This song was played at the funeral of my 29 year old daughter who, along with her fiancé, were killed by a DUI driver. Then, six months later, it was played at the funeral of my 39 year old son, who died of an overdose after he restarted his drug usage to self medicate after losing his baby sister. I have requested that it be played at mine.
This is one of those songs that can trickle down through out time and be played and never feel dated... this song is eternal.. Many blessings to all who listen ..
Nick Drake would be proud and honoured if musicians such as these emulated him. Murdoch is great. I love how Townsend modestly, and professionally, gives Murdoch centre stage.
I feel the same when I heard that line. My twin had moved to Arizona and we did everything together, even worked at the same place. The next day driving into work without him I heard this song. Gets me every time. Even though there's FaceTime & such, it's still tough. Why I'm telling you this who knows. The power of music, even one verse is so powerful!! Great soundtrack to memories! Peace!!
You have to admit, that's got to be like a childlike dream for Alexi to have the guitar player of The Who play your song with you. Goes to show you how deep and powerful Alexi Murdoch's music is that a rock legend like Townsend wants to play with you.
Pete Townsend and The Who are truly one of the most formative influences in my life growing up in Canada. From the first concert in Toronto in 1981 where they opened with Baba O'Reilly and the explosion from the flash pods in the climax of the song I was launched into a life long relationship with music singing, song writing, guitar and piano and this performance captures the essence of all that for me; a beautiful song supported by a legend with a layer of icing from the piano. Well done and thank you.
Love everything you've done, you've sung my life at times. Either you have been through so much pain or you have such an incredible knack for empathy of those who have.
Well, I had a dream I stood beneath an orange sky Yes, I had a dream I stood beneath an orange sky With my brother standing by With my brother standing by I said Brother, you know you know It's a long road we've been walking on Brother, you know it is, you know it is Such a long road we've been walking on And I had a dream I stood beneath an orange sky With my sister standing by With my sister standing by I said Sister, here is what I know now Here is what I know now Goes like this In your love, my salvation lies In your love, my salvation lies In your love, my salvation lies In your love, in your love, in your love But sister you know I'm so weary And you know sister My heart's been broken Sometimes, sometimes My mind is too strong to carry on Too strong to carry on When I am alone When I've thrown off the weight of this crazy stone When I've lost all care for the things I own That's when I miss you, that's when I miss you, that's when I miss you You who are my home You who are my home And here is what I know now Here is what I know now Goes like this In your love, my salvation lies In your love, my salvation lies In your love, my salvation lies In your love, my salvation lies In your love, my salvation lies In your love, my salvation lies In your love, my salvation lies In your love, in your love, in your love Well I had a dream I stood beneath an orange sky Yes, I had a dream I stood beneath an orange sky With my brother and my sister standing by With my brother and my sister standing by With my brother and my sister standing by
Murdoch is cut from the same cloth as Tim Buckley and Nick Drake. Outlived them both as well. Townshend needs no introduction. A forever restless talent that will perform until his last dying breath.
This is at Hotel Cafe in LA I think it was Feb, 2005. It was the first time I had heard of Alexi and he just blew away! Ben Harper was also playing and he signed my guitar before the show. Also, I had a good chat with Pete about the Scilly Isles, where I live, as he used to come on holiday to the islands. I was right at the front standing along side with the Smashing Pumpkins. A great night! I'm so pleased to see this footage .
Wow! Didn't think it was possible to make this song better. Townshend's harmonics on the twelve string are extremely difficult and fitting for this song.
...in a lover's love, in our loved ones' love, in our family's love, in human love, in God's love...all true. A powerfully simple recognition of being Lost, and the sweet surrender walking to Found. Nice to see others have also been profounded by Alexi's work.
I'm glad I met you! I didn't know you existed till I watched Wildlike and stumbled upon 'Blue Waters' your soundtrack. You are captivating. You reach to my core. Keep on keeping on, Your music gives me life.
Have a blessed year everyone 😊 “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.” (John 3:16)
To add, nick drake who we lost too early. Alexi seems a spiritual descendent. And Pete Townsend. My god, the man can do anything. (I actually thought it was a nick drake cover).

Hope you’re ok Frank x
I'm so sorry for you losses Frank
Life's so strange. I wonder when my last day'll be.
Sending Love to you Frank💗
Sending a warm hug mate, from Australia, hope you are well Frank.

Of course Townsend gave him center stage....that's what guests do.
I know what you meant by nick drake..brought tears to my eyes as well just if people knew more of him
Nick Drake lives through him...
@@gordongrant444thanks for bringing me back to this music, gordon! It's been 6 yrs since I commented. Cheers y'all.
@@heatherc2939sorry what's the Nick Drake connection to this song? Love him too
I played this track on repeat on September 9, 2020 while crying. In Berkeley, CA.
I feel this.
B-town and Alexi are my steez
I am estranged from my brother and sister for no real reason. Would live fir them yo hear this before we all leave this earth
"With my brother standing by" I was hooked after that line.
I feel the same when I heard that line. My twin had moved to Arizona and we did everything together, even worked at the same place. The next day driving into work without him I heard this song. Still with this ... 09/2023
Have trouble listening to this without tearing up sometimes. Beautiful song.
I want it to be played at my wake
Lord, I am witnessing something wonderful. I am so grateful for this music
Pete supporting new ARTISTS...love
new artist? he's basically a legend now
thats when you know you've made it when you have Pete Townsend as your back up guitarist
As
Hm
Probably
A relatively simple song to play but look how they make it sound magical. Bravo.
I would pay good money to see him live!
You have to admit, that's got to be like a childlike dream for Alexi to have the guitar player of The Who play your song with you. Goes to show you how deep and powerful Alexi Murdoch's music is that a rock legend like Townsend wants to play with you.
Mr. Townsend! Thank you for honoring one of THE best songs of this Century!
You go, Alexi!
Can't get enough of this guy..alexi murdoch..why don't we hear more
I want to like this every time I watch it. Thanks you guys you are both incredible. Reach right into my heart 🙏🏻❤️

Magnificent performance.
Just gorgeous!

I don't remember the date when I first heard this song, but it's just so timeless.
That's a great writer ❤
Pete is a true musician
My soul now feels it has been ever so gently hugged ❤️
Well, I had a dream
I stood beneath an orange sky
Yes, I had a dream
I stood beneath an orange sky
With my brother standing by
With my brother standing by
I said Brother, you know you know
It's a long road we've been walking on
Brother, you know it is, you know it is
Such a long road we've been walking on
And I had a dream
I stood beneath an orange sky
With my sister standing by
With my sister standing by
I said Sister, here is what I know now
Here is what I know now
Goes like this
In your love, my salvation lies
In your love, my salvation lies
In your love, my salvation lies
In your love, in your love, in your love
But sister you know I'm so weary
And you know sister
My heart's been broken
Sometimes, sometimes
My mind is too strong to carry on
Too strong to carry on
When I am alone
When I've thrown off the weight of this crazy stone
When I've lost all care for the things I own
That's when I miss you, that's when I miss you, that's when I miss you
You who are my home
You who are my home
And here is what I know now
Here is what I know now
Goes like this
In your love, my salvation lies
In your love, my salvation lies
In your love, my salvation lies
In your love, my salvation lies
In your love, my salvation lies
In your love, my salvation lies
In your love, my salvation lies
In your love, in your love, in your love
Well I had a dream
I stood beneath an orange sky
Yes, I had a dream
I stood beneath an orange sky
With my brother and my sister standing by
With my brother and my sister standing by
With my brother and my sister standing by
Usually don't enjoy live stuff, but this one,... Amazing! Its nice to hear someone that has such a great voice.
Great song and Townsend really putting an awesome touch to it.
Murdoch is cut from the same cloth as Tim Buckley and Nick Drake. Outlived them both as well.
Townshend needs no introduction. A forever restless talent that will perform until his last dying breath.
wow, I have only a few months, this will be played on the day.
strength and peace to you.
❤️
Oh man ... just ... beautiful ...
(also, I trust Townshend's judgement on these sorts of things)
Great song. Great version.
What a jewel to stumble upon I love the song and then up comes my favorite of all time Pete Townshend, I'm like whoe are you kidding me
This song makes me believe someday I shall stand beneath an orange sky too.
Two of the best musicians I admire the most
This is another level. 3am, punk ipa and this ❤️
I feel like I'm ready to die after watching this. Absolutely perfect. 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
When I am alone
When I've thrown off the weight of this crazy stone
When I've lost all care for the things I own
That's when I miss you

I think that it was March 2007, I was there too. Amazing show. Bless Rachel Fuller for making these happen.
Cool combination, Pete Townsend and Alexis Murdoch! Thanks for sharing this video!

Great but ...Cant hear Rachel ??
Or see her much.. but then that's the music industry for you.
ey..what type of acoustic guitar is it ?
How good was that.?
i wonder if this is gibson B-25? anybody?
Was wondering also. I had a 1968 Gibson B45/12
Very "Nick Drake"
I agree, it remindedme him instantly! So mellow, so good!
To add, nick drake who we lost too early. Alexi seems a spiritual descendent. And Pete Townsend. My god, the man can do anything. (I actually thought it was a nick drake cover).
Nick Drake's spirit must be speaking through him...
Intro sounds like something to believe in by poison..
Seems like I'm the only one who was brought here by garden state ;D
Reminds me of Prison Break season 1
