- In Thekkady, we visited Periyar tiger reserve, went on a boat ride to see wild animals, took an Elephant ride, Cooked Maggie at a viewpoint in our camper van, and finally saw the cultural dance of Kerala called Kathakali. Overall it was a great experience in God's own country Kerala.

My father (when he was alive till April 2016), an avid traveller, always used to say that his visit to Thekkady Sanctuary and Periyar Lake Boat Safari were two of the greatest experiences in his life. The pristine settings of these two places are captured (maybe one inside the other place) fantastically in this video. The ethnic Kathakali dance performance was also very enjoying

Went to Thekkady way back in 2010. The year right after the tragic accident in Periyar lake occurred. We did not go boating but we did explore the forests, rode an elephant, visited a spice garden and a waterfall. Remember it being a beautiful place with friendly people and lovely weather.
PS. I believe Teak woodcraft is famous in Thekkady. Do check it out.

We didnt tk boat ride but saw elephants n dear n bison in Thekaddi mny yrs back . Thr ws option of elephant ride inside the jungle but we didnt go.I wanted to go inside the jungle. We didnt hv the time. I dnt knw if anyone has seen tiger. However, i still remember the place is pristine n mesmerising. place
