Started taekwondo when I was about 8. I loved it until I got my green belt and then started to hate it. I ended up getting to a black belt 1st degree. I hated it and loved it. If your thinking of taking classes, do it. Most rewarding thing I’ve ever done in my life. It’s contributes to who I am today
I'm seeing a lot of comments where people are saying they have a test coming up and they need to learn the form. If you have a test coming up, you should know the form already. At this point, cleaning it up and fine tuning it are more appropriate concerns. I took the as an adult years ago. I always likened the progression of belts as if I were passing through grammer and high school. You are introduced to increasingly difficult material with each belt rank while improving on the previous material just as you should with basic educational learning. By the time I received a black belt, I already understood that I was only at the beginning of what there was to learn. The black belt was like graduating high school. Yes, I had a foundation, but I was a master of nothing. Sadly, I wasn't able to keep up my journey in the, but I will always value those years I spent training.
The ultimate goal of martial arts is to better yourselfe as a person not only in a dojo etc , that's what i have learned but i get it , i miss being a young energetic physical fighter too ,but later on i learned that it's not all about fighting aponents, it's over coming your obstacles, anyway stay strong and may the force be with you, osu
I received my black belt in 1992 and I ceased practicing in 1995. I have now decided to return to the art 27 years later at the age of 55. I found this instructional video to be an excellent tool for recall. Wish me luck please.
I had to unfortunately stop practicing do to a knee injury and mental health issues. Its been YEARS, and I have been hesitating on practicing and returning again. Between mental and physical memory I remember most of the katas up to Teaguek 7. Welp I got a lot of practicing to do during this quarantine. (although I have firmly made my mind not to return to my specific dojo, but will go back for another art). Thanks for listening to my rant. Thank you for posting this video as well!
I know how you feel man cause i have broke my ankle a few years ago and doctors said that i wouldn't be able to play football again or anything but i still play on a lower level with a few friends and also joined a kyokishin karate school but the prob is that it hurts my ancle when i do a few katas wher you have to bend your ancle in kibadachi stance the one stance where one leg is straight behind you and the other one is bent about 90 degrees or something like that but what I've learned is that you can still do what you love and support others cause we are older now and more experience and the goal is not to be the best or better fighter but to be a better person but have fun and enjoy yourselfe , adapt but don't over do it osu 💪💪

I have my black belt test tomorrow so I’m just reviewing these briefly Of course I’m not the best at sparring and form but it’s pretty decent. I wanna try to slightly fix it up a bit if I can before the test and this is helping a lot (Also considering that I get a memory slip in 5 and 6 this helps a lot ty)
It is great that your coach is keeping you active and engaged. These are the current forms for all World Taekwondo tournaments, championships, and Olympics. Keep up the good work!
First of all, put the time and work into it. Second, make sure early on, that you are doing each move correctly. You don't want to develop a habit of doing a move wrong or it will be harder to correct later. Also, make the kicks, strikes, and blocks all snap. After enough reps, your muscle memory will know what the next step is. You won't have to think about it. Its like a foreman once told me, "95% of doing something right is giving a s###."
