I can't even tell you how excited I am right now. The big boy is my all time favorite locomotive and this model is just perfect. I am so happy Lionel finally included the chuff going in and out of sync. I've been trying to figure out for the longest time why they haven't done it. Anyway like you said, this is probably one of the nicest O-scale locomotives ever made...
Nice Eric , the whistle is really awsome I love the way it lingers and reverb's. And you answered my question about the shark noses.i was thinking the same thought.
Great layout Eric. I've just partitioned part of my warehouse to accommodate my layout that was previously portable so I could support Milton Florida's Lionel Christmas. Got some great inspiration from your layout as I expand.
@ERIC'S TRAINS - I LOVE THAT "MADE IN CHINA" red letters on the box. LOL!!! AWESOME TRAIN! CONGRATS! I know you will enjoy that UNION PACIFIC Big Boy for a long, long time!
This deserves 2 thumbs up.. The sound is waaaay better than any model locomotive I've heard in ANY scale. Atlas O needs to redo it's locomotive sounds in their diesels.
I live by the place where the 4014 stayed before it was moved to restoration. I got to blow the whistle a couple times. Best feeling I ever had. I think all museum with trains should have air tanks hooked up the the whistles so that people can blow them and experience the rush.
I have an older Lionel 4008 (I think) which seems to be essentially the same tooling, and I can say it's an amazing loco. Looking forward to seeing this guy in action on your review. Seeing the 4014 in May was a real treat, it's hard to imagine how big these things are until you're standing next to one. Just checked, the one I have is the 4006.
BTW I don't have any model trains in O-scale (I only have some German locomotives in HO scale and no track to run them on), but now, I want to see more Vision Line Challengers, with Union Pacific Challengers 3977 and 3985 added!!! Because those are the only 2 Challenger steam locomotives that escaped the scrapyard and they deserve some Vision Line love! And a Vision Line Big Boy 4023 would be the icing on the cake... Who's with me!?
Id be happy if my layout would be half as nice as yours. The video's that you have is most educational and enjoyable to watch. When I look at your video's, I try to look for items that I own that is on your layout.
Hi Eric, Jeffrey's grandma here. We just watched your video. Jeff wants to say....epic epic video. I hope to be getting the Big Boy.4014 soon. I hope I see you at your next open house.
Man this Lionel Vision Line Big Boy goes for about $2,500.00 on Ebay and that is the cheapest price for the new ones. Man that engine will look so sweet on your layout!!! I can't wait to see it in action!
That is one great engine. Wish I had the room and budget for O scale. Great detail and steam functions that sadly my N scale or even ho scale will never attain.
I dare to say Lionel's Vision Line Big Boy is the best model steam locomotive ever made... Regardless what size class of model railroading! Does Lionel also make models for other size classes like HO? I think MTH does that...
yea 1990 was when Lionel left the HO market for the 2nd time in their history (first time was 1967) and they do occasional HO models like the Veranda Turbine HO in 2003 and the 2016 HO Polar Express.
SteamKing2160 I maybe late but Lionel has just started making HO scale again. They’re offering an HO Polar Express train set in the 2018 Volume 1 catalog.
I was just as excited to receive my Big Boy. Just was really disappointed when I open my box and see it was missing one of the marker light lenses and the bell was loose in the box.
this is an awsome video to watch. Eric can you give the price from the store you got yours from? I'm kind of interested on getting that type of train in my really small collection. I just wanna know the price from there.
was the vision line big boy only built to order for the 2014 year and never to be made again or will they be mass produced later? by the time i found out about this engine, it was too late for me to place an order
It's pretty much a one time thing. If they do make it again, it won't be for a long time...as in maybe 5 or 10 years. Many dealers ordered extras, however, so if you act quickly you can still get one.
eric the shark nose baldwins you just posted are those the ones on the shelf in the video you got or was it just coincidence that they just happen to be the smame ones you got
I can't even tell you how excited I am right now. The big boy is my all time favorite locomotive and this model is just perfect. Railroadkid1937 Right on. Thanks!
Awesome Eric. Your videos are the reason I am getting back into trains since my son grew up!
That whistle... oh my god. I haven't heard a whistle that awesome since the TMCC years between 1995 and 2002.
Just Started the Hobby, Got My First Train Yesterday :D
Yeah, Atlanta's traffic is pretty wild! Lol. Good luck with the new Big Boy and Merry Christmas!
Nice Eric , the whistle is really awsome I love the way it lingers and reverb's.
And you answered my question about the shark noses.i was thinking the same thought.
Domenic Maio Thanks
Great video! That is the most beautiful engine ever! I wish I could afford one.
Wow! What a beautiful engine and horn! I wish they had that much detail in n scale .
Josh
This deserves 2 thumbs up..

Tanks for sharing this incredible moment! It brings O scale to a new level.
Great Eric - thanks for all your info - it has been a inspiration to me wile I have been working on my layout over the past year or so.
Eric, incredible engine! Thanks for sharing this video, enjoyed watching this. I'm looking forward to your full review.
When you said “traffic’s not too bad” I thought to myself, yeah right there’s almost nothing I would drive to Atlanta for. Then I saw the end 😂
The Big Boy looks great and the coal feature are great. Will have to see your review on the Big Boy.
Man. That’s impressive. I seriously hope to get one of these engines one day and compare it to the JLC Big Boy from 2006.
#4014 then #3985 then
#844 from Lionel, that would be sweet to see. thanks Eric for the video. And Merry Christmas.
Hi Eric & Brian • Very cool see you out of train room and on the road to show us the U.P. 4014. Very cool.
• Happy New Year from Michigan
That sure is a beauty , and with being in 0 gauge the sounds come through great
Looking forward to the full review . Looks fantastic. Excellent channel , very enjoyable thank you.
All of your videos are "top shelf" but this one is my favorite. I hate Atlanta traffic, too!! :)

I dare to say Lionel's Vision Line Big Boy is the best model steam locomotive ever made... Regardless what size class of model railroading!
Does Lionel also make models for other size classes like HO? I think MTH does that...
Not anymore. They did in like the 70s but got out of it and stuck to O scale
Ah...
(hears the crew talk with road number) Idiots! It's pronounced forty-fourteen!
yea 1990 was when Lionel left the HO market for the 2nd time in their history (first time was 1967) and they do occasional HO models like the Veranda Turbine HO in 2003 and the 2016 HO Polar Express.

this is an awsome video to watch. Eric can you give the price from the store you got yours from? I'm kind of interested on getting that type of train in my really small collection. I just wanna know the price from there.
Saslovsky Koslov He said in his review of the Big Boy that it was just under $2000.
was the vision line big boy only built to order for the 2014 year and never to be made again or will they be mass produced later? by the time i found out about this engine, it was too late for me to place an order

Is that a good powerful steam locomotive
I know a lot about the UP Big Boy.

The 4014 is being moved in Cheyenne Wyoming
Big boy’s whistle also sounds like 844
Where is that store that you went to to get your train?
YYYAAAAAYYYYY!!!!!!

It's got one, it's just hidden.
Haha
ericstrains Eric how rich are you
awesome coal!
OMG SWEET
eric the shark nose baldwins you just posted are those the ones on the shelf in the video you got or was it just coincidence that they just happen to be the smame ones you got

You are one lucky person because lionel said that they will only make as many engines that were ordered if u no what I mean ericstrains
Meant to ask you, and your video just reminded me, How are you liking your new truck?
Ben Schmied It's awesome. Love it.
good to hear!!
do you own a train store? just wondering.
Atlanta traffic? HA!! Try New York City Metro Area, Pittsburgh, and Seoul ROK.
Rome, Italy is even worse.
Do not know what you do for a living but you should be in voice over and commercial business, Voice and dictation is great.
arthurhouston3 Thanks
Where's episode 50?
They specify the number!!!
nice
