    Why are private parking fines considered extortion while council parking fine extortion is never discussed?

    • @varidian694
      @varidian694 18 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Because a council one is essentially government owned property such as a hospital car park and as such it's in the public interest to stop people from abusing parking and such - a private car park is essentially an invoice not a fine.

    Where can I find protection of freedoms act? Is it on the signage in the car park? Or is it on the letter I received?

      Google 'Protections of Freedom Act 2012 schedule 4' and you will see where to view the requirements.

    Can the parking fine be unlimited? What I mean is, can the cost of that ticket continue to go up if you don't pay for it? Just so I understand, I had a few and ignored them, and now I have a CCJ or decree for the Scots.
    I had moved out of my house six months prior and, due to work, I never updated my address everywhere and had no knowledge of the court action until it hit my credit file.

      Hi @unshakableresilience! In many circumstances private car park fines aren't enforceable, but you could be taken to a small claims court if it isn't paid. You could get in touch with them first to understand the fine, then go from there. This article can shed more light on the matter: moneynerd.co.uk/private-car-park-fines-enforceable/ Hope this helps!

    • @MoneyNerd
      @MoneyNerd  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hey @unshakableresilience, you can appeal against a PCN if it's not served within 14 days. This article can give you an idea of what to do next: moneynerd.co.uk/how-long-pcn-issued-after-offence/

    • @unshakableresilience
      @unshakableresilience 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@MoneyNerd okay so it has come to light that I have made an error of not updating the V5 log book of my current address. I genuinely thought it would be updated automatically as you update the driving license. Therefore it’s possible for the initial PCN to have gone to my former address. Given that it is my error do I have any grounds to appeal. Worries that I will get into even more trouble for this error and incur an even higher fine

    • @MoneyNerd
      @MoneyNerd  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      While it's true that the fine increases if you don't pay on time (after 28 days), there's still a chance to challenge it due to the PCN not being delivered to the right address. Here's an article that provides more detail: moneynerd.co.uk/council-and-police-fines/penalty-charge-notice/

    Here's what's enforceable to those in the know: Nothing. If any of these money-grubbing gay-gov companies tries give you hassle over parking or other fines... your best solution is to sell your vehicle and cease driving. Let them try and enforce that.
