ok mister
kill the comparator, marry the observer, and there's a reason they put a mouth like that on the dispenser
@@bentoncozzi612 i hope you get to appear as a guest on that video
what's your second channel
You also have to think about the people who put false bug reports for redstone but also mojang don't see if its a true or false bug report so who's fault is it ?
i wonder what redstone tastes like
same
Popping candy...
😋
Sulfuric acid
I tested it
Sticky pistons would be green apple
Redstone dust, block, torch, and target would be cherry
Repeter and comparator would be Pina Colada.
Dropper, dispenser, observer, and crafter would be lemon
Copper bulbs would be orange
Wind charge would be mystery
Levers, buttons, pressure plates, will be pinapple
This is like watching a redstone group therapy session
ONG THAT WAS MY FIRST THOUGHT LIKE AA MEETINGS
True. The podcast idea would be cool!
MattYapWings
Guess that makes redstoners toxic 💀
lmao
hi

Mojang is just nerfing Redstone so that we don’t make a Minecraft sequel before they do
NOno mojang is making redstone bad, to get these super intelligent people, some of whom have degrees in highly advanced computer things, to apply at mojang, so they can change it back, and then have these same people work for them and make bigger updates even faster.
Lol. That conspiricy theory is so crazy, that it just might be true.
The crafter:
Copper Lightbulbs:
@@the_local_gamer1729 bro ur turning me into a conspiracy theorist wtf
@@the_local_gamer1729 holy shit that makes so much sense
1 tick delay of copper bulb is actually the game changer for note block music, the potential is almost like inventing number 0 but for this area.
Instantly you can make songs with much more rhythmic detail, just like that
Such a good point!
it's a game changer in every context of redstone honestly. Which is why it was so beloved
You can do this with some weird scaffolding things... The copper bulb would be much better for this.
This really need to be a podcast holy shit
I'm surprised that nobody brought up movable tile entities
111 likes and no replies, let me change that
For real though
It'd be awesome and it's a feature we'd all love don't get me wrong but it's not very technically necessary thing for redstone as whole, so major redstone creators aren't like begging for it
Like there's not much that we can't do without it, it'd just be nice to do a few specific things, and it'd also be pretty fun lol
because honestly, they are not that useful. I almost never use them other than for world eaters
@@piersonlawrence3467there are actually so many things moving tile entities would enable
The redstoners may be a small community, but a lot of people watch and follow them
yep, lots of people definitely use their builds for their survival worlds.
I absolutely agree with that.
Still a minority of players to an extent, since the vast majority of players are little Timmys on their parents tablets or phones not using the internet for anything else than watching skibidi toilet or other brainrot
@@antoinedube-cote155yeah, most people use like an item filter array at most (those are so simple it’s not too much even for a little kid) but even that goes beyond what most people do.
I heard a suggestion to make oxidation stages of copper bulbs affect the ticks. Un oxidized would be 0, slightly weathered would be 1, weathered would be 3, and oxidized would be 5.
That would give us what we want WHILE keeping the current one AND give even more functionality
That's actually a really good idea, i like that
110% sure that if the community said that the copper bulb 1 tick was a bug, they wouldn't end up fixing it and say "it's not a bug, it's a feature"
Seems like its the only solution lol
nah, they'd just fix it anyway cuz bedrock is the "official version" in their heads
@@4deemiquasi connectivity
@@4deemi That's more so Microsoft than it is Mojang. Mojang cares about each version. Bedrock just makes Microsoft waaaaaaaay more money so it gets more attention. Mojang is actively trying to take care of both versions and the complaints from both player bases while trying to keep parity, but if Microsoft had their way they'd just abandon Java. They legally can't make them cause when Notch sold it that was a part of the contract they signed.
@@izzylee64 microsoft and mojang are the same company, microsoft literally OWNS mojang so microsoft gets to decide most of the changes as well. although if microsoft had the chance they would just get rid of java but now they're trying to do that but more "quietly" (bedrock and java are being sold together and multiple bedrock changes are coming to java, which neither sides are happy about as bedrock is losing its uniqueness and java is getting bedrocks godawful reporting system)
smh, you forgot to include New 3DS Edition redstoners 😡 😡
idk what to do with my life anymore :(
That's the smallest community of Minecraft, for sure
List of things I want:
- Semi-Transparent blocks (can transmit redstone downwards but cant be powered)
- Let dispensers plant stuff
- Maybe make comparators transmit single tick signals
- Make a light source who's brightness depends on the input signal strength
- Give something like the og copper bulb
Not the comparator thing, that would break so much
Comparators having 1 tick will break so much redstone. Better to just revert the copper bulb. For light level that depends on redstone signal, maybe combine the copper bulb with another item? Maybe glow ink sac
I'm not sure if dispensers should be able to plant stuff. Villagers do a good enough job and it gives them a unique use. But dispensers should be able to interact with cauldrons. It's ludicrous that they can't.
@@4203105 well there's non-crop things like saplings and sugarcane
Do you want to build a dispenser cannon?
mojang should watch this, they might learn something
Bro facts
My only guess is that they want to add these changes but it’s hard to get these changes past QA, due to Mojang being corporate
they take a year to add a useless mob
I don't believe in them making positive changes
Agreed, I bet it’s a Manglement issue
Imagine Mojang watches this video right now. What would they say about it I wonder?
31:35 the “Erm, actually” should be it’s own soundbite. It’s so good

“Unfortunately ray’s works”
Lmao
Ok wait what did ray do I know some stuff but the like it’s all over the place and a lot of it seems more like a feud rather than a serious problem
Edit not defending him legit curious
@@FQT_Keller-Ash He got banned from prototech for (allegedly) being toxic and racist (he used a slur with N-word as the name of his alt). He denied being toxic, and said that he thought his alt's username was OK, because his black friend told him it did not offend them. AFAIK, he stopped using this alt. Make what you will of this.
If you want to see the evidence for his ban (33 pages) you can search for "Rays work ban evidence" and decide for yourself.
Besides that, there are other problems people have with him, but the prototech drama was the most serious one.
I got no clue what happened. The guy made Ray sound like a toxic boss. How far off am I?
Ray has been lying forever about what he "discovered", every time something cool is found by someone, he try to act like they stole it from him, ask for credits (wich ofc he should not get at all), try to make his own vocabulary (quarry/tnt duper, world eater)... and a lot lot more, so now in tmc he is just a punching-ball for pretty much everyone.
@@katieingridfalcon4960 Yeah that’s pretty much a spot-on description. Toxic, overbearing, manipulative boss xD
35:28 as a WarGear player, TNT cannons give people such a sense of arrogance if they manage to outperform other people with it but in our case that is for some people what the fun lies in. Because if you compete in tournaments with those cannons this sense of trying to stay ahead of everyone else is actually really important.
That doesnt mean of course that bloating about your achievements is very nice but I think some people get a bad impression about people who dont really mean to be that way.

we need to invest in better microphones for the bedrock redstoners
Lmaooo
nah, put all that investment into a better microphone for Myren Eario
Not everyone has a streamer setup. Some people game part time.
@@Wopkothere are 10 dollar lavalier mics from Ali express that sound better than their phone mic
Sorry my mic isn't the best, I'm working on it and I typically use filters to make my mic sound better in my vids, but since this was live I couldn't do that :)
I was not expecting an hour long video
I have one idea for pistons. Honey and slime pistons. Honey pistons will have java features. (I feel like honey is weaker than slime?) so honey will let go of the block in 1 tick pulses. And slime pistons will have bedrock features. So it will not let go.
That's a good idea, connects the crafting recipes really well with in-game logic, which is gonna be tricky to do.
Most of the differences effect both sticky and non-sticky pistons, so you'd need to have the different crafting recipes for the regular piston. I guess you could use slime/honey for that recipe though, then use slime again to make it sticky.
Yeah, the honey vs slime thing could definitely work
It’s a great idea, and would work well, however would break most piston extenders
@@bred4ev3r sorry if I just misunderstood, but how does the idea break piston extenders?
@@bred4ev3r he doesnt suggest to change the piston, just to add another piston where one has java functions and one has bedrock functions.
It would be great but for parity reasons they can’t do it. Having two pistons that do the same on bedrock is pointless.
Separate from the topic of the video, I really appreciate how you've "shot" this video so that, _most_ of the time, I can tell who's talking despite not already being familiar with these folks and their voices. Great work mate!
Jubilee is in Minecraft now
This is a really good watch if you're doing something else at the same time, its like a podcast
This is like a podcast. I love it!
You should do a spicier version of this though lol, but really, it was good to see people just chat about this kinda stuff, it's nice to hear their more general thoughts you might not get in a regular video
I’m honestly surprised how even such big names in tmc get so much stuff wrong about the source code
We need the Minecraft dev in one side and redstoners in the other side, it's going to be Wilde if it happen. Imagine Minecraft dev and redstoners argue with each other and that argument have a result and change something...
You would need to add Microsoft "management"as a third party to the group, and the devs would probably end up without a job after the video...
"F*%$, SH#^, thank you"
One of the best lines I've heard lol
I loved this video and I now I really want a redstone podcast
this is really fun to listen to! i am not part of the redstone community, but hearing about their own opinions and such really makes me want to go back and build again.
We need more redstone podcasts
I agree, I'd listen to them all the time if I could
this is my new favorite podcast
Im a bedrock redstoner and i say that java is better in every way, but both systems would be incredibly better if mojang gave both versions java redstone BUT added moveable tile entities, and while im saying this, give both versions bedrock creative mode flight i tried java a bit and that slide is ATROCIOUS
This totally could be a podcast!
Loved the discussion in this video, it's great hearing from a bunch of different redstone youtubers in one video
Yoo, loved the jubilee inspired video
They really should start a podcast
This is a well done video crafty, watched it fully
Redstone nightmares is crazy. But seriously I love how redstone youtubers really take one for the team and help everyone out with their contraptions and things :)
Man the redstone nightmares get bad 😭
I am a small RS tuber and this was kinda encouraging. I really want to connect w/ other RS tubers but very afraid as I joined a very topic community with someone who kinda was abusive and just refused to not insult me for honestly learning while also being a full time employee and/or student.
I promise 90% of the communities I have joined have been so opening and not rude. Sure there will always be that one person who it, but you just have to ignore them because they really want is attention. I hope you join some more redstone communities in the future. I promise you won't regret it :)
never in my life did I think I'd learn so much about the community I've been a part of for so long
sounds like you guys need to make a easily accessible, clear, and expansive encyclopedia of redstone so that more people can get into redstone and that the community grows. idk how you'd do this but seems like a good idea
Learning redstone is very much like programming. You can get all of the documentation and some videos of how to use something but when you want to use it for something else then you are one your own.
True, but it feels so rewarding once you create that one thing on your own

If there's one thing I appreciate about watching Etho all these years is that he has always been very good at explaining redstone even mid build. So whilst I'm nowhere near an advanced redstoner (and neither is Etho anymore), I've learned a ton off him. If there's any content that exists of live redstone building, many of his episodes have excellent explanations.
i'd rather the two versions remain separated and alive, cause like, I DO NOT WANT MINECRAFT BEDROCK TO BE THE ONLY MINECRAFT, the marketplace is the bane of my existance, it's full of ideas that you need to pay money, and it's not even worth it, like, you want a texture pack? boom, 30 bucks, you want a "mod"? boom, 40 bucks, and so on and so forth, everything should be FREE, since minecraft is a PAID GAME!
if minecraft was free, then it'd be "reasonable" to have paid microtransactions, but it's not, so i hate it, that's the only reason why i don't play or like bedrock, i in fact hate it
Hate Minecraft bedrock too, it’s stupid that mojang is pushing bedrock as the true Minecraft version
Totally agree, I've no real problem with Bedrock besides the marketplace, which is so antithetical to my favorite parts of Minecraft
We have learned from Bethesda that paid mods is a TERRIBLE idea.
And yet Mojang is doing that exact thing
You don't need to use the Marketplace.. just ignore it.
I do that. Do I dislike some of it? Yes, absolutely. But there's also some hidden gems. And also, Bedrock has free mods, maps, and texturepacks just like java.
Why are people so ignorant, there’s hundreds of free packs for bedrock on websites
I love the idea with adding both sets of features to both games by adding blocks, with pistons you have a perfect opportunity with honey, split sticky pistons into slimed and honeyed pistons, have one craft with honey the other craft with slime to achieve parity you update all the sticky pistons in one version to slimed pistons and all the sticky pistons in the other version to honeyed pistons.
For glass towers maybe it's reusing the wax mechanic where hitting the redstone with tools/items changes the state, perhaps wax would be the answer, 'stick' redstone to an odd location and scrape it off with an axe and with an update you could again update one version in one way and the other version in the other way.
There are features like budding and quasi-connectivity which would be really tricky to make parity especially since they're essentially bugs in the Java code that everyone loves cause they have uses and people have gotten used to it, but where just adding new blocks or new features allows keeping both sets of ideas in both games I think it's an ingenious approach to bringing the two redstone systems together.
Welcome to the time stamps comment lol (Maybe consider watching the video without skipping around though, you might just hear something that makes you change your mind about certain topics!)

Loved the video its nice to see how redstone youtubers see the game and what they think of the game right now and the redstone community is like. all in all great video man.
This is a really interesting point of view from people that actually swim in these kind of problems/topics. Thanks you for the very interesting video Crafty! AND thanks for the insights from all redstoners in the video of course!
i love this podcast style videos!
talking about redstone youtubers, i think something stopping a portion of potential creators is also that well... the existing ones are REALLY good and its really hard to build something that one of them hasnt already done better. So the quality bar can feel quite high
"TnT cannon people are so elitist" as an old factions player jesus christ is that true lol
I have made suggestions how to improve redstone with copper wires to get full parity, but every time it has been straight up deleted.

Love to see how other Redstoners think of things ^^
Great format. I know you are primarily a redstone focused channel but this would be great with players from other genres of minecraft as well. And also more with these redstoners.
Fantastic video! Found the insights from everybody very interesting. And also surprisingly not that big of a difference in attitudes/opinions between Java and Bedrock! Great work bring everybody together and facilitating this one 😊
Time to take these ideas and make a mod to make a redstone dedicated version.
Love watching this style of video, amazing idea to put it in Minecraft
"FUCK, SHIT, Thank you!"
For redstone parity, I would say that it shouldn’t exist, but only in redstone. They could add bluestone, which would work the same as redstone, but the way that it works on the other version. Bedrock redstone is bedrock redstone, Bedrock bluestone is Java redstone and vice-versa. Personally, I believe this would be the best way to implement parity, as it doesn’t break anything and only adds.
I am going to be really sad if java gets phased out without the pvp being transported to bedrock, bedrock pvp is much worse and theres this whole community, very similar to redstone, who spend their entire life in this completely different game. If minecraft java is phased out they should still allow server hosting
No way its the redstone avengers
One thing I always see in redstone texture packs that I wish they’d just add to the base game is things that express orientation or if a piston is sticky on all or most sides. Being able to glance at something and know it’s direction is so useful
I was kinda hoping to see the bow tie man appear for the first time in ages on the bedrock side, but no such luck i guess
Man I wish I could have met him. I've watched so many of his vids
You also have to think about the people who put false bug reports for redstone but also mojang don't see if its a true or false bug report so who's fault is it ?
I think something that could potentially help with parity is adding a few new blocks into the game. I had an idea for a new piston that would let you pick the pickup delay on it. So for instance in it's base configuration it would act like a 1-tick piston in Java, spitting out the block on the first impulse, then taking back the block on the second impulse. And each configuration would add to how many impulses until it retracts the block again
Considering the issue with redstone archives and finding things, I would love for a redstone news channel where they talk about innovations and upcoming things in each space. Would be a great way to spread knowledge of redstone, as well as having a redstone related place that prioritises entertainment without having to pretend to be a redstoner.
I can image on screen info cards explaining what certain technical words mean while the voiceover talks about what the build does and who made it
We need to create a website that has all the documentation for timing best Redstone, it anything that would require documentation on how to explain it
That website could possibly also include embedded TH-cam videos of peoples designs of projects
Commenting to let you know I've seen both thumbnails plural times and the quazi connectivity is a bit more attention grabbing at a glance, though the thought of a bedrock player and java player looking at the quazi connectivity, one understanding and the other confused, might fuse the ideas well
I think a potentially interesting way to learn redstone would be to come up with a list of useful builds in increasing difficulty, then try to figure out how to do them on your own. Granted this would only get you so far, but it would at least be handy to have a list of builds that would progressively teach you something.
I knew this reminded me of middleground from Jubilee, shocked comment section didn't mention it enough.
Also middleground does this on topics like is college worth it? And stuff like that.
This is now one of my favorite Minecraft videos. Love hearing red Stoners talk
honestly going straight from not fully knowing how a comparator works to building a computer just worked for me, i started by copying the things some guy did 1:1, then try to figure out what tf was happening myself because the dude wasn't very good at explaining and showing how the different parts connect, and got all the way to building a calculator (basically a computer where the user is the control unit), then i kind of understood how real computers work by learning some assembly and ended up designing my own adder, comparator, display (that one is the easiest), registers, ram, rom, counter, everything
this took what, like a year to learn
Feels like this video is the type to go absolutely viral.
The biggest problem with bedrock redstone is its inconsistency, sometimes the piston pulls a block, sometimes it doesn't, just doesn't work the way I want it to...
Love the concept ❤
We should motivate the builders and other Minecraft players to do this
might be useful to add voice indicators so we know whos talking (gotta isolate jkms glorious audio quality from whoever had the xbox mic)
what the actual fuck, start a podcast immediatelly, same format
redstone is the lifeblood of minecraft, and the very reason why I got into the game. The level of automation it allows, and the technical challenges of building whatever the hell we want in a way that functions, are the main reason why I play minecraft in the first place.
The locationality and directionality issues are a hassle though, sometimes they're a massivepain to deal with. For example, I built a 1 wide tileable system for a hidden crafting bench, with really damn awful space constraints, to fit between 4 shulker loaders in a 1 wide column, in a way not to break them. (not hard power blocks at specific heights). I built it, it worked neatly with minimal space requirements (as in, it's within the footprint of the piston layout, only 1 block extra below the bottom piston's row, where the actual input is.) Than put it in place, and sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't where I actually need it, while in my test environment, I chained a bunch together, with sea lanterns instead of crafting tables, and they worked perfectly in walls as a series of popup lights in a corridor. No issues whatsoever. I think the issues when it didn't work properly were mostly during a lightning storm, I'm not sure wether that affects it in any way shape or form, I don't think it should, maybe I just tried toggleing it twice too fast, but it kinda broke. It does work most of the time there too as well. Like 99% of the time or so.
Thankfully however, even most of the builds where I experimented with the 1 tick copper bulbs didn't break. One of the crafter builds I made should have broken by all means, I have no idea why it still works, but apparently it does. I know, I tried it with 2 tick bulbs too. It was a part of an automatic mosaik block crafter. I literally had 4 crafters chained in a single column to turn bamboo into bamboo block, than bamboo planks, than slabs, than those slabs into the mosaic blocks.
They should just add a switch for every Redstone block to be able to do whatever version. Add a key or something to switch it.
Nice to see tomco on here his bedrock hyper realistic elevator was insans
1:00:00 i love the focus on jkm when meck mentions storage tech
3:32, this is just more evidence Mojang doesn't care about the community anymore
i needed this
There really need to be more (Xbox360, PS3, etc.) Console redstone content creators. A third group in a theoretical redo of this video a few would help so much, even if said group is stuck to 1.12, 1.13, and 1.14.
When in doubt, use java instructions
26:32 yes please! I want a second part or a podcast
26:35 Please do start a podcast 👀 you HAVE to 👀 you MUST 👀
I think observers (while I really like them and they’re super powerful) have raised the entry level for redstone. They are basically the new meta and I don’t think there’s an agreed upon way to learn them. Many contraptions are just a mess of observers and note blocks and I have a tough time comprehending how they work. I kind of want a “modern guide to redstone” similar to the classic redstone guides but with a bigger focus on observers
It's kind of insane how Observers singlehandedly separated redstone into two eras.
@@meathir4921 you can build an "observer" with a torch burnout clock, you will get 8 pulses and it's extremely unstable but it does work. (good for sugarcane farm if you don't have quartz)
