It is very important to specify what style of music you play to know exactly what amplifier you should purchase.

2 different animals, but both are great sounding amps!

Greenback have better pushed breakup characteristics. Especially paired with a cranked low wat amp, but the Blue Alnico are crucial for that classic glass like Vox "chime". I prefer Greenbacks myself. I once had a tiny apartment dual amp rig for a short time using a Radial Hipshot ABY, a Vox AC4 1x12, and a Orange Micro Dark on top a Greenback loaded 1x12 cab. It honestly sounded freakin' incredible for what it was, and was surprisingly LOUD! Ha!
I ran all my delay, mods, and reverb to the front of the tiny Vox, and I used the Orange micro for crunch and boosted higher gain with an additional delay and verb in the fx loop. Playing both in "Y' (wet/dry) unison together was completely jaw dropping. An absolutely incredible tiny rig of awesome tones, and within a meager "fish & chips" budget. Very fun. I HIGHLY recommend.
    Come to think of it?
I seriously regret parting it out and not having it now : /
    Sad : (

Great comparison but the Tube 15 is a lot noisier. They both sound decent but for my money I would save the extra and grab the AC 15 with greenbacks. No doubt the tube 15 is good value but it is no AC15 🙂👍

Vox ac 15 is my favorite amp. I find that it's important to dial the master to max, It balances the harsh high end with sufficiant low end and then taylor the high cut acording to the guitar, I like to run It on the normal channel and It works great with paddles. If I just use the amp without pedals Id use the top boost channel with the added eq. I tried the blues but preffered the green(sounds much better on cleans and edge of breakup tones. Takes a few monthes to brak in. add the spring reverb and trem and its a great amp.

  • @PeteBasel

The Tube 15 has a cold clipper that the Vox (and Fender) do NOT have so it should break up sooner with a more gritty sound, as it does. Also, the Vox has a much bigger box and it would be interesting to have made the comparison with the same speaker. It would be interesting to see if you can get a Vox tone from the Fender Blues Jr since both do not have a cold clipper, the same speaker might help.

@@BuddaGuedes The Tube 15 is such an interesting amp! I'm looking at the schematic and the tone stack and power amp are very Fender Bassman (and Marshall Copy) like with a cathode follower feeding the tone stack and all the rest, output tubes smaller and British type. But the Tone control is on the power tube grids as is done in Vox amps - very interesting. So, use the tone stack to control what frequencies break up first when driving it hard since it is further back, then use the tone control to shape the final distorted sound. When driven clean it doesn't matter where you tone shape, but when driven into non-linearity is DOES. The law of superposition in EE. Yes I'm an EE.

  • @221b-l3t

My amp sounds like garbage with the stock speaker but it sounds insanely good with a Creamback. I decided against selling it and hate turned to love. And that's a Marshall with a slightly more expensive arguably worse sounding speaker that cost 3 times what the Tube15 cost... just put the back to back and plug the T15 into the Greenback. Make sure you disconnect the AC15 and don't turn it on while no speaker is connected. Just directly at the speaker, cable is just long enough... and leave the back open for the AC15 test so it's actually comparable. Most people couldn't tell its the same amp with different speakers. DSL through a Greenback is more Plexi than a Plexi through a G12T100

These two speakers are so different that it's covering up any difference between the amps. Only way to really tell is to wire the speaker out on the Tube 15 to the AC15 cabinet with the Greenback. Only then will you have your answer.

(I would need 2 or 3 of the EVH 20w speakers)I have to say though I’m loving the sound I’m getting now, I will forever be a tube guy 😀. I've got the 2014 American Vintage. It's definitely got a 7.25 radius. The wiring is not the 50s wiring, but that's supposedly because most people changed theirs to modern wiring after buying the pre-2013 models. Those rounded edge frets are my only complaint. My low e falls off the fret board with the slightest vibrato.

In the room together you can hear why the extra money was spent on the Vox but I'm sure on it's own the Harley Benton would work but the Vox has the pedigree along wih it's great sound. For me the better sound and fact that so many fanous recordings came from it would make it my choice. Sort of like using the same style brushes or paints as other famous painters have used. If the tools mix the colors and set the tone for excellence follow the path of the greats for a little extra money.
