    i learned about managing my inventory by doing co-op of all things. Running out of flasks by the time the host gets to a boss, because i had to run and save em from an invader and 13 mobs kinda got me to carry the hp/fp recovery talismans. Then swapping to them quickly instead of using a flask, required me to have them organized. Same with weapons and shields, swapping to a fire infused over a heavy/holy for an erdtree avatar or giant ants, or a mace for miners or claymen. once i got into invasions, my knowledge of the level design and being in the mindset of swapping items to fit the situation kinda made up for my lack of technical skill, and allowed me to not feel discouraged by getting dunked on. This way when i did lose i had no one or anything to blame besides McDonalds wifi and myself.

    I enjoyed this video as a PvP only type of player. I’ve swapped for ages and these are the videos that help this community the most. Expanding your mindset. I almost always run 2 of the same weapon all over my inventory as a surprise new AoW. I’m glad you’re taking on the daunting task of suggesting something new to either new pvpers or even the PvErs. I’ve always had the same general idea behind getting to know somebody through these kinda games, it’s looking how they organize their inventory. It’s always different and it shows how they think about their situations. Anywho I’m blabbering, keep up the good work mate.

    Gamers nowdays have something wrong with their heads. You can always open a menu and change weapon on the go. You can open menu and slowly navigate through it to change up your equipment even mid boss fight. How is this "unintended mechanic"? When you are fighting crafting menu is locked while inventory is open. smh

    • @youtubeenjoyer1743
      @youtubeenjoyer1743 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      It kind of is unintended because you still have soft swap slots that increase your weight. I’d say removing the weight increase on those is a big QOL improvement

    • @GuiriTV
      @GuiriTV 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      @@youtubeenjoyer1743 Agreed. Also, it doesnt take any skill to exploit dupe or have people drop weapons for you. The hardest part of hardswap like this is getting the items necessary for your inventory. And not everyone is willing to cheat, using an exploit to dupe, and not everyone has a ton of friends playing ER that are willing to drop them weapons. The only "fair" way to get the weapons is going through multiple NG+ for the extra weapons and ashes of wars you need. The amount of arrogance around this "tech" is ridiculous. Tryhard PvPers will cling onto any glitchy, clunky "tech" to have an advantage over others, even if it's an unintended side effect of the engine or a bug.

    • @youtubeenjoyer1743
      @youtubeenjoyer1743 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      @@GuiriTV True, i don't have any friends that play video games, but i also don't want to contact redditors for item duping, so my only option is playing through the game a few times to exhaust every branching item path twice. It was great in short games like Dark Souls 3, but Elden Ring is way too big to replay 2-4 times grabbing every single item on the way. Just adding infinite respect and some sort of weapon duplication mechanic at the end of the game (maybe NG+ even) would be HUGE for experimentation and PvP. It's also very easy to implement.

    Thanks for the information..Very well made for beginners like us....
    I have 2 questions..
    1) Say I am running a sword and board with a noble slender sword(Sword dance or storm blade ash) and a medium shield.. What would be the weaknesses of this build what should I do to cover them..
    2) Between Beast roar and Stormblade which is a better counter against mages??Which is faster or more useful to counter fast casting mages?

    • @SgtJager00
      @SgtJager00  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Thank you man! I appreciate that a ton!
      1) unfortunately sword and board is not a very good setup in Elden Ring with quite a few weaknesses. You can choose to not do these swaps if you didn't like them, but If it were me, these are the swaps I would have:
      - sword and board generally has a damage problem, there are two practical ways to solve this. Near your shield in your inventory I would consider a second sword so you can pull out power stance straight sword if you think one sword can't cut it. Or you could run a self buffing ash of War like lightning slash or cragblade on your sword to make it hit harder.
      -you will definitely want a get off me tool like storm caller or stromhawk axe for example
      - a single sword has a forward momentum problem, so you could have a halberd (rr1) or heavy Thrusting sword (rr2) nearby to really throw off your opponent.
      -I would run two of the same shield and have them right next to eachother in your inventory, one with a parry (carian retaliation is the best since it counters magic) and one with no skill so you can use ashes of war.
      2) both beast roar and storm blade are very good options, and you could certainly run both on the build.
      -beast roar is less telegraphed and the projectile is comparatively bigger than storm blade. This one is almost always better than storm blade when you are farther away from your opponent.
      -storm blade does more damage, comes out faster (I think, I could be wrong), can be spammed due to being a combo ash of War, and has a hitbox on the sword as well. Due to these differences, storm blade is quite a bit better at close range, say within about 20 feet of your opponent.
      Both sword dance and storm blade would work well on the noble sword, so I would expirement and see what you like the most! I hope this helped.

However, I noticed that sentiment isn't shared by most of the community. • @SgtJager00
      @SgtJager00  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      You have to pick your poison:
      1) Have someone drop you a dupe stash
      2) If you want to farm them like I have for my level 80 build (I'm at around 150 golem arrows), I recommend this process:
      -turn off autosave for Elden Ring and get into the habit of uploading and downloading save data, uploading will make a new save, download will revert your characters to your last upload.
      -farm the golem that has a bow at the beginning of Altus plateau lift, there is a site of grace nearby to the west.
      -get just enough golem arrows for one play session, so I'd say around 100 arrows (while uncommon they drop in fives)
      -make an upload with your farmed arrows.
      -play and use the arrows, and once you're done, download your save back to that upload.
      -if you plan on farming more, something else, or progressing the game on any character (essentially any progress made you don't want to lose) don't use any arrows, upload once you are done with your farming or progress, and only use your arrows or other valuables until you both have an up to date upload, and plan on playing for a bit without making any progress.
      I know this is very long-winded, but this is the only way to use legitimately farmed valuables and not have to constantly farm. I hope this helps!

      Never okay. It's an unintended side effect of being able to hardswap quickly with barely any input delay. It should be patched out by adding a delay to accessing your weapon menu. So you'll still be able to hardswap, but it'll remove unintended "property swap" bugs riddled in Fromsoft games, as well as give people the ability to punish and react to hardswappers.

  • @GuiriTV

    Great video guide, but I hope they patch unintended things like this out. Obviously this isnt an intended feature, and it's quite frustrating to go up against. And as this guide shows, it doesnt take a lot of effort other than managing your inventory in a meaningful way and a few quick inputs.
    However, even if anyone can really do it, and it takes no real effort to do so, the difficulty is acquiring the weapons necessary. Most people rely on weapon dupe glitch, which I constitute as cheating. Until Fromsoft adds a way to buy multiple weapons with runs and ashes of war, weapon dupers in my mind are cheaters.
    As for the other group, which get free weapons dropped, either you need friends to drop you weapons who play ER, or be a streamer with viewers who do so. Not everyone has access to this, so it's unreasonable to expect it.
    The final and only legit viable option is playing through multiple iterations of NG+, which everyone has access to. The only difficulty is time. How much time the player is willing to put in all for extra weapons to get an edge in PvP. Not everyone is willing to go so far for such a thing.
    This technique, as many tryhard pvpers tend to use and justify, isnt an issue of skill, but accessibility. The only skill involved is quick button inputs to swap, and the rest is just tedious preparation not everyone is willing to do based on their available options to get weapon dupes. Sure, you can do it with other weapons, but you need extra weps for proper inventory layout and management, so minimal duplicates are required at times.
    EDIT: I have to clarify by what I mean by "unintended feature" and what needs to be patched out. Players shouldn't be able to quickly put inputs to hardswap so fast that it's unreactable, or not telegraphed effectively to counter. This also leads to unintended side effects because of quick hardswaps that have been in Fromsoft games since DaS1 (WA swapping on weapons, buffing weapons that shouldnt be buffed, chainsaw in ER, etc...)

      It's pretty damn obvious that it is an intended feature. Hardswapping has been a thing since ds1 (Probably even DeS but I don't know cause I haven't played it) and it would be extremely easy to remove. So Fromsoft having never done anything about it should be prove enough that it's intentional.

      @@GuiriTV boohoo have fun wasting hours of your life farming string

    • @GuiriTV
      @GuiriTV 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@Eo-ms3kw That depends on the definition of "intended feature". Some "features" are products of the engine that are either bugs or consequences of mechanics. Some are worthwhile addressing (such as wavedashing), while others aren't really worth it because it doesn't outright break anything (removing hardswapping).
      Of course hardswapping is intentional in the sense that you can equip a weapon from your inventory whenever. But I don't think hardswapping within the context of how PvP pros do it and how the video addresses it with quick hardswap (hardswapping quickly to mixup weapons & attacks) was something in Fromsoft's purview. After all, the quick hardswapping inputs is responsible for the Chainsaw bug. Is that intentional? The obvious answer is no.
      I disagree with solutions saying hardswapping should be removed. Just imagine swapping to a weapon to test it out, only to be locked out of swapping because you got into combat! Now you're stuck with an un-upgraded weapon, simply because you decided to try it out in PvE with enemies nearby. Everyone already hates the map lock-out in combat.
      My suggestion is adding a slight menu delay. You can still hardswap, but you'll have to be more deliberate about it, and can only hardswap few things at a time, like a talisman or a single weapon during neutral or retreat. So if you want to counter hardswappers, you can by applying pressure when it's obvious they're attempting to do so. But, you're not removing the expression and freedom of hard swapping. Then, you'd remove unintended side effects and bugs from hardswaps that have riddled the game since DaS1 (and also chainsaw bug in ER).
      Also, Fromsoft should just add a shop after beating the game that lets you buy as many weapons and AoW as you want... That would prevent weapon duping and give players more accessibility to this strategy.
      tl;dr, I don't disagree with you entirely, but there are some hiccups with this mechanic that clearly aren't intentional...
