How To Add A Calendar To Your Website - Django Wednesdays #2

- In this video I'll show you how to add a dynamic Calendar to your Website with Django and Python.
We'll also look at creating dynamic urls using Path Converters that will allow you to pass specific items from your url, like a month or year, into your webpage.
We'll look at the Python Calendar and learn how to add it to a webpage, and also how to convert a month name, like March, into it's corresponding number (like 3).
We'll also spend a minute talking about Context Dictionaries and how to use them to pass data from the Django backend to the frontend webpage.

Thank you so much, John! Thank you for making our coding life a bit easier :) could you make a tutorial on how to style the HTMLCalendar and populate it with events from the database? Thank you man!
Yeah we'll get into that

Thank you very very very much!!!

Perfect! But, how I can link on a specific day on the calendar? And, how I can style the calendar? I try to find the video with them and can`t do this. Did you make this video?
thank you for this course!
You're very welcome!
Man you amazing !!!Thnks !
Thanks for watching!
dear sir instead of using git bash to run you can press "ctrl+b" key combinations to run your program hope you can see it
No thanks, I prefer not to do that as there are drawbacks
@@Codemycom ok sir as your student, it is responsibility of mine that he should try everything to make comfort to his teacher
@@bhavyamverma70 No, it's really not.
Hey John
Please let me know
If we had left the work previous day means exit everything and when we try to start the same work again
Is it running the same command again and again
Like activate enviornment
Start django project
you always have to activate your virtual environment. You would not start a new django project but would start the server.
I am going to be learning a lot from you. Meet you late I wish it was 5years ago
Ha, it's never too late!
thank you sir
Most welcome
Great videos! Have a quick question though. How did you make the dynamic url for each month?
I did everything onscreen in the video...
@Codemycom hmm thank you. I guess I'm missing something as I cant find it. I'm guessing you created the websites off screen.. couldn't follow your viedos from the beginning cos of that.
@@tommy8638 you guess wrong, I did absolutely everything on screen
Im glad you started another Django Series, but aer you going to publish the django blog website?
I'm done with the Django blog playlist
I was thinking it would be great if days on which events are scheduled were identified, maybe by color or some other way. Also, it would be helpful with we could click on a date to see what events are scheduled for that day AND to be able to add a new event on that date. What do you think?
Good ideas
you are the best man
Thanks!
The list.index() method returns int.
Why in line 10 we use extra cast to int?
P.S Thanks for very useful stuff
Great
Glad you enjoyed it!
Perfect
Thanks!
Is Django also used for the backend development of the website?
Yes, that's what Django is.
Awesome Content John. Much respect for these videos. Can you please push the code to some github account, it would be easier to follow the changes, thank you again for your time :-)
My code is always in the pinned comment
what is different between django calendar and just html calendar ?
the look
I have a problem with this tutorial. After writing the code the way you wrote it it’s saying
The empty path didn't match any of these. You're seeing this error because you have DEBUG = True in your Django settings file. Change that to False , and Django will display a standard 404 page. I have been battling with this for 3 days now. Can’t still figure out the problem.
Why not just do what it says? Change DEGBUG = False in your settings.py file.
@@Codemycom The result after changing debug to false:
CommandError: You must set settings.ALLOWED_HOST if DEBUG is false
Hi, has anyone seen another template code e.g. also with buttons that automatically go to the next or last month? Thanks a lot!
I have a question. How can we show dynamic time(hour, minute and second) in django?
same way you would with any python code
Hey! I was wondering if Google Calendar API can respond from my django website backend code. For example, if I want to schedule 12 psychology classes in the calendar, the algorithm in my django website can calculate which dates to input the psychology class if I just click one button in my website. However, I would like to display this on a clean calendar like Google Calendar. Is it possible? If not, is there an alternative?
No clue, I've never used it. But if it has an API, then it's probably possible. I have no videos on that.
How do you show same events for multiple dates like (from date) to (to date)
still working with Django 4
It should
Is it possible to also add the day to the url e.g. to display content based on that
sure
Great tutorial! Can you make a notification system so when someone post on blog you get a notification
sure
How do I make it only show it as this week calendar?
Can we improve the look of our calender?
Not easily
Sir, could you please make a video on integrating Google Calendar with a Django Project?
@@Coldcorn I figured it out myself bro. Just go to Google Calendar website from your pc... Go under settings to integrate Google Calendar to your website... Copy the embeded code HTML and use it on your website
good morning , please how can i style that calendar ? or isn't that possible
Sorry, I have no videos on that...it takes quite a bit of hacking.
@@Codemycom thanks for your response, is there any easy way to include a calendar in my project, I am trying to build calendar for taking appointments , what to you think is the best solution ?
Anyone else having trouble with “name ‘List’ is not defined” error in python 4?
The current version of Python is 3.9
Please say about groups and Custom Login
We'll probably get to that eventually
👍🏻
:-)
where can i get the code of this video ???
bit.ly/3sJpeV6
How would you make it look good?
Oh nvm
We'll do that later
Wow
:-)
