Listening in October 2024. For me this is like time travel. I first heard Aled when I lived in England and he was a boy singing this song. I now live in Spain and have been here since 1986. Now TH-cam allows time travel - like Aled singing with his younger self, and now this marvellous Malakai; heavenly.
The way Malakai reaches the top F with such ease and strength of voice is just wonderful. One of the best trebles I’ve ever heard. Aled look at him him with such pride, clearly appreciating the young man’s voice himself.

For me as a teacher it's the tangible pride Aled has in his young counterpart that I love to see here. He just can't help darting the encouraging glances, he's fit to burst with pride, all the while treating him as his equal. You can keep Mariah - this is my go to festive mood!!!

I’ve honestly cried a few times listening to this. So stunningly delivered by young Malakai and Aled. When Malakai solo’s “fall on your knees, Oh hear the angels voices” the tingle down my back listening to his angelic voice is prophetic and makes me tear up. Absolutely beautiful my goodness. I was a 2nd soprano as a child. When my voice matured I was able to sing tenor/ baritone. I however found I could still sing 2nd soprano as my falsetto. I sincerely hope that when this young man crosses puberty, he retains his beautiful voice.❤
I don't know anything about singing but a similar thought did occur to me. I guess puberty CAN affect the vocal cords in a tremendous fashion. Can you still sing soprano?
@@Nadeine Oh yes. I’m a senior citizen now, but I still surprise folks with the opening notes of “Ave Maria”. I come from a very musical family. Mom and all of her sisters and brother sang. My aunt who was my second grade teacher and church choir director said that I was singing along with the commercials on the tv from my playpen @ 18 months old. Thing was she said, I didn’t start talking till I was 2 and it was proper Queen’s English. Very proper. Kids used to say I talked funny. I’ve had several grandchildren who’ve done it too. I’m keeping my eye on them. One female like me started on folk guitar, moved to electric guitar and like her grandpa has continued with Bass guitar. I gave her mine for her H.S. graduation.

Agreed, I was surprised at some of Alex's harmonies, not ones I'd heard before in this song, but they were voiced so beautifully and really let Malakai's voice shine through.

I’ve honestly cried a few times listening to this. So stunningly delivered by young Malakai and Aled. When Malakai solo’s “fall on your knees, Oh hear the angels voices” the tingle down my back listening to his angelic voice is prophetic and makes me tear up. Absolutely beautiful my goodness. I was a 2nd soprano as a child. When my voice matured I was able to sing tenor/ baritone. I however found I could still sing 2nd soprano as my falsetto. I sincerely hope that when this young man crosses puberty, he retains his beautiful voice.❤
I don't know anything about singing but a similar thought did occur to me. I guess puberty CAN affect the vocal cords in a tremendous fashion. Can you still sing soprano?

@@Nadeine Oh yes. I’m a senior citizen now, but I still surprise folks with the opening notes of “Ave Maria”. I come from a very musical family. Mom and all of her sisters and brother sang. My aunt who was my second grade teacher and church choir director said that I was singing along with the commercials on the tv from my playpen @ 18 months old. Thing was she said, I didn’t start talking till I was 2 and it was proper Queen’s English. Very proper. Kids used to say I talked funny. I’ve had several grandchildren who’ve done it too. I’m keeping my eye on them. One female like me started on folk guitar, moved to electric guitar and like her grandpa has continued with Bass guitar. I gave her mine for her H.S. graduation.
