This is the Raga which Mian Tansen sang that started a fire in the sultan‘s palace, according to legend. He thought it was too dangerous to perform at all, but the sultan commanded him to do it. So he had his daughters sing rag Megh to create rain to put the fire out. It’s rarely performed today, for obvious reasons. I thought it had been lost

Just a myth.... Tansen was a great musician but nonetheless a "paid" singer in a court. I don't think he had such capabilities.

@@ambhat3953 A legend, yes, but it might still be true. I certainly wouldn't claim there is scientific proof for it. But there are more things in heaven and earth etc. And I don't think the fact that he was paid makes it less likely.

@@williamrockwell3628 All i meant is Tansen was a great music performer, but not a music "yogi". I feel the story is true, but wrongly attributed to Tansen

Sounds like a combination of Shree and Puriya Dhanashree. Shudh ma makes it different from the mentioned two.Rarely heard.
