@@conradhansen6180 well, the army of the weimar was incorpored on the wehrmacht, and all of that training dont stop the soviets, so yeah, is very unrealistic that 60k soldiers could fight against 2m, and that without saying that the SA was very indoctrinate so i doubt that 60k soldiers would fight for weimar when they where in a big depression, and in a economic crisis, a fanatic soldier is a big weapon too.
In the Hearts of Iron spin off “Darkest Hour” by Paradox, the game starts in 1933 and I’ve always preferred how it gives you more time to build up and it’s more politically interesting in terms of shaping your nation through events and decisions.
Well, it would be nice to see more non-totalitarian runs but unfortunately those tend to limit your options. This game only lends itself to map painters.
Democratic Germany in Calm Before the Storm tends to actually be stronger than the totalitarian variants. Alex's first mistake was... well not forming a broad coalition.

Probably one of the best mods if not the best out there, I love the fact that it has the build up to ww2 and then also has ww2, obviously the balance is a little off and weird, but its still fun to play as each changed country and do each scenario. I have probably done every single possible german path, and most of the uk as well. I have really enjoyed playing this mod.
I love how you can't prevent the German Empire to keep crumbling under internal pressure while threats from the outside are mounting and you just throw your hand up since there's no way of preventing the inevitable. There's a history lesson in here somewhere.
Hi Alex, Did pretty much the same run as you did and had the exact opposite happening to me. My germany was the strongest i've ever had. I didnt even have to call in any of my Allies or go around the maginot. Its really interesting to see the huge diffrence between our two games, eventhough they were so simmilar.

It adds so much depth and detail at least for what i have seen of it so far. it is ture that you need to get into it a bit sicne its way harder to manage the focuses and decision than in vanilla. but if you have gotten a hold of it its awesome
Raise of Nations is one of the best if not the best mod right now in the workshop and its updated all the time to make a game from 1900 to modern days all with focus trees, economy, events etc
I dont know if you know this but it actually makes a difference in which order you have your production because ressources go into the top ones first and this effects your production overall

There is a nice search function in the focus tree now. If you searched something like treaty or Versailles it would highlight the focus, which has the searched term in its text
Ayyy, so glad this mod is finally released, even if it is beta and hope to see you play it more. Really interested what paths are possible for USSR there.
Part of the issue lies in that the devs are trying to be very historically accurate (like it is feasible that the DNVP would come to power, but not like, Strasser) and part of that leads to them making it basically impossible to win WW2 as Germany, or very very difficult, so they have to balance a Germany that gets really strong, and then collapses really fast.
FYI the mod developers have tried to take a realistic approach to nations. So idk if monarchist Germany is supposed to be nerfed or you didn't play optimally, but I know Nazi Germany is supposed to eventually collapse. Even if they somehow manage to defeat the USSR.
I think Paradox missed a huge opportunity here, they should be looking to making expansions themed around these earlier start dates and provide different starting scenarios, compared to other Paradox games, Hoi4 is in need of some “love”.
