Looking back at the dates for when I uploaded this video it looks like there are 4 days in between this video and my Darius Twin video. So this one took about 3-4 days I would guess. Other vids I have uploaded have taken much longer, with the most amount of time spent being on my Strikers 1945 II video.
just wanna point out that there's no slowdown in this game. along with Rendering Ranger R2, Space megaforce, Pop'n twinbee, firepower 2000, Gradius 3(SA-1 fix), Uchuu no Kishi: Tekkaman Blade, SD Kidou Senshi Gundam 2, and dariius twin(1 player no slowdown, 2 players it starts creeping in). also smash tv, and total carnage(those are like shmup/run n gun hybrids)
A game accidentally in my collection, accidentally because the guy I was going to buy it from off a forum said someone else had already laid claim to buy it from him. So I bought Battletoads Double Dragon Genesis, and another SNES game from him. Well when the games arrived, there was another game in one of the two packages he had sent me, Super Nova. My guess is the person who was going to buy it from him must've backed out, so in turn he sent it to me. He asked me if I had accidentally received Super Nova, I told him yes, and if he wanted me to send it back, he said nah, go ahead and keep it. Probably one of the happiest accidents in retro game purchases I ever made, I knew I already liked the game, but did not expect to get it. Edit: There was a third game I got from him as well at that time, the Genesis platformer, High Seas Havoc.
@@3xperiment8 Indeed, though he knew I was after Super Nova, and thankfully he didn't own the other 2. I do however, have D-Force, Play N Trade gave it to me for free on one of their buy 2 games get 1 free deal days. I am glad I didn't have to pay for it.
I am pretty average when it comes to this game. I can beat the first few levels zone a, b, and d. It gets insane after that, but I found a trick to beat the game. I have a ascii controller with turbo buttons. All I have to do is set the start button to auto and this slows down the fps. This way I was able to beat the game even on hard mode.
Practice makes perfect, beating it the way you've done it is not very satisfying, no way you feel good about beating the game this way. This is not one of the harder games in the Darius series.
@@PEG I know it's been 7 years and you probably know but just to point out; all Snes models output rgb natively with correct cables. Although first models have more natural colors, rather than more saturated colors in last models. The model 1 from 1990 also has slightly better sound.
I had this game but every time I reach one zone my ship explodes for no reason. Not sure. I could never finish the game! Thanks for the playthrough. Might attempt this one on the stream now! ;p
I love Darius but this game is a step back from Darius twin imo. I don’t like the beam system and the way you have to change it during the stage. I feel it was an unnecessary change from the last game where the beams stack and why did Taito decide implement checkpoints when you die? I do like the music and some of the stages are pretty cool, especially the one that rotates. Anyway, I would love to see you tackle Darius burst another chronicles saviors on PS4
I tend to agree with you. Darius Force is a lot more demanding and intricate game with 3 different ships, strange shot combinations, and much different routes. Darius Twin is much more straightforward and the different paths don't really matter as much. Also, if they had just removed the checkpoints it would have made the game much better.
@r33mote I am saying that Thunder Spirits (SNES port of Thunder Force III/AC) was butchered from the Genesis/Arcade, but this game Super Nova/Darius Force, which came after Darius Twin was butchered even more than Thunder Spirits
This game isn't bad at all, maybe a bit harder than Darius Twin, but it just felt better to me as a Darius game than Twin did. Music tracks are also a bit better this go around. Feels more like Zuntata, though not sure Zuntata had a hand in either SNES Darius games OST. Plays pretty smoothly too.
@@3xperiment8 yes, but remember, this wasn't entirely game port flaw for SNES version, although they use SNES sample tones, and suffers from extreme lag, but the lag wasn't developers/publishers mistakes, the Super Nintendo runs using a Ricoh 5822 running at just 3.58Mhz, very underpowered for 16 bit era. Compared to the Genesis/Megadrive, received the Motorola 68000, and runs much powerful, more than double the power of the snes processor
I personally would blend both games together, add Planet Names, Boss Call Signs, one more Zone, and some new Captains/Mid-Bosses and Bosses myself, and then call it something cool like Darius Epsilon or something to that effect.
I have both and they both have their perks. Darius twin has the better music and you don't get to lose your upgraded weapons when you get killed but is only challenging on the last level now on super nova, the music is decent and it has a sound for every little thing which is better for me personally and it's the more challenging game but there's no 2 player and you lose all your weapons when you die. So in this case they both have their flaws but both are really fun to play
Zone B music takes a step in a bit of a gerudo valley direction, nice

All this Darius twin talk, but Super Nova has the better soundtrack and visuals for sure. The aesthetic is incredible.

I don't know if it's just me but the endings in the final zones aside from Zone O feel a bit anticlimactic.
That's because beating Zone O gives you the "true" ending.

It was released after Darius Twin, although I'm not sure if it's meant to be a direct sequel as far as the "story" of these games goes.

That's what I thought at first. As I got older into my teens then I actually like kinda liked it. I just wished that it was a two player game.

It's much better graphically and sound.
Game is very pretty but the sound and game design is sleep inducing.
