Allow me to make a little headcanon about what’s happened here.. This might be an alternate timeline to I Hate You. Mario and Luigi were in the middle of fighting as they did in the original I Hate You.. but this time.. Bowser showed up, and decided he didn’t need Luigi’s help anymore, and decided to try to throw him into the lava.. however.. Mario couldn’t allow Bowser to kill his brother.. so he grabbed Luigi’s hand, and pulled him up just before he fell into the lava.. Suddenly.. Luigi looked into Mario’s eyes, and he realized Mario had always cared about Luigi since the beginning, and how wrong he was in trying to take him out.. Now, with Luigi’s faith in his brother restored.. Once again.. The two brothers face off against Bowser, ready to put an end to his reign of terror.. once and for all..
I always thought that in the IHY universe after Luigi succeeded Bowser will continue to use him as somewhat of a hit man. But eventually one day will betray him because at the end of the day he still helped Mario in some adventures.
