rest in peace. a beautiful genius all the way to the end.
You are right Michael - he does silence down the organ and it makes the song stand so incredibly strong with Leonard's voice and guitar only. This is such a powerful and in a way frightening song. Mr Cohen is the greatest!
Thank you for sharing this heartbreakingly beautiful version of Avalanche. Listening to it on a loop.
Albert, you've filmed quite a gem here! Such a truthful and generous rendition. I'm in awe.
This is pure class. Whoever gave it a 'thumbs down' deserves a kick up the rear end.
No song raises me as much as this one, just up and down all along, another dimension. Thank soooo much for the legacy, M. Cohen, i have begun to long for you.....
Haunting/Compelling/Brilliant performace and a mesmerising capture 💙
It was my first and last time to see him ... it was something special , unforgettable .
I miss him. That voice!!! I was one of the lucky ones who saw him at Coachella and I loved every second of his act.
Wonderful. Thanks for the video, Albert!
Wow, Albert, thank you so very much. This is really amazing.
O, love beyond belief ...
Thank you so very much for this video, Albert. Thank you, dear Leonard, for this song. It rips my heart out of my chest and then tenderly places it back in.
Magnificent, just what I need at 6.00 a.m. just as my day begins, love you man ❤️💝❤️💝
What an incredible rendition of a woderful song! Thank you, Albert, for sharing your amazing videos.
Probably my favourite of all Leonard's songs....some achievement. One thing I'm not sure of is why it's sped up when played live. Loses a little of its drama....still brilliant though.
I’m assuming it’s because of the guitar playing, sustaining that style of picking can be very trying. I know I couldn’t do it, my hand would cramp lol.
@@bronsonjohnson9019 Indeed. To make it smooth and flowing without mistakes is tricky. To my knowledge he only used this picking pattern on three songs - this one, Love Calls You By Your Name and The Stranger Song. It must have taken some effort to learn. Perhaps he didn't want to overuse it.
Thank you Albert. This is a wonderful song.
Absolutely brilliant.
Thanks!!! wonderful concert it was..
Wonderful and I need a Nick Cave cover of this
Nick has done at least two covers. One is crap in my opinion. The other magnificent. It’s on TH-cam
I’m glad he didn’t to see he was still performing this one in his seventies. He seems to really be honouring where it came from here.
Oh merci Albert, c'est un beau cadeau merci !!!
I’m back again, feeling just the same, love and miss you 😘
He played one mean guitar.
Great stuff Albert, he silences the organ after the first verse !, saw him do this in Berlin, he knocked us all with his bearded and shadowed rendition back then.
Amazing
Oh such a refined man! You will be missed forever 😥
Speechless...
always amazing!
It sends shivers down your spine. Loves brutal ignorance on petty seductive strategies. It commands: "Conquer your pain of loss, climb on your tears and be silent, grow stronger and move on to wherever I lead you. Serve me, in silence and solitude. I will come to you, like a thief in the night, in need for your love. But then I am always ONE. Out of your control and out of my own control. Nothing commands me. Not even my own will. It is your flesh that I wear, Frightening my love, but true."
Suena todavía mejor ahora que en 1971.
I have begun to long for you....
magnificient
His life was like a movie
HOW THE FUCK DOES HE PICK SO FAST?!?! Somebody please help me! I know it’s flamenco, but still, this is bonkers!!
The Beautiful companion of my soul. Irreplaceable Jewish prophet poet and powerful words genius
Avalanche
Great song but old Leonard Cohen cannot sing in 2013.
serve me well punica granatum, im youre snaky kind of teaching you decrypting faith and more
have no fear, im praying for your kind of flesh in ruling worlds of universe and house of light
see my only kind of smokey fights, i have routed all these rogue
the other side we have discuss what you have done before
i know its over twelve billion years ago, but you were bashing him before
My favourite Leonard Cohen song. He will never be forgotten in this household.
