    How wonderful to see you all. I loved this video. Adam, I just love how joyful and full of life you are. George, Tallie, and James, it's so lovely to see you, and ti see how you're all growing! Josh, ignore those comments about your work, you're honestly the hardest working, most dedicated caregiver to the beautiful CEDA children and loving father I know. I don't know how you do it all! Emily, it must be so difficult to make the best and right decisions for all involved. My heart goes out to you. Sending the whole family so much love.

      We told him to. This wasn't supposed to me a 'Mum and Dad answering questions', but the whole family speaking and giving their input. He did as he was asked, I talked non-stop, you can see him listening attentively and always trying to gauge when to input. Sometimes it resulted in us speaking over each other, but I also spoke over him too. He did extremely well and we were very proud ❤️

      I know I'm late..but give the child a compliment and move on . Hes in that development stage where he's learning and yet adults still have the tendency to interject inappropriately and give unsolicited advice along with backhanded compliments.This was not something that seriously stood out that you should have commented on. 😏

    Emily and Josh personally i feel your family will do much better in Uganda for now , supporting 4 kids in UK will be hard . I will suggest that you grow your you tube channel to a point where it can help financially . Moving to UK can also delay plans of you and josh having your own kids if that's what you plan to do. Pray about it and be patient. Don't make husty decisions.

    I always thought George Tallie and James were really unusually shy, but to be honest after watching this video i am not surprised they come across that way. Adam did not seem to let one person answer one question in this video without him interrupting, even midway through somebody elses sentence about themselves. As someone who works in childcare it is one of my biggest pet peeves when a child with a big personality takes all the spotlight from the quieter or calmer children. I have had children in my setting before who have been identified as non verbal and would only say a handful of basic common words. When the loud and hyperactive children were eventually moved to another room due to their age, within a week those non verbal children had started tlaking and having conversations and joining in with singing etc. Regardless of age children should know how to take turns, and that includes, probably most importantly, when talking. There are lots of games like the teddy talker, where the teddy gets passed to someone and you can only talk when the teddy is with you, if somebody else has it then its their turn.
    To be quite honest as much as i have watched your videos for years, and love your family, this video was verging on unbearable for me because as a q&a i have had to stop it before the end and dont remember even half of the questions you asked and answered because of how much Adam was interrupting and changing the topic every time. I of course have nothing against Adam obviously and its not his fault, but it shows bad manners and shows a lack of correction when he is being rude by talking over people. He should be corrected so that he learns to let people talk and express themselves openly without him stepping in

    • @TheLarters
      @TheLarters  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +7

      As someone who works in child-care, it's interesting to see how wrong you are about this. A lack of manners shown from you, an adult, too - really any need to tell us the video was 'unbearable'? Quite frankly, if we count up how many times Adam got involved, it's minimal compared to how much we were saying. It's a family Q&A. We wanted all the children to join in and talk as much as us. We would have been even happier if Adam had said more. We, obviously, also know Adam better than anyone, and know here he was trying SO hard to please us by following our exact instructions. We gave them all the instructions 'talk lots, don't wait for us to ask you, get involved, when we're talking you join in'. He did EXACTLY what he was told. He listened attentively to everything we said so that he was able to join in. We wanted us to bounce off each other, we were not going to pause - and at times, you may notice - I spoke over him too... Adam jumped in when he could but you can even see him waiting to see when to on very many occasions- if you watch back carefully. He tries to get involved, but often begins to input but stops when he realises Mum/Dad haven't finished. We wanted the others to do exactly like him and we hope to teach them to - so, blame the parents if you will, because we want them to be able to join in JUST like Adam. The others are not shy - Tallie is in fact a lot louder than Adam and has a lot more to say. She is confident to go up to strangers and start full blown conversations. People are shocked by how much she speaks and how much character she has. She was not quiet in this video because of him. George didn't participate much due to both his quiet nature and his stutter - he struggles to join in, if you give time to him and all are waiting on him to speak- it gets worse. James had no idea what was going on and paid no attention to anything anyone was saying. If Adam hadn't spoken, no-one would have. He was trying hard to appease us and actually, he's 'acting' for the camera, hence the big smile throughout. We also, obviously, correct our children regularly - but not on camera. So, you are very wrong about each child - which is rather concerning considering your "area of expertise". If you go back to around the 10 minute mark (or most parts, in fact), you'll see - we ask the other children questions directly and even then struggled to get any answers from them, despite Adam sitting quietly and waiting to hear what they had to say. We were very proud of Adam - he did fantastic and did exactly as we asked - and he is the one who got a treat from Josh afterwards for such a good job on camera ❤️

      @@TheLarters your response to me comes across as offended, which is understandable as its regarding your children, but as i said, i am a long time fan of you and your family, and although i stand by what i said, i did not in any way mean offence by my comment. I have a big dislike for people talking over eachother and i have been raised to believe it is rude, that's the only reason i said i find it rude. I did not say Adam was unbearable, i would never ever say that about a child, i just felt the video was getting unbearable at times because i couldn't handle the multiple voices at once when i felt the answers were important for people to hear as people have obviously asked the questions because they want to know.
      I do not know your children of course, and i did not say that the 3 other children were shy, i said i had always felt they came across shy (or something to that affect) but that in the case of this video specifically i could see why they were being shy because Adam did in fact take up most of the spotlight, which isnt a bad thing but the talking over eachother i personally felt was.
      I did not mean to sound as harsh as i feel maybe you took the comment, it may have come across in the comment, obviously being behind a screen, as harsh or rude, but i was just stating my opinion that for people trying to hear the answers to your questions it was coming across to me as overwhelming that it felt like almost every answer was interrupted. I of course understand kids will be kids and they can talk alot, and this isnt a criticism directly of Adam as a child of course, i just meant in this video, without the context you mentioned that you told the children not to wait to join in, it obviously came across differently when as a viewer we just see an adult ask a question to a specific child and another child take over, or an adult talking and a child interrupting, which to many people is rude, if they arent told that the child was instructed or given prior permission to do so. That is obviously different but there was no mention of that in the video, just a normal q&a with no mention of jow the children were feeling or what they were told to do or how they were told to do it.
      I do genuinely love your family and have felt on many occasions without even prompting from watching a video of yours, that if i had the money to do so, one of the first things i would do is support your familys goals, because i believe all of you are genuine and all the kids deserve what you are aiming for, and i do, i really really do and would not be put off watching more of your videos, i have been subscribed (or at least watching) for as long as i can remember. I love you and your family and in all other videos i have loved seeing Adams personality shine through because he really is such a bubbly character, it was jsut that this specific video to me was hard to sit through because there was too many voices at once and i like to be able to listen carefully snd take all the information in, which i felt i couldnt do properly in this video. It is not saying Adam is a rude or disrespectful child, not at all, hes just a kid being a kid, i know that, its just that as an example, if you have been told all your life its rude to spit your food out infront of people, and i made a video of my family eating and my kids were spitting their food out, you would probably find it hard to watch and not think it was good manners for my children to be doing that. If i then told you i had given my children new food to try and told them if they didnt like it jsut to spit it out and that in normsl circumstances i would correct them for spitting out their dinner but this time wanted it to be a group video of us trying something new with their input, you would say ahh okay that makes sense, but still, it was hard to watch.
      Thats all this is. I am not trying to dig at your family, i love watching you all, i just had strong feelings about this one due to the talking over and interrupting, not the amount of talking or the things which were being tlsked about etc, i jsut didnt like the way he spoke over you all so much but without context that he was told to do this, to an outsider it of course looked like he was just not giving people chance to talk and that he wasnt being corrected. Nobody knew he was told to do that and if we were it would of been a different response, of me saying he did really well to follow your instructions to talk as much as he could to fill the gaps and not leave anybody unde pressure to talk solo, but we didnt know that and your other q&a videos havent been like that or at least not to that extent and i have found it good before when you have done q&a with you and Adam and youve elt him talk but told him to let you finish or reminded him that you were talking and he has waited patiently. He shows good manners in many occasions, so on this occasion it felt like without context he wss just not being corrected how he usually was in videos if he did that same behaviour.
      I am sorry if you felt i was attacking you or your family or children, i was not, truly, i didnt mean it in a harsh way and i hope you can re read it with the view of me being confused why he was allowed to talk over you all when in previous videos he wss asked to wiat for you to finish speaking,. I hope you can read back ove rmy comment and hopefully interpret it differently and without malice when i have now (or at leadt i hope i have) explained myself and apologised for the way i came across

      all children are different! and absolutely nothing wrong with this video. i hope george isn’t struggling too much with his stutter, i had a really bad stutter as a kid and one thing that helped was if i read something out loud with headphones in and played music, and talked to the beat of it. it took away the pressure of listening to your own stutter and gave me something else to think about

    It will be very different, culturally, when Josh and the kids move to England. Nowadays there's a lot more immigrant families, compared to when my parents had and raised us in the UK (asian british). I grew up in a predominantly white area but i rarely noticed i was different until my teens years. I would suggest to have Ugandan as well as friends from other cultures in their lives who they could relate to more. London is more diverse.

      Actually. You are so very wrong. The instructions given to the children were: we are going to be answering questions. Please get involved, don’t wait for us to ask you questions. Talk lots - anything you want. He did exactly as asked. Josh even gave him a treat after for being so cooperative. We tried to involve the others many times, but they didn’t want to. The others are camera shy, nothing to do with not being able to speak. Tallie, off camera, talks 1000x more than Adam.

      It's quite a big problem here! Men with dreads especially are unfairly targeted by the police. Trust me whatever you experience with your hair is nothing, I'm actually surprised that's even a thing as a lot of Africans have loc's ....back to my main point it's nothing compared to what you'll ever experience here because you can always change your hair but you can never change your skin colour.

    • @TheLarters
      @TheLarters  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It's actually been a HUGE problem for Josh, he may speak a bit more about it in a future video. He doesn't feel he should have to change his hair to be treated fairly/equally - but he is unfairly targeted very often. It's for him to share more about though and this is me (Emilie!) commenting, so I will leave this to him! But as we said in video, we know it's not the same - but still is discrimination he does experience here on a huge scale.

    • @omadjourney
      @omadjourney 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@TheLarters well again as an African used to seeing that hairstyle I will take it that it's a problem in his village/ town but definitely not widespread enough to be an issue in Africa. Of course he deserves to have his hair however he chooses to without people judging but it's ignorance not racism on any scale of the imagination. Africans can never be "racist" against other Africans but ignorant... very much so.

    • @TheLarters
      @TheLarters  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It's definitely an issue across Uganda as a whole, but I can't say for other African countries. There's a bit of info about it on Google - and how people with dreadlocks are unfairly targeted by authorities. Not racism, but discrimination - yes! @@omadjourney

    • @omadjourney
      @omadjourney 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@TheLarters please let me firstly apologise if I came across as not respecting your husband's experience because it matters and I should understand that and secondly explain that it comes from disbelief how they can treat a man differently because of the choice of his hair and i have to understand that just because we are all African doesn't mean that we see things the same. It does anger me that some people are that small minded but in the same breath I have to understand that some Africans don't know anything beyond what they are living amongst. Please accept my apology if I came across disrespectful through my confusion at the ignorance.
