WOW! Very Impressive! I could tell this job was to be more than a Cabin Build because of the foundation....made for a House, and House is exactly what you are building. This place is going to be Magnificent... WOW! 😊❤😊❤
I'm starting my 1107 sq ft of log cabin in another 10 days in Kodaikanal, India.. sent your video for reference to my head-carpenter. Thank you for this detailed video.
@@paintman26 That's right.. let me make a video of it.. but I'm having a hard time convincing my carpenter about not needing a wooden column post at the 4 corners of the building, as it would impede the joinery of the logs at the corners.. To me, it's actually the most beautiful part of a log-house. I'm actually eyeing the more eye-pleasing 'saddle-notch' technique.. he's worried about the structural integrity without the wooden columns.. I told him that the dowels placed in between would actually solve that issue along with lock of the joinery (I hope I'm right). Also I'm actually going to use 18mm rebar for dowels. Oh & btw, this is completely a non-Indian architecture.. So we're still figuring it out.. He has a good experience working on Indian 'Chettinad' style homes with wooden columns & beams in court-yards.
1240 Ft. of Outstanding Craftsmamship! WOW!!! Thank You for your Video!! I watched it from Start to Finish! May You have many years enjoying this Fantastic Home!😊😊😊😊😊
Absolutely beautiful I admire your hard work and determination I to am building the log house that I've always wanted using yellow pine it has taken me much longer we are finally doing trim work if you don't mind me asking what would you recommend for pest control
@jeffcarpenter5818 Thank you very much! I'm no professional on it but we used tim-bor professional insecticide and fungicide. Also used on the exterior q8 log oil which is a water repellent and deters insects also.
beautiful work team! I see you also went with the foam in the gaps. it worked for me no issues over 12 yrs on my first butt n pass. blessings to you and yours
@tribeofdavid8 Thanks, we appreciate it! The foam in the gaps came from watching your videos. Your videos have been an inspiration and a go-to on our home build.
Just found your video and want to say how impressed I am. I work alone on my projects and always find a way to handle things by myself. I do historic restoration of log homes and buildings. I'll watch what ever you put on.
I appreciate you watching it and I'll keep posting as I finish it up. I fully understand your struggles of trying to figure out how to do things when you're a one man crew.
I have discovered and seen many technical errors when building a house. For example, with the roof, where I don't understand why there is no proper ventilation. This could have been easily done with vapour-permeable foil and a horizon layout from bottom to top and counter battens for ventilation. It would have been so easy, but this creates a situation on the roof that is conducive to condensation, which allows moisture to build up from the inside.
@nordwestbeiwest1899 I have it set up where a few vents in the gable eaves will vent the roof properly through the full length of the stringer/nailer system
Just found your channel...subbed it while i was admiring your work...the amount of work and materials to your gable ends ...lots of cutting but stunning results!!
Built a house is very challenging work but you are successful in completing same alone and achieved the target, very beautiful and nice cabin house. I should like to watch another interior apisode. Greetings from India.
Great work 👍, I wish you’d type the name/brand of the material and treatment stuff and etc as you were coming along with the building process, but honestly your work is the type of work that I need to copy 100%, liked it a lot thanks for sharing.
@thehighlandcruisers5194 I appreciate you watching it. I used timbor professional treatment to spray down the logs inside and I'm using outlast log oil for exterior. If you have any questions let me know I'll be happy to share anything I used.
Awesome work! Genuine question... Are you worried about shrinkage on your logs and how that will affect your door? I noticed you did not leave a shrinkage gap above your door.
Thanks, I treated the interior logs with tim-bor professional for insecticide and fungicide protection and the outside gable ends and exterior logs I'm using outlast log oil and that is a wood preservative and also repels insects, fungus and molds
@brandenforrer2603 I believe with the moisture loss and shrinkage of the log it will offset any expansion due to temperature change and the rebar will eliminate the settling, that's my theory anyway.
Man those sure are some nice straight logs. Clean taper. I'm lucky to get 12-14 foot sections that are straight. The trees on my property are all twisted and swayed. I'm contemplating making D logs instead of whole logs What's that magic liquid you use to get them bright again?
@maddawgnoll yea we were lucky to have several nice straight trees here to do this with. I bought some log cleaners and wood cleaners and none of it worked well so I wound up buying clorox bleach and it worked amazing, just make sure to wash it off real good after it sets about 15 mins.
@@paintman26 I was told not to use bleach because it causes some sort of breakdown on the cellulose or something like that. Not exactly what it was, but they said to clean with good detergent after treating. Which it sounds like you did.
You shouldn't be spraying expanding foam with bare hands and arms, my friend; that stuff is super toxic. Ideally you should have full-body overalls. Otherwise, cracking job 🫡
@paintman26 I'm sorry if it's preachy, mate; and I'm sure you've used it plenty of times. But when I say it's super toxic, I mean it's kind of like the modern day asbestos; I have no doubt that eventually it'll get banned, and it's amazing it already isn't considering how bad it is. 😓 Most of the risk is through inhalation though, and since you were wearing a pretty decent mask, you're *_probably_* ok. 👍

A man without a tractor is only half of a man. I’ve told my wife this a hundred times.
@benw5800 lol he's for sure only gonna get half the work done anyway
A tractor just makes it a lot easier than building mobile gantry with a block and tackle system 😂 (I'm the guy that doesn't have the tractor😢)
Poppycock, you fool. 👎
Then have u toled just a single time to ur tractor, that without , A man is half but happy without of a wife ?
I use a wheelbarrow which never breaks down

@maddawgnoll I hear ya, I was told the same thing, I found people saying both ways. It's the only thing that I could find that worked.
For all the framing fitting and cutting that you did, you did not put any plywood decking on that roof
@@Nancy-y8q1n it wasn’t necessary for this roof as I didn’t use shingles.
What are you going to use to fill in the gaps between the logs?
Log jam chinking from western log homes
