Perhaps Paxman was remembering that he had himself written, in a book published in 2002 before any government dossier, that Iraq definitely had chemical weapons.

Come on, give him a break. Jeremy Paxman isn't a total hypocrite for writing a book in 2001 (before the dossier) that said Iraq definitely had chemical weapons, and then after the war questioning how anyone in government could possibly believe such a claim was true.
Iraq did have chemical weapons (Saddam Gassed his own people) He certainly didn't have WMD capable of hitting London in 45 minutes , which was Campbell and Bliars claim.
