The reason why you could hear the sincerity in his voice and also tell. That he was truly feeling what he was singing in the lyrics of this song. Is because this course of events actually happened to him and one of his band mates. So he chose to turn that pain that he felt into the lyrics of a timeless song that can be used to turn lemons into lemonade!
This awesome song "Love Train" was created out a love triangle between these 2 band mates of Con Funk Shun. Lyrically, the song is about a love triangle, involving Cooper (on the right in gold on tge Soul Train video of the performance) and Pilate (on the left in white). Both fell in love with the same woman at the same time. Cooper, her man, after calling one night and no answer, he showed up to her place and she wouldn't let him up because his bandmate (Pilate) was already in her bed. "Love's Train" was written about "a love triangle Cooper and Pilate found themselves in, both lovelorn and yearning".[2] The songwriters have acknowledged there was no awkwardness during the writing sessions.[7] One day, a young lady showed up at the studio in San Francisco and Pilate "moved on her quickly".[2] After a month of relationship, she told Cooper that she wanted him, instead of Pilate. At this point, Cooper thought the woman had left Pilate, but she was "juggling" both of them.[2] One night Cooper showed up at her apartment and she was with Pilate. The former told Pilate "[i]f by chance you let me come up, we can talk about this"; these words would become the bridge in "Love's Train".[2] Cooper decided to go home and poured out his sorrow into the lyrics of a song, which started "warm night, can't sleep, too hurt, too weak, gotta call her up". Cooper wrote the song to a music track created by Pilate, but with different lyrics.[2]
ConFunkShun's group sings lead by this Michael Cooper on this song. He says he wrote this song bc he & another band mate dated the same lady. That $hit had to be tough..., so he wrote about it.
Here are some more jams by ConFunkShun you should check out: "Chase Me", "(Let Me Put), Love On Your Mind", "By Your Side", "Got To Be Enough", "Straight From The Heart" and "Ffun".
Yes, he was actually feeling that song andvsinnging from his heart after finding out that he and another band member were dating the same woman. He decided to put his feelings into writing the lyrics to this song, and singing the ish out of it.
This has been one of my favorite songs since I was 8. Have so many memories to this...they're talking about real stuff. Yeah he about to cry...he's talking about a real situation.
JT, You just played the original version of 'Love's Train' which is currently being covered by Silk Sonic (Anderson Paak and Bruno Mars). Silk Sonic released it on Valentine's Day as a gift to their fans. Maybe you can play their version to point out the differences. The lead singer of Con Funk Shun is Michael Cooper. The song came out in 1982. The group is still performing today. The other song 'Love Train', without the apostrophe is by the O'Jays.
Its all about a love trinagle.. Two people madly in love,,, but their is someone officially in the mix...And you just got to see each other whenever you guys can.. So ,,,thats the way it goes on love train
I’ve seen them in concert twice 2014, & 2017. They were so dang good. The lead singer was hittin them notes acapella style before they even began the song.
Both of the lead singers where in love and messing with the same women. And that's what the song is about. Silk sonic version is okay but this is the real.
One of the MOST UNDERRATED SLOW JAMS OF ALL TIME! Great Video! Great Reaction! Man, the great MICHAEL COOPER on lead vocals. These are the songs that make you miss BLACK MUSIC! GOOD JOB OH YEAH, I got 2 requests. 1. IF I WAS YOUR GIRLFRIEND by PRINCE (LIVE SIGN O' THE TIMES 1986) 2. BABY I'M READY by LEVERT
From my understanding this is a true song. Two members of the group were seen the same woman. The one who wrote. It and the guy who's saying it. Sing it
You pick some good music 💯 and the reason he was crying in the song is because him and another band member was messing with the same woman. This wasn’t the original song until Michael cooper rewrote it
Aprenda com os mestres, ao invés de debochar das interpretações dos cantores, A Velha Escola como a do Con Funk Shun vai te ensinar a apreciar a boa música que eles tanto fizeram sucesso.

Confunkshun some Bay Area legends
You need to react to the actual video on soul train. You need to see the actual singers
The song is about people who find themselves in a love triangle and are desperate to be with them when they're with the other person.
This has been one of my favorite songs since I was 8. Have so many memories to this...they're talking about real stuff. Yeah he about to cry...he's talking about a real situation.

They don't make music like this anymore, and it's just sad! The good old days of this country are long gone!
