Feminism is about celebrating females (including the right to feel pleasure). I think she is sweet and brave and is well intentioned. I think talking to your kids about sex and pleasure is a good thing. Not talking to your kids about it is silly bc they are going to have sex regardless and its better for them to feel like they can talk to you about it. Kids need education and advice, and they need to feel comfortable and not ashamed.

She means only to bolster her personal brand and she is a good enough actress to play the part of ‘someone who means well’ skillfully enough to convince enough people to get away with it. A business built on the exploitation of the grieving through psychological manipulation is about as low as money-making gets. Lending legitimacy to the practice for the sake of good television is unethical.

(Psychic mediums in particular have no clue whether they are helping people heal, or causing enormous psychological damage, they generally have no training in psychology or ethics and are blindly messing around with some of the most serious and long lasting emotions people have. They tend to define healing as making someone feel better in the moment through deceptive well-known techniques like “cold reading”. I’m aware it’s not a major part of her business, but her promotion of it underscores her general ethical irresponsibility).Look, I understand you want to give her the benefit of the doubt, and if that were the only way she was profiting off of people’s desperation I would also have to give the benefit of the doubt. However, pretty much her entire business model revolves around selling products with provably false benefits under the guise of alternative medicine or barely legal vague language. She is not selling homemade candles out of the back of a van, she runs a company that has lawyers who know exactly how to skirt regulation or lawsuits. Look at the whole “jade egg” debacle. I'm sure she probably began from a genuine place of ignorance, but at this point, she has been informed of the potential harm she is causing. If she is still ignorant then it is a willful ignorance and that is not a valid excuse. Re: the psychics, she is not directly engaging in the practice, however, she knows that her target audience is very susceptible to such things and promoting it will generate higher ratings (or Netflix equivalent). If I
introduce a drug dealer to a group of kids because I own a shop that sells drug paraphernalia then I am complicit in any potential harm that comes to them. Also, even if she were not selling things like "psychic vampire repellant" her pricing is exploitative by itself. Gouging ignorant people out of large sums of money using her celebrity to create a false sense of legitimacy is exploitation. She loses the benefit of the doubt at every turn and it becomes much more logical to assume a cynical motive rather than increasingly unlikely ignorance/belief. (I'm aware that she is in no way unique in doing this and I would dismiss it as standard celebrity culture, but when you cross into the realm of exploiting physical and psychological health it becomes far less excusable.)
