You did this job before you replaced/fixed the steering rack due to it leaking, right? And it wasnt leaking at this point I guess. What if I told you it could be because of this job? Pretty much no one does that, but the book says you need to counterhold the steering rack to prevent transferring the force to the seals & other internals. Some cars even have slots on the rack so you can do this. Renault doesn't have them but they do specify a tool Dir. 1833 that is screwed onto the rack and holds it in place so you can undo or tighten the tie rods
