The next best thing is to find a Hawaiian cultural group in your area. And you can listen to great music on TH-cam- like slack key guitar music. Keola Beamer is wonderful.
One way to get to Hawaii is to volunteer on a farm or orchard. WWOOF website. Then you just watch for an off season plane ticket. Maui needs for people to return after the devastating fires. I know you have a lot on your plate these days though. As do I.
Dear Lily, a lovely Tuesday to you and good evening from me. Thank you for sharing a little of this Hawaiian story with us. I find the Hawaiian language very beautiful too. I wish you and your family a blessed and wonderful week ahead Lily. Love and hugs from me 🙏❤️
Heya Janet, I've been super busy here so not online much. I was glad to see your comment here so I could perhaps see how your doing. I hope the cracks in your heart have begun to heal. 🧡
@@Montana_horseman Hi David, I'm happy to see you here too. Thank you for checking in on me, I'm doing better each day, but some days still a little not myself. The heart will heals eventually, it still aches a lot but I try to smile more thinking of my Yoshi's mischief. You take care David, God's blessing be with you and your loved ones always 🙏💖

Fascinating story, and lovely looking pictures. Amazing that they should come from Tahiti of all places! Very impressive that you have been learning this language too.
Polynesians are amazing for their skills in sea travel. I’ve read a lot about that- a European writer was astounded at the details of the currents and winds the natives understood. There are lots of Hawaiians living in the Pacific Northwest- more than half the natives live on the mainland now, going where they can get work and afford family homes. Lots of them in Las Vegas area, strange to say. There are halau( cultural schools) in the most surprising places. I enjoy learning slack key guitar and ukulele- so that goes along with learning the language of the songs. It’s easier than my grandparent’s Gaelic. 😆
Thanks, Allen. I watched a movie about the Blue Angels while at a friend’s house. I always enjoy seeing them in Seattle every summer. I hope all is well with you.
Hi, Lily. I'm not familiar with this particular island so the history is fascinating to me. Such diverse backgrounds and origins. Hope you're well, my friend. Peace.
Very interesting and I love that the story is told in native tongue also. I got to say 🤔a bowling ally.. really.. for a bowling ally.. ughh..😒 I hope you're doing great! 🤗
A heck of a lot of changes from various cultures there. But fortunately it was saved. There is a stone from Tahiti that was brought to place on the altar there. Full circle.
You have a beautiful voice. I think you need to take a trip to Wakiki beach to find one of those stones to heal your hurting knees 😂😂😂 Squatting is the worst exercise to do for hurting knees. It is too hard on the knee joints. Swimming and cycling is best if joints become troublesome, but also yoga and pilates. I have not tried wall Pilates yet, but it looks as if it might be good.
Some of these health channels really vouch for the Asian squat😆. Recommending 5 minutes or more a day. I can walk miles a day but squat? No. I love swimming though. There is a free yoga class here so maybe I should investigate.
Dearest Lily thank you so very much for this little video - it is one of those histories that is overlooked and deserves its day in the Sun 💛🌞💛
You are the kind of woman who appreciates these things. The artist in you.
I believe in the healing stones, believe in a lot of things. I wish I could travel to Hawaii.

Hey Sean👋👋
that was very cynical whoever turned that sacred site into a bowling alley! 🎳
It’s surprising that there were people who remembered and enough people to resurrect them.
The word wai means water- waikiki means spouting fresh water- there were a lot of springs and streams there.
Another fun tidbit.
