Thanks Scott - I hadn’t noticed the dropdown.

Hello again Scott, I love IR photography too. I started with IR filter and than had my camera converted to BW and do not need tripod. I am not amazing technical landscape photographer like you and I guess it helped me to figure out IR the simple way I like to see it. I would like to share my workflow ,but my English is not good for that. I am not much of a talker and on top of that I am "computer dummy!" I would love to show you some of my images to know what you think. You must forget your regular classic photography! I shoot only on bright sunny day with lot of shadows and trees with green leaves, Make custom WB in camera from green leaf
or for BW , shoot in BW. Only green leaves give you perfect white which is the idea about IR to me anyway! :-)

Hi Eva... feel free to share your work. TH-cam often doesn't allow URLs to be posted. You can contact me through my website. www.scottdavenportphoto.com/contact

Good review of what's needed to get started! If I get any useful tips, I will share; just getting "into" IR.

Thanks for this, Scott. I have a converted 20D, which I have used a little, but the final processing has been a problem. This will send me back for another go.
I must have missed your earlier videos on the subject - can you provide links?
    Thanks and regards.

Hi Malcolm... the pointer to my first video is in the description. (Or at least it should be! It shows up for me... let me know if you don't see it.)

    Hello Scott,
Just purchased to Lifepixel a D5600 full spectrum, three external filters 470, 590, 830nm. Waiting for my parcel...
So i am very happy to see that tutorial.
How do you make the psychedelic colors of infrared ? i have read we must use photoshop channel mixer.
I have also just purchased Laura Klein Luminar presets to see...
    best regards
    marc

AFAIK, you need a channel mixer. I've not done any work in that space. I personally prefer the black & white infrared, and the camera I converted is only B&W. IIRC, Blake Rudis does some IR work. You might check his channel from some color IR tutorials.

hi Scott, Quesstion for you, you said in your previous video that you converted your camera to 850nm, may I ask why didn't you go with 720nm, cnsidering that you could always stick an 850nm filter on the front of the lens and get it that way?

No technical reason, personal choice, really. I like the B&W look for IR, not a fan of the color IR images. A filter would be one extra thing to carry and work with.

Sorry Scott, no tips, just at the learning stage like you, but this is a very helpful guide for Lightroom users.

thanks Scott! very clear. I have one problem.. I cant see the profile in lightroom under the calibration dropdown. I just get Version 1 to 5, no custom profiles. When I import the profile, lightroom says its already importetd. I can see the profile in the Basic settings though, but it makes the image just green. any ideas? thanks in advance!

The profile is a camera profile, so the Basic area makes sense in more recent LR versions (the option moved since I made the video). As for the green ... I'd revisit the DCP profile, perhaps create a few, and not only adjust white balance but also explore curves or tint adjustments.

    Hi Scott,
I'm interested in using the corrected profile in Lightroom and I've downloaded the DNG Profile Editor, exported a DNG file to my Mac desktop but when I click on the base profile and get "choose external profile" my image pulls up but "open" is greyed out, only "cancel" is available. I've looked at a variety of TH-cam videos about this and no one comments on this. I'm at a loss as to how to get the image into the profiler. Any ideas? Thanks for your help!

Hi Michael... hmm... not sure what's happening. Let me preface this with, for Lightroom CC/Classic CC users, you might not need this anymore. I have a video going up tomorrow where I use the new Adobe profiles - and it worked really well for my B&W IR work.
That being said... when you first launch the DNG Profile Editor, a dialog with a color wheel and "Untitled Recipe" should be open. Go directly to Open Image and choose your DNG file. Then make your tweaks to the Color Matrices (and curves if you want that). Lastly, use File > Export profile to save your changes out.
The DNG Profile Editor isn't the most robust piece of software written. And I've had odd behaviors with it when I try to do anything but create a profile. Though again... if you're a CC user, you might be happy with the new Adobe profiles. Another channel subscriber also pointed out these CC profiles: onlinephotographytraining.com/2018/05/01/morganti-infrared-lightroom-profiles/ Might be what you're looking for.
      Hope this helps.

I’m confused why you are fiddling with white balance for a B&W image when converting to B&W is literally one click. Why all the extra work? WB is really only relevant when processing for color
