There is the "Affinity Photo Workbook", it's wrote for v1 of Photo but covers all the basics and more of how Photo works. I think it's out of print now but is readily available for around $10-12 on the used book sites such as World of Books.
Been using serif since it was given away free on IBM PCs with windows 95, still using affinity photo and it never hurts to be reminded of the basics, many thanks
Please make it possible to copy and paste all raw adjustments from one photo to another. The "preset" function is very slow because of all the different tabs, and I don't want to save presets so then I have to delete them. It's very tedious.
Great intro for Affinity Photo. Although I have been using Affinity tools since the day they were were first launched, I learnt a few things from this tutorial! What I find quite different in Affinity Photo from the other common photo editor (shall not be named) is the Channels system. An intro to the Channels with how to utilize it for different needs (such as creating, editing and saving complex masking) would be great.
Hello Affinity team! I really appreciate all the powerful features and user-friendly design in your software. However, I often work with Arabic text, and the lack of right-to-left (RTL) language support makes it challenging to create professional designs in Affinity. It would be fantastic if you could add native support for Arabic and other RTL languages in future updates, as this would make Affinity even more versatile and valuable for users worldwide. Thank you!
Very useful tips, some of which I didn't know like brush shortcuts. I hope you eventually (like Figma) add the option to adjust keyboard shortcuts based on your keyboard type, for things like brush size, layer order, etc.
Thanks for such a beautifull.. And a powerfull Graphic software.. Love from india😊 You Guys are Really thinking of every creator, designer, editor in the world.. Thank you so much guys❤️ 🥰 just dont make the software subscribtion base like adobe company.. 😇 thanks again
Just love Affinty Photo 2….I do astrophotography and love also JR Astro Macros…. 👉❤️😊 Request: Please it is important to have the ability to save the image in 32 Tiff floating point…I know about HDR but I have to bring that into Gimp and change it to Tiff 32 bit floating before I take it into Pixinsight. I work with more than one software as you see ….please do add this new feature in your next version…it would be most appreciated.
I want to select two layers with a selection and transform this content at the same time. I've been using affinity for over 4 years now and I've never been able to do this. It frustrates me because I always have to either rasterize or make copies to modify the contents of more than one bed at a time. In other programs it is too easy to do this operation.
Now you should provide some such updates (New Feature) which can leave Photoshop behind. Till now the option of automatic background removal has not come in Afinity Photo... I don't know which day Afinity is waiting for. Other features will also have to be provided... like- 1. Background Remove 2. Crop Tool Size mm,cm,inch With DPI 3. Best TransForm Option 4. Contextual Task Bar Option Like Photoshop 5. Action Record All Tool 6. Expend Option 7. Delete and Fill 8. Remove Tool Like Photoshop 9. Text- Text Tool Update(Bullet and Number) 10. Generative Fill Butt Affinity Not Update Only Update That's Name...

I wish it would be better distinguishable whether you work on the actual image or a mask. I know there's a frame around the small pictogram in the layer stack, but when I've to work on my laptop it's hardly visible. Please make it more visible by colouring it in red.
Great software but I would like to see an easier way to copy /sync adjustments etc across multipleimages, without having to save them as a preset first? 👍
Two features needed in Affinity Photo 2: 1. Auto-blend layers (similar to Adobe Photoshop) 2. Auto match new subject to background or vice-versa. It will be very helpful in compositing. (Similar to Luminar Neo where the new sky changes the colour of the foreground to match the new sky. But in Luminar Neo this feature is restricted to sky replacement only. )
At the risk of coming off rude; we are well past the need for yet another "getting started" series/video. That need is well taken care of. Advanced Channel Operations (as far as AP is capable of such), intermediate to advanced masking/selection/compositing, a deep dive into the Develop Persona etc etc. Have a look at what Deke McLelland covered in his multiple Lynda/LinkedIn training courses for a certain other application, or what he's doing here on YT. Your marketing did *not* position you as a tool for hobbyists, so let's back that up.
There are a lot of really new users.. And these types of videos encourages them when they see it.. As so many people might not want to just search for old videos. New videos like this reveals new features to new users.
Not everyone is advanced user... However I agree with you point about channels and advanced masking and selection... Most Affinity Photo tools are very similar to the 'industry standard' but its channels seem to work quite differently. (Check my other comment for this video)
2006 ahh editing parameters :( I want to love this software so bad, but in the end the editing tool repertoire is suuuuper behind to adobe's (which can milk their customers the most insane subscriptions fees while pulling your data's pants down completely) Such a gold mine - potentially

Photoshop literally has a 25 year head start on Affinity. And no doubt Serif has a much smaller dev team than Adobe. Of course it is behind. I imagine now that Canva has purchased them, we should see an acceleration in feature deployment. For the price, it's an incredible tool and it serves me well for my needs - which are professional btw. I have both Adobe and Affinity and I always reach for the Affinity suite before Adobe. I pretty much only use photoshop for mockups because of the vast availability of existing templates.
🤣it can’t compete with Photoshop. Resizing an image is not lossless like photoshop and results in blurry images. You don’t even have the basic thing of deep etching with a pen. Biggest waste of n=money I’ve ever spent on dud software.
Not sure what you mean about resizing images-are you referring to overall document resampling (which is destructive in any software), or transforming layers? If the latter, these are non-destructive regardless of layer type. I wonder if you're referring to the type of resampling? Photo defaults to bilinear, which is soft but suppresses resampling artefacts. You can change this to Bicubic or Lanczos for sharper results which would then match Photoshop.
I think the video is for those people getting started with Affinity Photo but well-versed in other editing software. It’s certainly not an introduction to photo editing in general.
I am a fairly new user, and this video was totally over my head. I'm doing very basic stuff at the moment. It seems to me Affinity has a high learning curve.
