thank you ebikeusa for having them in stock. Want to compare it to the Aventon Aventure which seems like a little more sorted out all around bike with fenders and rack standard and is a comparatively lighter bike but then what isn't. This thing reminds me of a Porsche Cayenne which is a powerful but heavy suv. You might actually want those huge tires for something this heavy but would be tempting to change them out for at least 4 inchers for easier turning no ? Still coming from offroad MC I might like that mid drive.
This is in a class by itself. While I like Aventon bikes, there is no comparison. Think of this as a large over the top overlanding truck vs a capable, lighter, and everyday driving SUV.
You talked about how it's 28 miles per hour from Sondors but capable oh more than that,If you go into the display settings is there an option to type in the override number I have a fold XS and when I do that I get more out of the motor more torque and some more speed, was wondering if its the same for this bike?

Can you order them with different handlebars? Cruiser handlebars with enough space on the ends for boxer bar ends would be cool IMO. I have them on my current bike and love using them while standing while riding.
@@eBikesUSA To change handlebars on my current bike the half-twist throttle/grip had to be removed by Allen under the rubber grip that was glued onto it. I had to cut the rubber off and then couldn't re-use it so ordered a different one (thumb-throttle) with identical appearance connector (yellow 3-pin) but it doesn't work (supposed to be plug & play so not sure why) so I've been riding without a working throttle for weeks...hasn't been going as easy for me. lol

Awsome video ! I have 2 lx coming in May .1 is for my wife 5'3" 25.5 " inseam 125 lbs 59 years old . will be riding street , Mountain gravel road , dirt road and sand in that order . to try to make the bike fit her my thinking is installing non suspension seatpost , 160 mm crank arms , 4" tires , adjustable stem and a handle bar with more rise and swepted back to reduce reach , provide wrist comfort and allow more upright posture . then If she is close to fitting and the weight of the bike isn't to much for her , I'm thinking of reducing the seat tube length to allow a suspension seat post and last ditch possibly 24" wheels to get her closer to the ground . Can you recommend a 26x4 tire for these road conditions ?
Dan, I admire your commitment to make the LX work for her. Please take a look at the Cruiser, that bike may be a better fit and will require hardly any modifications.
Glad you like the video Edward. The LX wheels have cut outs to reduce weight. What you see bulging, is the rum liner. Many fat bikes wheels have this feature. SONDORS fat bikes have had wheels going back the early models introduced in 2015.
I'm hearing reports that the bike is almost 90 pounds. How was it riding an ebike that heavy? Did the weight bother you when riding? Has Sondors said anything about why it is so heavy or that later models will be the 65 pounds on their web site? My Kuat ebike carrier is only rated for ebikes up to 60 pounds. The weight seems like a real problem.
They have corrected the weight on their website. The bike went through changes during production which resulted in the heavy weight. The added weight comes from the big battery, beefy frame and the heavier more powerful motor. The bike rides very nice and planted when hitting bumps. You only feel the weight if you are pedaling it uphill with motor turned off or when you try to pick it up.
@@eBikesUSA Thank you for the quick reply! Changing to a 26x3'' can be done at pretty much any bike shops right? Is there enough clearance for 27.5 wheels?
Yes. You can change the wheels to 27.5 x 3” wheel set. Clearance won’t be an issue. You would need to order new wheels that would fit the LX croup outs. Speak with a local bike shop to order the right size hubs.

What’s the recommended riding height for the lx? There isn’t much info on the website... I’m 6’4” tall, with a 35” inseam, do you think it would be a good fit? Is there enough cable to add a riser or upswept bars? Thanks!
Riders 5’ 5” and taller should be able to ride this bike. Or anyone with an inseam of 29” or longer. Because of step thru design, the stand over height is not an issue. I am 5”8” and can comfortably ride this bike.
At 6’ 4” this will be good frame size for you. You can raise the seat 4-6” to accommodate your inseam. The cables are long enough to accommodate an adjustable stem or a stem riser. Keep in mind this bike weighs 89 Lbs. So as long as you can handle the weight, you won’t have any issues with the height or frame size.
LX only comes in one size and is too big for what you would like to do. The new Cruiser model is a better choice for you. Smaller frame size and narrower tires make it easier to handle and will allow you to easily touch the ground when seated.
Can this bike handle 425 lbs person ? I know it's going to lose range with a heavy person. But that bike looks like it can handle a lot more than they say. I'm not going to be hard on the bike I just want to ride and know that the bike will last.
It’s a 12-34T cassette so it should be easy to replace it. I don’t think this bike needs a 8 speed or more cassette. It has plenty of power and battery range to climb any hills.
Good video! First LX review on TH-cam! I was super-close to ordering one, but wanted to have them out and see one before I jumped the gun (now I have to wait until summer). One of my concerns was the seat height if I want to let a shorter rider ride it. Sondors claims 31" on the short end. Sounds like in your opinion, that might not be the case? Granted, its a non-suspension seat post on their website. Also, its looks like a good candidate for an internally geared rear hub and a belt drive! Either way, good review.
Any rider with 29” inseam or longer will be able to ride it with the stock suspension seat post. For shorter riders, I recommend changing to a non suspension seat post. The bike is very well built and can accom0date heavier riders with no issues.
@@eBikesUSA What's the size of the seat post? Thinking about buying a non-suspension seat posts before my LX arrives in June, i'm assuming the seat is rail mounted?
Hi guys. Do you stock parts for the sondors lx. Maybe you can help me. I have a code 21 & 36 and the bike is just shutting off when you try to operate it. The battery is good at 53.8 volts. I found the negative terminal broken but still it's shutting down. Is there a way to clear the codes. Your help will be appreciated . Thanks
if the motor breaks and I'm out of warranty will it be easy not only find a suitable replacement but to replace the motor? some of these proprietary bikes with hard to replace parts are contributing to the landfill problems
Check out Luna Cycles, Aliexpress, Amazon or eBay to find out how much are the replacement motors. Bafang Hub motors can be adult replaced for less than $300. This Bafang Ultra motor will be more expensive.
@@justiceonly9105 What he is talking about is not a discount. It is a proposed tax credit. It would allow a 30% tax credit of up to $1500 on new electric bikes not costing more than approximately $8000. You still have to pay full asking price out of pocket first then add it with your taxes the following year. It's also only allowed for one new, not used, bike every 3 years. 2 bikes if filing jointly. I have not checked on this for a couple weeks so these numbers may have changed. Also, at the time this had not yet been signed into law but that may have changed also.
The best solution will be SONDORS rack and fender package that's designed for this bike. If you need a rack now, you will need to order a center bracket to accommodate the after market arms. You can find these on Amazon. I suggest joining the SONDORS Storm owners group on Facebook.. They have the link you are looking for.
The nick on the bike is nothing, I look at the perfection, sometimes a review can drop some sales, what come perfect very few items to ship and handle that many times by many people and get to the customer perfect is almost impossible this Sondors design of this LX e bike I have not seen any ebike built this frame style, most of all 4.9 inch tires perfect 👌🏽

Yes, it does effects range. Of course with a massive 48V 21ah battery and an efficient torque sensing motors, this bike is capable of doing 70 miles and more. So the range is not an issue.
To me this looks very impractical. It has no mud guards which means muddy water up your back and in your face. It has motorbike tyres that mean much more friction slowing you down than normal bicycle tyres which are much thinner. It has more than enough gears, which means more than enough to carry and maintain and parts to replace when they wear out. Judging by the cog/crank sizes I would probably only use the top 4 gears. There's no dedicated surface to attach a rear cargo rack for my pannier cargo bags to carry my shopping in. It looks too heavey to carry up the stairs to my flat with two pannier cargo bags of shopping and my backpack full. I have elbow joints in my arms and knee joints in my legs so the added suspension is dead weight to me, I don't need it. Disk-brakes are not as good as rim brakes in my opinion, they require too much engineering to function against the leverage of the wheel working harder at the hub than at the rim, and that is why they cost much more than rim brakes, they do the same job but in a more stupidly-designed and expensive way. Cycling keeps me fit, it's not as fast as an e-bike but it's still much faster and more reliable than public transport.
These bikes are clearly not for everyone. mud guards are coming as well as racks and bags. Mounting holes are already on the frame. you could probably stand beside the bike and hit the throttle and it would drag all your stuff and you up the stairs. the suspension means you dont have to put your elbows and knees through so much punishment and they wont give out on you later in life. alternatively these bikes are a great option for people like myself who have already put their joints through to much punishment as they alleviate much of the strain and joint stress needed to ride conventional bikes. I assure you I still get a proper workout on electric bikes but with much less pain. rim brakes will never ever compare with the stopping power of hydraulic disk brakes...ever. I encourage you to research the difference for yourself. Happy cycling!
What is the problem with a grip shifter ? For a mid drive motor I was wondering if that might be a good solution to get to a low gear in a hurry when stopping.
@@GipsyDean not if it had a geared rear hub. it might be possible to replace drive train with an aftermarket belt drive setup. I was going to look into it after I get mine in August. Hopefully someone else will have tried it by then and posted their findings online.

So what is the real weight i bought the 65LBS one🤣 but, seriously what is the real world weight please list it. Yeah, yeah,, been to the site and as of posting this comment they are still advertising 65 pounds... It doesn't have to be accurate to the gram but, are we talking 70? 75? 80? 80+ pounds?
It's a feature ;) Seriously though, it does let others know you are on the way, and sometimes saves me the trouble of ringing the bell or letting them know verbally that I'm passing (at a moderate speed, of course).
Sondors lies about the weight of the LX its was advertised at 65 pounds until mid day February 16th 2021 now the weight has been increased on their site to be 89 POUNDS SERIOUS FALSE ADVERTISING DUPING EVERYONE WHO BOUGHT ONE PRIOR TO TODAY! EXTREMELY SHADY
Yes, you could spend thousands of dollars on an eBike th-cam.com/users/postUgkxUiL0GnyDjP32RJdd660sP8mZk4CRLTCJ and get something much higher quality. However, if you're looking for a basic model to try out eBiking this is a great choice. The assembly is easy as far as bikes go (took about an hour for me to do, I'm not an expert). All tools needed are included. I added the plastic mud guards you see and a more comfortable seat. The other reviews are correct that you're probably going to want a better seat (Giddy Up! Bike Seat is what I got - super comfortable). The battery easily handles a 2-4 hour ride if you add some of your own pedal power. I haven't even gotten it up to top speed yet - it is very fast. Components are not top of the line, but decent for the price and work just fine. It works great on dirt roads and singletrack and pavement although too heavy to do tricks or any serious technical mountain biking. I'm looking forward to using it a lot over the summer. Tons of fun!
This is the best-looking Sondors bike.

I need a small frame for my height at 5' 3 so my feet can touch the ground when seated. Is the LX only offered in a one size frame?
LX only comes in one size and is too big for what you would like to do. The new Cruiser model is a better choice for you. Smaller frame size and narrower tires make it easier to handle and will allow you to easily touch the ground when seated.
How do.you do that wheelie you make it look so fun and easy
Can this bike handle 425 lbs person ?
I know it's going to lose range with a heavy person.
But that bike looks like it can handle a lot more than they say.
I'm not going to be hard on the bike I just want to ride and know that the bike will last.
During Sondors presentation they said this product will come with a rear rack and fenders. What happened, you left it in the box?
I know they will offer a fender/rack and bag package. The bike did not come with those items in the box.
it really needs fenders.
WOW a wheelie at the end....thats hard on a heavy ebike
very nice bikes. Is the 7 speed a cassette or a flywheel?
It’s a 12-34T cassette so it should be easy to replace it. I don’t think this bike needs a 8 speed or more cassette. It has plenty of power and battery range to climb any hills.
@@eBikesUSA man if you guys were in n.j. I would be picking one up sooner than later
@@camxiong LX seat post is 30.9mm.
I would go for the internal w/belt drive and maybe a mid rise frame. And there are no fenders.
Thanks
Have you asked this question on SONDORS storm owners group on Facebook? I bet Sean Alraid can help you.
Great Design!
if the motor breaks and I'm out of warranty will it be easy not only find a suitable replacement but to replace the motor? some of these proprietary bikes with hard to replace parts are contributing to the landfill problems
Check out Luna Cycles, Aliexpress, Amazon or eBay to find out how much are the replacement motors. Bafang Hub motors can be adult replaced for less than $300. This Bafang Ultra motor will be more expensive.
I seriously doubt anyone is going to turn these into scrap after paying some serious money for them. There will be a secondary market for ebikes.
Does this LX do 28mph with throttle only?
Yes, it does.
@@eBikesUSA I assume that's after adjusting settings? Class 3 is 28mph with pedal assist, and 20 mph on throttle only.
Warranty is only 90 days and cannot return unless in unopened box.
Does anyone have an opinion about this bike vs a Priority Current in terms of performance and quality differences?
what kind of tire is good to replace the stock tire of im just doing roads?
There are many tires choices ranging from 3.5” Or wider available., the stock tires are great. You can find the 4” tires from the same manufacturer.
Wow! A wind up bike! Peddle a little and go a lot!
I like it! 😁
Mid drives sound kinda loud when just using the throttle.

Did you get your bike? How long have you been waiting?
@@keeferdog5617 i think about a year now? I kinda gave up!
are these off road bikes like true mountain bikes?
More like gravel road bikes. They will very well on Fire Roads. Not so much on technical single track trails due to size and weight.
How are you suppose to chain this bike to rack or tree?
You will need a longer cable lock, wrap it around the frame and the battery box.
$1,999 Retail. Plus the Ebike act that is just about to pass in congress that will give you 30% off. How could you go wrong? Aces!
I read about it, but 30% off what exactly?
@@justiceonly9105 What he is talking about is not a discount. It is a proposed tax credit. It would allow a 30% tax credit of up to $1500 on new electric bikes not costing more than approximately $8000. You still have to pay full asking price out of pocket first then add it with your taxes the following year. It's also only allowed for one new, not used, bike every 3 years. 2 bikes if filing jointly. I have not checked on this for a couple weeks so these numbers may have changed. Also, at the time this had not yet been signed into law but that may have changed also.

$2,300 plus $100 shipping in USA. I know I just ordered one the first of July. Over 4 months for delivery…..ouch
I think they might be up to $3K now ?
Would this bike fit a 6’5” rider?
You should be able to ride this bike easily. May need a 400mm or 450mm seat post and a stem riser for a more comfortable ride.
HOW DO THESE BIKE LAST?
SONDORS bike’s have done very well in the past. Many have thousands of miles on them. They are easy to maintain and repairs are easy and affordable.
Can you add a rear rack?
The best solution will be SONDORS rack and fender package that's designed for this bike. If you need a rack now, you will need to order a center bracket to accommodate the after market arms. You can find these on Amazon. I suggest joining the SONDORS Storm owners group on Facebook.. They have the link you are looking for.
Will it be available in Canada?
Not sure what their plans are. That is a question for SONDORS team.
Yes it is, I purchased one. Shipping soon

are you selling the those LX?
The current shipment of LX bikes are already sold. The next batch will arrive in June/July time frame.

Yes, a few small changes. The content remains the same.
What is the MAX speed of this bike?
It comes from the factory set up at 28mph. You can change the top speed to 35mph. And the bike is capable of doing 35.
Sorry I did not see the light
The nick on the bike is nothing, I look at the perfection, sometimes a review can drop some sales, what come perfect very few items to ship and handle that many times by many people and get to the customer perfect is almost impossible this Sondors design of this LX e bike I have not seen any ebike built this frame style, most of all 4.9 inch tires perfect 👌🏽

Cant face the competition of the Aventure
no mudguards , antique spoke wheels yet again, not worth the money, but battery good, and needs road tires . prefer slimmer ones
Disappointed that they’re not belt drive....
'Same here. Low-maintenance, internal hub gearing and belt drive, even if more expensive, are my preference.
Would’ve loved to seen a Gates belt on this bad boy…
Mega fat tyres, does that not impact range?
Yes, it does effects range. Of course with a massive 48V 21ah battery and an efficient torque sensing motors, this bike is capable of doing 70 miles and more. So the range is not an issue.
What about the price!? Nothing on the price. That's the first thing riders want to know.
$1999 plus $150 shipping
😂😂😂
I think that your engineering skills need some polishing. It appears that you don't have a clue about what you are talking about.
Have you heard about this new technology that uses radio waves instead of batteries to power an electric car? This will make batteries obsolete.

A grip shifter on a $2,100 bike unacceptable.
I don't think an inexpensive component that can easily be replaced is a deal breaker.
What is the problem with a grip shifter ? For a mid drive motor I was wondering if that might be a good solution to get to a low gear in a hurry when stopping.
Too bad it doesn't have a belt drive.
@@GipsyDean not if it had a geared rear hub. it might be possible to replace drive train with an aftermarket belt drive setup. I was going to look into it after I get mine in August. Hopefully someone else will have tried it by then and posted their findings online.
I think it would be easy to program all electric bikes to NEVER tip over backwards while doing wheelies. A safety feature for cycle riders.
How? All I know is the rear brake trick

Incredibly noisy. Nice bike but couldn’t be riding something that someone can hear you coming from 50 metres away.
The tire noise clears the bike path as you approach other cyclists and pedestrians. It’’s something that these large 4.9” tires are known for.

Why the mask?

I would not buy it with the throttle on the left
We installed the throttle on the left hand side because that’s how I wanted it. The owner can install it on either side. Rider’s preference.
