My neighbor prescribe burned everybody’s farm around him a few days ago. Lol I went out to walk the dogs early in the morning when they first started the fire and everything was going fine. A little while later my wife went out and text me that the wind had picked up. A little while later she text that the fire was out and burning our back 40 along with everyone else’s back 40. Thankfully, we live in a rural area and no people or structures were affected so we will all have good browse for deer and turkey this year. Lol 🔥

Would you mind sharing the RH, wind speed and temperature. We began using prescribed fire this year. We used the prescribed fire for dummy’s rule and simply couldn’t get the fire to carry. Our RH was just above 40%, wind less than 5, temperatures in the 30’s.

RH on this burn was around 35-40. Temps also in the 30s to low 40s. Wind was around 12 MPH. What was the site you tried to burn and what were the fuel loads like?

Thanks for the information. The fuel load was leaf litter. We’d had an abundance of rain in East Tn, but I would only try after about three days being dry with favorable conditions. We were finally able to get it to burn one afternoon with much lower humidity. We’ve been felling cedars this winter. Hoping to burn in January of 2025. I’m confident the fuel load will be sufficient in this area.
