    Thank you for the detail of your videos. I'm taking a pottery class from an instructor who is all over the place in her instruction. It initially made it difficult for me to enjoy the class. I've learned to make use of the open studio time we're given and videos like yours. Now I'm really enjoying myself. Little details like talking about the health dangers of sanding and how to minimize any potentially harmful affects to one's lungs as well as how helpful/unhelpful adding water to the outside of a pot will be and how to ensure a fully bone dry pot before firing are details I crave. Thank you!!!!!!! Your tattoo is beautifully drawn, btw. What a work of art! Your mugs look thick and sturdy and perfect for chunky marshmallows and hot cocoa this time of year. I hope to one day make some great pieces like them. Thank you for the videos. I'm looking forward to learning all you've got to share.

    thank you so much for the video!
    i'm still confused about coloring the pieces. in which stage do we add engobe, before single firing or after? i would appreciate a video on coloring as well.

      Both can work. When I decorate with slip I like to do it in the leather hard stage.

    Wondering if you could discuss single fire glazing? I always thought the only option was to fire twice, but I’ve seen some ceramicists fire once?

      I would love to cover that but unfortunately I don't have any experience so I don't want to give bad information. Better ask another potter :)

    How to make slip? Thank you for amazing tutorials ❤

    • @asdqwe4468
      @asdqwe4468 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Let some clay dry completely, crush it a bit and add lots of water. If the slip is too thin you can always let it settle and remove some water from the top.

    Typically how long from leather to bone dry? 1-2 days?

    Question: For bisque if they clay says cone 5 (or whatever it says) if you use cone 5 in the cone sitter does it automatically fire the clay to bisque? And then again cone 5 (or whatever the glaze calls for) for the glaze? Temps and timing are tripping me up because my kilns doesnt have instructions so it just seems easier to use the cone sitter.
    TY for this vid. I’ve been working my way through ALL of them!!

    • @asdqwe4468
      @asdqwe4468 ปีที่แล้ว

      Clays are usually labeled with their highest firing temperature. A cone 5 clay can and should be fired to cone 5. Bisque firing is pretty much the same for every clay. Depending on the clay and if you like softer or harder bisque ware I'd say between 850 and 1000 °C. I usually go for around 950 °C. You would need to set your kiln sitter to 900 °C for example (no idea what cone that is).

    What about engobes? In which stage should you apply the engobes? Is the biskfire mandatory?

    Does the handle also have to be leather hard when you attach it or can it be wetter? Thanks.

    • @asdqwe4468
      @asdqwe4468 ปีที่แล้ว

      Handles are usually just normal wet clay when you attach them.
