Nice run! FYI, in the development menu, can click on province to quickly move the game-screen to the province clicked on (in the menu). Wish Paradox would make it work in all menus. Cheers! Corfu is a rough start. Best of luck.
I really hope they take out the “pick on the player” mechanic in EU5. Breaks immersion if im in japan and the spanish pop up before 1510. I dont want the AI to be different because of the country i choose thats insane
Maybe that could be a part of the difference in the difficulty settings, I think in Eu4 I want the Ai to come after me sometimes because it's pretty easy to get to a point very early in the game where you're unstoppable, not for me because I'm not good but definitely for plenty of players
The AI has no inherent programming that treats the human player(s) any differently than how it treats other AI nations. All the supposed "AI targets the player" claims are just a mix of not understanding how the AI works, not paying attention to how the AIs interact with each other, and confirmation bias. Every AI nation makes an ongoing assessment of which other nations are currently threats, currently weak, currently a rising power, etc. The way human players tend to play, they are much more likely for the AI nations to see them as a bloodthirsty rising power that needs to be dealt with. If another AI nation acted that same way, they would treat it like that, too, it doesn't matter at all whether it's a human or AI nation. But AI nations typically play much more conservatively than human players (how often do human players accumulate enough aggressive expansion score for a coalition to form, versus how often does an AI expand that fast...). If you played as conservatively as a typical AI nation, then the other AIs would not think you were any more of a threat/priority than usual.
@@williamhenryharrison644 You don't have to play like you're going for a WC record every single game. If you want to play slowly and relatively chill the way most AI nations do, the AI will treat you the same as it treats the other AIs. If you want to try and grow from an OPM into a great power in 50 years, then surely you do actually want a challenge, don't you? So what's the problem?
Kinda crazy how often hawk plays these nations that don't get a lot of claims from missions but he always glosses over opening with Espionage Ideas. Imo they're pretty good now. Advisor cost, claiming entire states, AE reduction, and so many good events.
“The AI doesn’t target the player” they say as your chill South China Sea nation Colonization game is interrupted by colonizer Norway, Holland, Friesland, France, Giga-Spain, Portugal, Mali, Mamluks, Brittany, Scotland, Denmark, etc.
24:25 that's not how it works. You GAIN 15% more institution modifier globally, so the GABOA (or whatever) province(s) make more institution spreading.
Off-topic comment : Have you looked at ever trying the Anbennar mod? I think it would make for some really interesting content and it would be fun to watch you play fantasy eu4.
Oh, yeah, they target the player. Playing in West Africa? I border Portugal, Castille, France, and Britain in the late 1400s. East Africa? Border them in the early 1500s. Playing further East? The colonizers ignore the Americas entirely, and get into the Malaccas in the early 1500s. Be the #1 great power in a big war with 5 small allies on my side? The AI, which "targets the weakest nation first," send all troops to my lands and ignores the unfortified allies I called in to keep them busy.
Calling admin and espionage an ai tier opening is mental yk especially considering that they are 2 of the best idea groups in the game, Sure they dont have the best synergy but like what.

The man is a Sunni nation in West Africa with no diplomatic ties to Europe, who's going to have the institution before he will, let alone be willing to sell it to him?
@@shanearmstrong9861 the man can see europe. there are sunni nations there like the ottomans or tunis which would have it before him. In my recent game I bought Colonialism from Portugal as Mutapa. It's not that difficult.

I'm planning to use espionage for the true heir to the Timurid achieve run
Another banger from the Red Gawk 🙏💯
red hawk tuah barrage on that thang
Red tuah
Diabolical 😂
Seems like this tag basically gets to play as Mali without having to deal with their disaster. I can see why they're good
14:40 i played in Australia and every colonial nation magically showed up there and the americas were not colonized btw

It's a shame Sokoto is the only major formable in the region, and it's religion-locked. The Ghana Empire would make sense as another option.
Mali is formable
lol that cut when you complete the Slave Trade mission
Love the Sopranos reference
Always knew that this Red Hawk guys is mobbed up
"Quasimodo predicted all this"
Freakin' Sopranos fan ovah hear!
I been gone so long from this channel that Red Hawk has hair now :o
Quasimodo really predicted all of this
I would love to see a "specials" series, where you form and play special nations that are only formable by event
Damn it, Jeff! Red Hawk did tell you!
He did, I'm ashamed of myself, I should have believed him 😕
18:36 Admin Espionage is a great opener. though you usually get Espionage first ^^
24:25 that's not how it works. You GAIN 15% more institution modifier globally, so the GABOA (or whatever) province(s) make more institution spreading.
As malindi, conquer Sweden (their flags look the same)
Should have asked Portugal to assist in independence. Easy access to institutions.
Your hair is coming in really good man!
13.28 They probably burned the colony, the AI does that a lot when they occupy a hostile province that's in the process of colonizing.
Bear reference was sick
Admin - espionage is fine. I have humanist - espionage - diplo - admin now in my run as dithmarschen.

Bring back the wheel!
keep in mind some of the event release countries are not in your wheel of pain, like the caribbean pirates or the ethipian slave revolt in india.
Come on Jeff, he told you!
I know, I should have believed him 😕

Hello Hawk spit on Mali
red hawk tuah
Does that flag look like a paper airplane?
in another universe this is how Africa developed 😊
would've gone colonizing tbh.
Ok Astérix

You should play as Miao and conquer the entirety of Japan and Turkey because of their affinity for cats.
why does redhawk say to tc everything?
Hmmmm Why you forgeting bout "Ask for knowledge sharing?"
The AI does always target the player but Castile always colonizes that province so I don't know if thi ws proof lol
Wagadugu is my favorite nation to say.
it's also the name of the Capital of Ivory Coast
Absolutely the AI knows who the player is and tailors it's play accordingly.
too easy? that's illegal.
