It was literally right in front of me at a bourbon drop today, but I didn’t see it. I got so excited when I saw a 4R SMBLE that I grabbed that one and immediately went to the register.
open air allows the barrels to cure as it dries. kiln removes more water content. (for example a dried tobacco is crispy dry, a cured tobacco is dry but will not crush up into a powder when you squeeze it)
It seems to be either love or hate for Maker’s. I recently picked up the Lost Recipe bottle at Costco and I really like it. I haven’t seen cellar aged for under $500 so that’s an easy pass for me.in fact, I haven’t seen the 2024 at all.
I’ve become a big MM lover and would love to try this. 🤞🏼 The heart release from the wood finishing series has been one of my favorite bourbons this year.
I'd love to be able to try this one...I've never even seen a bottle. I will have to settle for Heart Release. Hope you and your families had a great Thanksgiving.
I have a 2023, and it needs more oak. So, they need to keep it in cold storage for some years more or age it naturally. I think the Lost Recipe is better some days than the 2023. I paid $175 and I don't think it's worth that. Secondary is a no go on this.
I'm not a fan of Maker's Mark. Now I've only had the regular and the 46, but both, while not bad, are too bright for my taste. But I've recently found that I like a lot of wheat in my whisky. Redemption wheated bourbon has 45% wheat in the mash bill, and Oregon Spirit wheat whisky has - of course - even more (but I disremember the percentage), and both are sweet, soft, and minty. Oregon Spirit bourbon is a four grain mash bill, but it too has some of that minty quality. I've not gotten that from other wheated bourbons, so I suspect that it takes a pretty high wheat percentage to get my palate's attention.
Idk how all the toutube guys get the rare stuff almost immediately. Ill never see it so i dont watch the reviews of rare stuff. And if i do see it, itll be marked up 3-5× the original price. But, glad yall got a chance! Cheers fellas. Forgive my saltiness.
In my case I check online for what new releases are coming out. I find some through my contacts and for the others I ask Goody Goody to allow me to buy one in exchange for doing an ad read.
Since it's hell at such a low temperature it doesn't interact with the barrel it's not really extra age if I wanted to do that they would leave some in the Rick house for 12 years
MM doesn't want extra barrel flavor, but they understand there is a value of age in flavor development. They found a way to get one without the other, and that is pretty cool.
I've never seen a Cellar Aged around here. Maybe one day. 🙂

Both are great. You could not make a mistake!
I'd choose the Four Roses. 🥃

Thanks for the review. I wanted to try MMCA 2024.
Still looking for Cellar Aged to add to my MM collection
Nice review! I’m not the biggest Maker’s Mark fan but at SRP I would definitely grab one! Cheers!
Sounds great!
Great review Randy and Wes. I would have never guessed you would have rated this Makers Mark so high! Now I’m intrigued!
I’m going to look for this one 😊

My heart release bottle was interesting. I quite enjoyed the flavor development 😋

Happy Thanksgiving!
Good stuff right there.
Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving!
Another wonderful video! Happy Holidays!
I wish I could find it at close to MSRP. The only time I saw 2023 it was at over 2x MSRP.

Great video as always!
Glad you enjoyed!
Would love to taste these

@BourbonRealTalk all about connections. Like the mob. 🤣
I grabbed my 24 cellar aged weeks ago for retail as did many others so it’s not overly rare. Birthday bourbon now that’s rare.

Funny. bourbon junkies says this year's MM cellar aged is really awful
They probably drank too much of that midland mi dow chemical infused water before tasting it.
