I've had mine for about a year now and it's been a ton of fun. The only complaints I have about it are: 1) The roof is quite thin and as a result the car is very loud with the roof up 2) The interior quality is genuinely not good. This was made during an era where BMW was obsessed with making its cars "bio-degradable"; which means the interior is made entirely of cheap, brittle plastics that have begun to crumble with age. 3) Despite how cheap these cars have gotten, don't forget you're still maintaining a BMW Roadster that was the equivalent of 50-60K USD in today's money when-new. As a result, parts are expensive and can be difficult to source. 3) The attention it gets can be a bit much at times. If you like starting conversations at gas stations this is a plus rather than a negative, but it can get a little old after awhile, especially if you're daily driving the car. Overall, I still love it to pieces, and I have no plans to get rid of it. However, if I had the ability to keep it as a pure weekend-toy and drive something more sensible everyday, I would. But, you can make it work as an everyday car as long as you don't have too many people or things to lug around with you, and you can afford to stomach some extra maintenance costs.
I've got one in a basic version : 1998, 1.8 engine full leather seats. The engine in not so powerfull but enough to have a fun during week end. Gasoline consumption is accepatble arund 12 km/lt. Is a good car toy, and absolutely value for money car as today is still possible to buy in a good condition one, in Italy, around 10.000 €. Buy & Enjoi!!!

Thank you for a great insight, I would not choose this for a daily driver mostly for the practicality but it would be an excellent weekend car :)

Yes the engine was low on power but as you said you can still have fun with the car, great for weekend drives 👌🏼
