I know this video is a year old, but it's worth noting that this device is getting better with age. The emulators themselves have improved and now systems like 3DS are more playable, I've been running the latest version of Citra and games like New Super Mario Bros and Mario Kart 3D are perfectly playable.
I think it’s all about specific settings I play sunshine just fine. However, currently having issues with some ps2 games while others again run almost perfectly.
@@RetroBreak The reason is because the emulators are periodically updated so they run better. The standalone emulators get the updates first, and the retroarch cores get them later. Sometimes much later. I remember the gamecube retroarch cores was like a year and a half behind the standalone version. For older systems (PS1 and earlier) it doesn't really matter if you use standalone or retroarch, they're all pretty much 100% compatible. But for systems newer than that there's usually a gap in performance.
Very cool device! Might even get one for myself one day. Would definitely be an upgrade to my GPD XD, which is a pretty nifty device itself actually. Amazing purchase at the time.
I wish they'd make a new GPD XD style device that isn't the retroid flip! Or maybe that miyoo flip will come out. Or something that isn't named Go Flip Max Off Pro
im using dolphin on it but i cant figure out how to remove the button layout on the screen i cant play the game because of seeing all the buttons on the screen
Honestly after this video I only used it once or twice, it’s now in a box gathering dust. I got the ROG Ally instead which is much better at everything expect battery life
Yes, but it’s still a great device. Super ergonomic and the screen is fantastic. I bought my G Cloud and an Odin Pro at the same time. I ended up returning my Odin even though it has a better CPU and dpad. The G Cloud is just a pleasure to use. To each their own.
i dont play many retro consols on android, so the standalone emulators works best for me. i also rarely switch from one emulator to the next since i tend to play one game at a time rather than switing from one emulator to another emulator constantly. i just cant ever see a reason to use a frontend ever.not even on pc where i use more emulators than i do on my android.
PPSSPP on my G cloud I can run everything at 4X except for call of war and oddly namco museum. Those at 3x Vulcan back end Where in the world are you finding MMJR because I cannot seem to find it
It is the year 2024 for the love of God people it is not hard to go through the settings and figure out how to get the touch buttons off of the emulators you use please get better at Android emulation it is not that hard
I know this is sponsored. But comparing it to chinese handhelds that are the third of the price is low. The g cloud is overpriced for that sd 720. Any t618 device has similar performance for half the price eg retroid pocket 3+ or anbernik 505
I know it’s not that powerful compared to some cheaper options. But I don’t have them to compare with, only what I’ve already experienced. Just enjoy the video for what it is :)
I have a steamdeck and retroid pocket 3+ along with a gcloud. Maybe it’s the screen size to lightness or the comfy feel but I prefer playing retro games on this thing. For higher end emulation I think I’ll just stream from my pc
Fantastic content, love having an intro to emulation capabilities. Anyone have a clear answer on max micro SD card size? I have seen 256GB mentioned as the largest anyone has been able to actually get to work, but there may have been issues fixed with a firmware update.
I’ve had a gcloud since day 1 and have loved it, yes it’s not as powerful as some handheld emulators but overall it’s super comfortable and has an amazing screen, and when I’m not playing my retro games I let my son watch TH-cam on it- battery life is amazing as well
RetroArch has come a long way in the past few years. Anything from the PlayStation, N64, Saturn and previous generations are best played with RetroArch.
I'd say that for lowered powered devices such as the G Cloud the standalone Yaba Sanshiro 2 Pro is the best choice for Saturn emulation, the YabaSanshiro Saturn core lags behind the standalone and the Beetle Saturn core (based off Mednafen) is far too demanding for Logitech's offering. It's annoying not to have everything combined though I agree.
@@voteDC I still use yabasanshiro 2 for the games that play well upscaled to 1080p. Beetle Saturn (mednafin) is a good way to play Saturn too if you don't mind the native resolution, which I don't.
PPSSP standalone is better than the RA core for PSP. When you get to Dolphin for GC and Wii you’re going to need hacks (like MMJ). Seriously, for an extra £20 just get the deck with Emudeck or RetroDeck and play everything (without needing hacks).
PSP turned out better than I thought. Tony hawk project 8 runs amazing at 4x 1080p. GTA liberty city stories looks really good as well with some bits of stutter when driving really fast outside of the driving the game is perfect. I had some issues with a couple other racing games like juiced but flatout ran really well. You will of course be mostly limited by the draw distance and pop in but that is inherently a psp issue as these games are 20 years old and not designed for 1080p. That aside they look really good on ppsspp
I love the GCloud but I still can't justify the price. Great for emulation but I'd rather just use my phone than spend another $300. Especially when you can just get a Steam Deck and, with a little tweaking, run everything up to and including Switch with relatively few problems all through EMUDeck.
Isn't there a way to just partition and have Jelos? I have several retro systems and jelos works perfect but with the price point, they are not exactly the best. My best so far is my retroid pocket 2+ but had to do many tweaks. My kid loves the cheap jelos systems mostly because they're so easy to get around. Any suggestions?
If it had double the ram, a newer version of android and WiFi 6 support it would probably be near perfect at that price for retro games and streaming. It still streams better than any other device in my house but streaming just isn’t perfect.
Can you please tell me the step by step process you used to get Twilight Princess or other gamecube gamecube games to run better and what emulator did you use
Such a great video! Had the g cloud for over a year and I love it!! emulation is just fantastic considering the steam deck is 3 times the price here in Canada and if I want the new gaming experience I just hop on the xbox cloud gaming. Best of both worlds...amazing screen and battery life and so comfortable! I cannot believe more people do not get this device. Oh, and it streams my ps5 flawlessly so I can lay in bed and play all my ps5 games!
9:26 well… I tried 😅 my plan originally was to attempt to run Splatoon, and it is possible apparently but you need to hack your real switch to get a certain code to use on the emulator and I couldn’t do it, so it’s kind of a joke ending… if you think it’s too deceptive then I might change the thumbnail
How do I get Retroaheivements working with Daijisho....cant get it to work....can you provide a quick video on how you made yours work? Thanks...and love your content!!

I love the GCloud, I play it every day!! PS2, PSP, 3Ds, GBA, and also perfect local streaming with Parsec.
its a shame the dpad sucks. hopefully g cloud 2 will be more powerful plus fixed dpad.
nice little power house for retro games
It is not good at all. As soon as you feel the crappy dpad, you will know it is not meant for retro games.
I think it’s all about specific settings I play sunshine just fine. However, currently having issues with some ps2 games while others again run almost perfectly.
3DS does run 100%. Use the standalone emulator. Pretty much every game works and you can run it at 2-3x resolution
I’ll try it! Why do the standalone emulators run better than retroarch? Don’t understand what that would be the case

How is the performance of the G Cloud vs the RP3+ @@liquidxfox007 ?
Thinking to get a G Cloud but would like to hear from you
So you don’t even consider the screen they come with when u buy any handheld.
None of those devices have a 7 inch screen. They're 4.7 inch at most. Huge difference.
I would like to see a tutorial step by step on how to get this done.
U find anything yet?

It’s super comfy! And the screen is amazing! Just wish it had that bit of extra power to really put the 1080p screen to use!
@@RetroBreakme too. I might get the upcoming Aya neo air pocket to try out for more power although it does unfortunately have a small screen
Have you seen the Aya Neo 2S? It looks similar in size and comfort to this, but much more expensive and worse battery life
They should launch one with top of the line snapdragon processor, they can then hike the price accordingly and it'll sell like crazy.
