I think the fact that people get scared by simply being alone in large, quiet, open spaces is really interesting- because it just shows the primal instinct to surround ourselves with others and the fear we get when dumped into a new, unsettling environment alone. Also whenever Daz pointed out how the architecture made the Backrooms have an uneasy feeling to them- like it was unnatural and the whole thing was a maze almost. The thing that gets me though- is being hunted down but simply being unaware of it at first, then once you notice what’s stalking you it seems to make a point of staying just out of sight, but close enough that you know it’s still there and watching you. The creepy feeling of knowing that it could strike at any given moment but being helpless as to defend yourself. Truly skin crawling.
I also think being alone brings a feeling of unsafety. We as humans need each other, not just for social comfort and support, but for physical survival.

There's actually a name for such spaces. They are called "Liminal Spaces". Look it up they are fun but lowkey terrifying. It may not be 100% like the backrooms cause ive only seen the word be thrown around a few times sooo, it may not be the correct use of the word.

VHS always feels more real, even if it obviously isn't, If this was in crisp HD, I feel like it wouldn't be anywhere near as scary, and it would show imperfections in the effects.
there are many reasons why vhs horror tapes look more real (like the vintage feel of an outdated medium) but for realism alone i think vhs has much less visuals needed, the grain, the camera ratio etc, and the less is shown, the less you need to see for it to feel real (horrible explanation but i hope u get it) for example, cgi in the darkness. if you’ve seen the first jurassic movie, you can tell that dinosaurs hidden in darkness feel much more real than in bright daylight. i could talk so much about analog horror, liminal spaces or how this guy made it so scary, that’s all from me, a smol person that watches way too much youtube
The fact that a 16 year old made this is just brilliant he’s got a born talent to do things like this and he’s definitely got a bright future ahead of him in the future he will be getting oscars etc just for things like this.. as Daz said the concept to all this is simple yet jumpy even though it’s straight to the point it still has you on the edge making the person watching this feel like your in a ultimate universe

Honestly, I thought that was better than any mainstream horror you'd generally find in theatres these days. Unlike most horrors these days, I found this film didn't use sickening concepts and acts as horror. The problem I have with modern day horror films is the production teams seem to think being vile equates to being horrific when they're two different things. This film reminded me of classic horrors that I grew up watching and enjoyed because it created tension and executed the fear factors well without implementing concepts like sexual abuse against minors which is just vile rather than good content for horror.
@@snovaspectre2 When I say vile concepts, I don't mean the typical blood and gore we always see, I'm referring to disturbing things like pedophilia. That's not even good horror content, it's just sickening. I don't think horror films focus on being scary these days, more so just being nasty.

I think the best part about this, is that for the longest time nothing happens, and after seeing the thing at the start, you are well aware something is following them and/or watching them so your just waiting for it to make its move. wether that is jumping out at the camera appearing behind the camera or a wall. So when nothing happens anytime the camera turns around or turns a corner the sense or feeling of anxiety increases to the point you think something will happen every time they turn to face a different direction. This worsens every time you see it around a corner but dose nothing except goes into back to hiding, bc you don’t know what it wants or what it’s planning/plans to do.

i’ve always had a huge fear of being alone in a room where it’s completely quiet, but this took it to another level. quite frankly, the thought of being in a space like shown in the film is so unsettling. especially when you know something is watching and following you. though i’ve never been in a real life situation where i KNOW im being watched, i always feel as if i am. many other people i know have said the exact same thing, whether they be in their bedrooms or in the kitchen late at night for a snack. part of this may be just an instinct to keep ourselves safe? our maybe humans as a species are always just super skittish and afraid of the possible and impossible. who knows.
humans are innately fearful of the unknown. this includes eveything we dont know about things we imagine or have ideas about, the things we think about that leave gaps of stuff we havnt figured out yet makes humans uneasy.
Yeah, I’m not afraid to be alone but I’ve always been nervous and very aware of my surroundings when I’m alone but horror set my awareness of being watched all the way up and being very aware of my surroundings prevented me being kidnapped by someone following me. I always have the feeling of being watched in bookstores but that time, it felt very different, I always shake off the feeling when I’m not being watched but it feels like I am but I just couldn’t shake that feeling away that time. Eventually when I turned around to go look at the horror section, I noticed someone in a grey hoodie everywhere I went in that store. You may think “Well they may just have the same taste as you,” but I noticed them a few times like when I went into the dvd store and I was looking at the older serial killer type horrors (my fav genre) and I noticed them looking at me and when I looked at a different section, they picked up what I was originally holding. My sister had left to go get some snacks and I went into the bookstore to find the book I wanted and i picked up the one I was originally looking for and then moved to the horror section to see if I liked anything, when I turned around to go to the counter to buy what I picked, they were looking directly at me, hell we were both staring at eachother so I made a dash for it to the counter space, payed what I came for and stood nearby until my sister came and when she did, they just vanished. I dunno what happened and why they were so interested in following me around but I’m glad they left me alone…

I personally feel like VHS taps are more “scarier” then modern videos, because there is like a way more of a higher chance that modern tapes are edited or “staged”.
All the rooms explored are images used in the tag of "Liminal space" horror. He just converted it into an explorable environment! Like the classic "backrooms yellow stale colors", the long room with the two doors and staircase, looking out a window to an indoor outdoor apartment area, long hallway with multiple dark rooms💫 It's awesome how many liminal space aesthetics are put into this game, even with the calming scenery at the beginning. I (along with plenty of others) use this aesthetic to cope with different sets of trauma we've experienced. Commonly we only remember these moments as an isolated area stuck in time, so the photos can be both nostalgic and haunting. As well as the multiple "entity's" scattered throughout the game which is often a placeholder for the people we thought to remember there.
What makes these back rooms so terrifying is that it feels like you've been there before. Like those dreams where you know you've been there before. The only reason why this happens is mainly because of your memories. Most of these dreams involve playgrounds and play areas because that is your childhood. And when your sub-conscious goes to make your dreams, it uses your memories that you might not remember but your sub-conscious does. And when it is shown to you you get that feeling of i've been here before. And that feeling makes you confused and worried. What also makes this scary is that because of the camera quality. Like the fact that it is a maze of death is scary enough. And that blank/white noise of ambience makes you feel focused because your trying to focus on sound and you get a mini jump scare whenever that sound plays.
Literally how have the guys that made this not had a break through in professional horror movies, using unease to make the audience anxious instead of just jump scares and gory imagery is something that isn’t easy to do. Bravo 👏
Indeed, I get that they wouldn’t really be old enough to take on some jobs but it truly is an incredible thing to make someone on the edge of their seat simply without the gore or jump scares. The feeling of being followed, knowing that they’re there but you can’t see them makes many uneasy, the feeling of it makes me more aware of my surroundings though so I guess it’s a bonus cuz now I’ve watched movies that are all suspense rather than gore and jumpscaring, I’m constantly looking around me and over my shoulder and prevented me being kidnapped so I’d be very happy if the guys made more!
If only we could have a full length backrooms found footage movie, and the person keeps wandering through other dimensions and impossible rooms. Aaaah would be so cool

The whole entire place was giving a liminal space concept it seems. And the fear of not being alone in such a place like that is terrifying! This video was phenomenal. The guy knew what kind of horror he was making.
I do A-level media and for him to be 16 and make something at that level is insane. He has a huge talent and I hope he puts it to good use making more things like this.
Technically, this is a masterpiece. The jerky movement of the camera, the colour pallet and the unnerving architecture really make for a gripping atmosphere, and the constant sound of breathing is so chilling as well as the lack of soundtrack and use of natural noise with the footsteps really makes this. The creature as well is a brilliant design, only showing us glimpses is a masterful way of keeping that intrigue and it all wraps up to make a solid horror short. Masterwork

This video is so altered and unsettling, almost familiarly uncomfortable. It's so well made. From the unnerving, ugly yellow tinge of the first location, to the hospital like feeling of the other location, and the unsureness of the VHS like film to the flashing in and out of where he is. It's just incredible. You know it's not real, but it feels so familiar in the worst way that it almost seems like a memory or like it could be real.
There's a whole wiki for it, it's kinda connected to Subliminal Spaces or something, I forgot what it's called. Anyways, the backrooms got their design because it was supposed to look like a slightly boring and uninteresting place, like the yellow tainted walls, the thin, flat carpet, the hum of the fluorescent lights. But the more you explore, the more and more terrifying the place gets as you realize that not only are the backrooms an infinite space, there's also something else with you, and it's close by.
i love watching daz like honestly he makes me very happy. every time i feel down or sad i put on his videos and i laugh and have a great time. just watching him gets me through the day. i honestly love you and your work🤍
The VHS style makes it seem more real. The Backrooms are so mysterious and this might be the best video on the Backrooms. Daz'a reaction makes it so much better
I cannot for the life of me begin to fathom how whoever made this can replicate a dream so well. The scene with the long hallway and then the camera tilts down to show what seems to be endless replications of that very same hallway, millions of times. That scared me. That actually freaked me out, feels like I actually had a dream with the same premise
the liminal spaces, dreamcore, weirdcore, backrooms phenomenon are things I wish I never found out is super eerie and it will make you feel anxious too for some reason

I think what makes me uncomfy about the backrooms is how plain everything is, normally you'd see a few sofas and pictures in a place like that but no, theres nothing there to bring you comfort :D

The monsters in the back rooms don’t make me scared, the thought of it seeming as if I was alone but knowing something is watching me, and hunting me down scares me.
The back rooms are so terrifying the yellow hue is an unnatural feeling the twisting corridors the buzzing lights they're repeating patterns over time all becoming something new that even more natural some rooms of doorways spanning for Miles some are always spanning for a couple steps it's all inconsistent and terrifying
i hate the concept of being trapped in a place that never ends, like when you are in the yellow area and then the white area and then the yellow area idk just being trapped in a circle of never ending repetitive places is horrible and the uneasiness made me feel like i was dreaming or something
The constant noise of the fluorescent office lights naturally made me tense up without realising it and once the video ended I realised how on edge that made me naturally. Such a cool detail that rlly tied the video together.

Yeah, it’s creepy where you can’t say anything but something is chasing you turn ouch somewhere that you have never ever seen before, the same dream happened to me over and over and over until I slowly got through the levels like a game, scaring me any chance it could. The thing that chased me for hours on end looked like Siren-head on a smaller scale and was super creepy, no matter where I hid, it would find me, just like in the end of the video…
Sleep paralysis is not a dream. It's when you wake up but for a short period of time your body cannot move and you may or may not hallucinate. I had it when I was diagnosed with severe insomnia. It can happen before falling asleep or after you wake up.

The ending is anxiety inducing for sure, the feeling of being in a weird-ominous maze like place to being pushed down a vent-like tunnel by a unknown creature of nightmares to then open your eyes and see that you're falling from the sky to your death.
The idea is to use a feeling as if you’ve been there familiarity of some sort and loads of corners to give the strange feeling that someone could be watching at any moment

I think the fact that people get scared by simply being alone in large, quiet, open spaces is really interesting- because it just shows the primal instinct to surround ourselves with others and the fear we get when dumped into a new, unsettling environment alone. Also whenever Daz pointed out how the architecture made the Backrooms have an uneasy feeling to them- like it was unnatural and the whole thing was a maze almost. The thing that gets me though- is being hunted down but simply being unaware of it at first, then once you notice what’s stalking you it seems to make a point of staying just out of sight, but close enough that you know it’s still there and watching you. The creepy feeling of knowing that it could strike at any given moment but being helpless as to defend yourself. Truly skin crawling.
I also think being alone brings a feeling of unsafety. We as humans need each other, not just for social comfort and support, but for physical survival.

There's actually a name for such spaces. They are called "Liminal Spaces". Look it up they are fun but lowkey terrifying. It may not be 100% like the backrooms cause ive only seen the word be thrown around a few times sooo, it may not be the correct use of the word.

VHS always feels more real, even if it obviously isn't, If this was in crisp HD, I feel like it wouldn't be anywhere near as scary, and it would show imperfections in the effects.
It might also be because it feels old and our knowledge tells us old=real because it was way harder to fake it
there are many reasons why vhs horror tapes look more real (like the vintage feel of an outdated medium) but for realism alone i think vhs has much less visuals needed, the grain, the camera ratio etc, and the less is shown, the less you need to see for it to feel real (horrible explanation but i hope u get it) for example, cgi in the darkness. if you’ve seen the first jurassic movie, you can tell that dinosaurs hidden in darkness feel much more real than in bright daylight. i could talk so much about analog horror, liminal spaces or how this guy made it so scary,

Honestly, I thought that was better than any mainstream horror you'd generally find in theatres these days. Unlike most horrors these days, I found this film didn't use sickening concepts and acts as horror. The problem I have with modern day horror films is the production teams seem to think being vile equates to being horrific when they're two different things. This film reminded me of classic horrors that I grew up watching and enjoyed because it created tension and executed the fear factors well without implementing concepts like sexual abuse against minors which is just vile rather than good content for horror.

I think the best part about this, is that for the longest time nothing happens, and after seeing the thing at the start, you are well aware something is following them and/or watching them so your just waiting for it to make its move. wether that is jumping out at the camera appearing behind the camera or a wall. So when nothing happens anytime the camera turns around or turns a corner the sense or feeling of anxiety increases to the point you think something will happen every time they turn to face a different direction. This worsens every time you see it around a corner but dose nothing except goes into back to hiding, bc you don’t know what it wants or what it’s planning/plans to do.
Being surrounded by Yellow in large quantities make you anxious and aggressive and sometimes irritated.

i’ve always had a huge fear of being alone in a room where it’s completely quiet, but this took it to another level. quite frankly, the thought of being in a space like shown in the film is so unsettling. especially when you know something is watching and following you. though i’ve never been in a real life situation where i KNOW im being watched, i always feel as if i am. many other people i know have said the exact same thing, whether they be in their bedrooms or in the kitchen late at night for a snack. part of this may be just an instinct to keep ourselves safe? our maybe humans as a species are always just super skittish and afraid of the possible and impossible. who knows.

humans are innately fearful of the unknown. this includes eveything we dont know about things we imagine or have ideas about, the things we think about that leave gaps of stuff we havnt figured out yet makes humans uneasy.
Yeah, I’m not afraid to be alone but I’ve always been nervous and very aware of my surroundings when I’m alone but horror set my awareness of being watched all the way up and being very aware of my surroundings prevented me being kidnapped by someone following me. I always have the feeling of being watched in bookstores but that time, it felt very different, I always shake off the feeling when I’m not being watched but it feels like I am but I just couldn’t shake that feeling away that time. Eventually when I turned around to go look at the horror section, I noticed someone in a grey hoodie everywhere I went in that store. You may think “Well they may just have the same taste as you,” but I noticed them a few times like when I went into the dvd store and I was looking at the older serial killer type horrors (my fav genre) and I noticed them looking at me and when I looked at a different section, they picked up what I was originally holding. My sister had left to go get some snacks and I went into the bookstore to find the book I wanted and i picked up the one I was originally looking for and then moved to the horror section to see if I liked anything, when I turned around to go to the counter to buy what I picked, they were looking directly at me, hell we were both staring at eachother so I made a dash for it to the counter space, payed what I came for and stood nearby until my sister came and when she did, they just vanished. I dunno what happened and why they were so interested in following me around but I’m glad they left me alone…

I personally feel like VHS taps are more “scarier” then modern videos, because there is like a way more of a higher chance that modern tapes are edited or “staged”.
All the rooms explored are images used in the tag of "Liminal space" horror. He just converted it into an explorable environment! Like the classic "backrooms yellow stale colors", the long room with the two doors and staircase, looking out a window to an indoor outdoor apartment area, long hallway with multiple dark rooms💫
It's awesome how many liminal space aesthetics are put into this game, even with the calming scenery at the beginning. I (along with plenty of others) use this aesthetic to cope with different sets of trauma we've experienced. Commonly we only remember these moments as an isolated area stuck in time, so the photos can be both nostalgic and haunting. As well as the multiple "entity's" scattered throughout the game which is often a placeholder for the people we thought to remember there.

What makes these back rooms so terrifying is that it feels like you've been there before. Like those dreams where you know you've been there before. The only reason why this happens is mainly because of your memories. Most of these dreams involve playgrounds and play areas because that is your childhood. And when your sub-conscious goes to make your dreams, it uses your memories that you might not remember but your sub-conscious does. And when it is shown to you you get that feeling of i've been here before. And that feeling makes you confused and worried. What also makes this scary is that because of the camera quality. Like the fact that it is a maze of death is scary enough. And that blank/white noise of ambience makes you feel focused because your trying to focus on sound and you get a mini jump scare whenever that sound plays.
Literally how have the guys that made this not had a break through in professional horror movies, using unease to make the audience anxious instead of just jump scares and gory imagery is something that isn’t easy to do. Bravo 👏

Indeed, I get that they wouldn’t really be old enough to take on some jobs but it truly is an incredible thing to make someone on the edge of their seat simply without the gore or jump scares. The feeling of being followed, knowing that they’re there but you can’t see them makes many uneasy, the feeling of it makes me more aware of my surroundings though so I guess it’s a bonus cuz now I’ve watched movies that are all suspense rather than gore and jumpscaring, I’m constantly looking around me and over my shoulder and prevented me being kidnapped so I’d be very happy if the guys made more!

The whole entire place was giving a liminal space concept it seems. And the fear of not being alone in such a place like that is terrifying! This video was phenomenal. The guy knew what kind of horror he was making.
I do A-level media and for him to be 16 and make something at that level is insane. He has a huge talent and I hope he puts it to good use making more things like this.

Technically, this is a masterpiece. The jerky movement of the camera, the colour pallet and the unnerving architecture really make for a gripping atmosphere, and the constant sound of breathing is so chilling as well as the lack of soundtrack and use of natural noise with the footsteps really makes this. The creature as well is a brilliant design, only showing us glimpses is a masterful way of keeping that intrigue and it all wraps up to make a solid horror short. Masterwork

This video is so altered and unsettling, almost familiarly uncomfortable. It's so well made. From the unnerving, ugly yellow tinge of the first location, to the hospital like feeling of the other location, and the unsureness of the VHS like film to the flashing in and out of where he is. It's just incredible. You know it's not real, but it feels so familiar in the worst way that it almost seems like a memory or like it could be real.
This is a very scary film and I wouldn’t be able watch it without Daz. My head would be under a blanket 😂 thanks daz

There's a whole wiki for it, it's kinda connected to Subliminal Spaces or something, I forgot what it's called. Anyways, the backrooms got their design because it was supposed to look like a slightly boring and uninteresting place, like the yellow tainted walls, the thin, flat carpet, the hum of the fluorescent lights. But the more you explore, the more and more terrifying the place gets as you realize that not only are the backrooms an infinite space, there's also something else with you, and it's close by.
i love watching daz like honestly he makes me very happy. every time i feel down or sad i put on his videos and i laugh and have a great time. just watching him gets me through the day. i honestly love you and your work🤍

I cannot for the life of me begin to fathom how whoever made this can replicate a dream so well. The scene with the long hallway and then the camera tilts down to show what seems to be endless replications of that very same hallway, millions of times. That scared me. That actually freaked me out, feels like I actually had a dream with the same premise

The back rooms are so terrifying the yellow hue is an unnatural feeling the twisting corridors the buzzing lights they're repeating patterns over time all becoming something new that even more natural some rooms of doorways spanning for Miles some are always spanning for a couple steps it's all inconsistent and terrifying
i hate the concept of being trapped in a place that never ends, like when you are in the yellow area and then the white area and then the yellow area idk just being trapped in a circle of never ending repetitive places is horrible and the uneasiness made me feel like i was dreaming or something

Yeah, I mean I’m a lover of older serial killer themed movies like Halloween (1978) but I agree with you, I have seen plenty of higher budget movies but this is what creeps me out more over them. Yeah, it’s creepy where you can’t say anything but something is chasing you turn ouch somewhere that you have never ever seen before, the same dream happened to me over and over and over until I slowly got through the levels like a game, scaring me any chance it could. The thing that chased me for hours on end looked like Siren-head on a smaller scale and was super creepy, no matter where I hid, it would find me, just like in the end of the video…

I love The Backrooms. I only just saw it today. And the guy who directed the short film is only 16!! Mad. I’m gonna keep rewatching it I love it so much! Suspense is so well done
The ending is anxiety inducing for sure, the feeling of being in a weird-ominous maze like place to being pushed down a vent-like tunnel by a unknown creature of nightmares to then open your eyes and see that you're falling from the sky to your death.
I am pretty sure actually it's only the camera that escaped, if you rewatch I think the person was grabbed by the monster
The idea is to use a feeling as if you’ve been there familiarity of some sort and loads of corners to give the strange feeling that someone could be watching at any moment
This was priceless. Daz watching one of the most unnerving but fascinating creepy pastas out there. Daz you should continue this and watch all the other Backrooms videos made by Kane Pixels. They are just as good as the one you watched in this video!!
Watching daz is like seeing an old friend again, no matter how long your away you just pick right back up where you left off
i had a dream that i was in the backrooms and let me just tell you how silent it was and how there were no doors and everything looked exactly like it’s pictured in the video

Daz if you pay close attention, and I know most people miss this, but at the end when Kane gets attacked, he gets grabbed and you can hear him screaming. Its the cam that falls, sadly not him.
