  • The Benjamin Franklin is the largest cargo ship in the world. Today, Dec 31, 2015, we watched it pass under the Golden Gate Bridge for the first time. It was followed by helicopters, the Coast Guard, tugs, and Pilot vessels. It passed another ship on the way in and they blew horns under the bridge.

Actually, one of the largest, not the largest in the world, but the largest to go to a US port. Which is surprising.
Still, a very cool video. Thanks for posting.

You need a lot of skill to pilot that beast...!!!!It's interesting that a ship owned by a London company and built in China is named after a U.S. President.....

Benjamin Franklin was one of the Founding Fathers, never a US Pres. But regardless, I agree it's interesting. The Wiki page for the ship doesn't say why it was names so.
