I have met Alistair Campbell face to face, he is a very intimidating man when he needs to be. When I met him in 2017 he was very nice, charming man, but he is tall and intimidating in real life. He is 6 Ft 2, and I am only 5 Ft 6. He knows he has the power to demolish you in a meeting or interview when he needs too.
Except for when he was a young journalist and he asked a smart question to Margaret Thatcher and got eaten up and spat out. Perhaps he learned his tricks from her.
Perhaps Paxman was remembering that he had himself written, in a book published in 2002 before any government dossier, that Iraq definitely had chemical weapons.

Well said👍he is a warmonger! He voted to take the UK to war! How can someone who was once a journalist end up in a government under Blair and against what the uk public wanted had the power to make that decision?
Come on, give him a break. Jeremy Paxman isn't a total hypocrite for writing a book in 2001 (before the dossier) that said Iraq definitely had chemical weapons, and then after the war questioning how anyone in government could possibly believe such a claim was true.
Iraq did have chemical weapons (Saddam Gassed his own people) He certainly didn't have WMD capable of hitting London in 45 minutes , which was Campbell and Bliars claim.
Paxman did a very good job there on one of the toughest days for the BBC in its history.
I'm sorry, really? Paxman has never been able to deal with Blair or here with Campbell...
Thank you for uploading!

Campbell is a boss
This felt very defensive on the part of Paxman although it didn’t seem like it was coming from him.

Hatchet man for Blairism

@@DBIVUK You're confused. I'm talking about Campbell

The Hutton inquiry was a sham. Disgraceful journalism from Paxman.
