I live up by where you've been at lately, fished most of the spots you've been hitting over the last year. Anyways in South Florida mullet get massive, I've caught them over 12inches in my net before lol.
Heck yeah another video! When I use the cast net, I twirl one time and while I’m twirling it allows the net to open up and then I throw it. It always is a pancake. I would definitely try it! Just do one spin and throw! Awesome video man! Last year I was using the cast net and caught maybe a 1 1/2 pound mullet and it was the funnest thing!
Ling cod and Green Ling on the Oregon coast are the best Salt water fish. My favorite fresh water fish is tied between a 3lb rainbow trout I just caught and Yellow Perch
I’m Bengali and your recipe for pan fried mullet was actually very similar to our method of pan frying them. I’m in nj and every year my family and I go for these fish and make a nice mullet fish fry to go with some rice and caramelized onions. So glad to see others trying mullet because I completely agree that they are underrated. Loved the video!
Great video! You should do one of those TH-cam rating videos that people often do. But do it on all your previous catch and cooks. That way we can see how you rate the different species as far as taste goes.
You can get a lot of items designed for scaling, but if you use your knife, turn it around and use the "back" of the knife. That way it won't dull out. But a simple spoon can do the trick as well. Great to see another awesome video. Still can't believe how great your first kayak trip was after the injury! Tight lines
If you can get the ones ab 12in they are amazing for tacos. Clean them just like u did then cut down the whole fish like going to filet it. U can pop the spine out so u have one fish with 2 flaps. U can season inside and fry them up. So good!
There's 3 variety of mullet here in Hawai'i. Steamed, then put julienne fresh ginger, chopped green onion, & cilantro on top & pour evenly hot peanut oil over. Delicious.
We have the fresh water mullet here in Michigan, but never ate them. I actually don't know anyone who eats them. Good to see you expanding your cooking in the video. Mixing it up, especially with those long sizzle shots, love it. Always more salt...always.
How to do them another way? Get that Smoker you talked about. Mullet really shine when smoked. BTW knick the tail, both sides. Bleed them right after catching for best flavor.
Keep up the great work state. Your videos have inspired to start fishing again and just recently I have caught a huge barramundi and its was delicious 😊!
scale it first always going to make your life always a lot easier. also, if you angle opposite of the scales but still go up against them it'll scale a lot better and won't tear the meat to as much (especially if you have fragile meat fish). Lastly you can use the back of your knife when scaling. It'll preserve your sharpness on the actual knife side.
With a cast net that small, there is no need to fold the net in half in your hand before throw.. But, if you want to fold it, you have to WHIP it you throw so get the fold part pancaked faster.
I’ve got a tip that may or may not help ya. While I think adding garlic and onion powders as well as your STATIC is probably delicious, you kind of want to sell the Static I assume. If so, I’d present it more as “all you need is a bottle of my Static, because it has all the flavor you need in there !” as opposed to the impression that even if you get a bottle of Static, you’re gonna want to add some more seasoning to make it REALLY good. Do you know what I mean ? Otherwise, I really enjoy your videos. You seem like a really nice guy who just takes us along fishing. Keep up the good work !
You can use a butter knife or the back side of a fillet knife to scale them. So u don’t have to worry about dulling your blade if that’s a concern if not That’s cool too. Probably not that big of deal on that small of fish but the bigger scaled ones
You should look for the bigger bull mullets, those finger mullets are kind of to small to get to much meat off but they are some of the best bait for inshore game fish though
Catch some of them finger mullet and go on the kayak with the popping cork. Guarantee a couple nice reds. Also come fish with me in Charleston SC. Captain drew Thomas
I've tried this with a sabiki rig in Newport Oregon for sardines and herring, i like to can them myself and do a recipe i found on Google to do a kippered snack. Delicious!! And the leftovers are great catfish bait.
Amazing video man! Haven't had the mullet, maybe one day I could try it. 4.8 rating is just as delicious as a 5.0! Thanks for sharing and I'm a new sub to your amazing channel! Take care and have a great week coming up!!🎣👍💯⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Love your videos @firststatefishing , but you need to up your catch and cooks. Your fillets are so tiny, you make a little portion for yourself. Make those big ones count. You have your own seasoning out now. Make it worthwhile with some nice big fish. make a meal, and show how you do it in your camper, or on the beach, or in the back of your truck.
Man i'm born and raised right here in jacksonville florida...... I would love to teach you a technique... Of catching mullet on Rod and real... And they're like 14 inches long and a pound or 2. They taste so freaking good.... Completely off camera just would like to teach you. It's a blast... You tie a chicken rig with like five Number 8 hooks.... Put on a bobber. And chum them with balls of chum.... You can catch 2 or 3 One pound mullet at a time.
For descaling my old man uses a bottle cap screwed to a stick. Pretty sure there ain't much to it. edit: its a beer bottlecap cus it has many sharp edges and is made of metal.
What's the best thing you've ever caught and cooked?? 🤔🎣 Tryna see something
I was in New York for my first time fishing and caught an 11 inch weak mouth bass, tasted amazing just because I caught it 🤣
Crappie “crab” cakes or blackened red snapper hard toss up

I was gonna say this, definitely use the back if using a knife, it dulls SO fast

When the mullet run hits floridas shores I catch so many. Best fish, easy to catch.

Wow that’s awesome!!!
In the Arabian Gulf we wait all year for the season. Our house eats it every other day. It's like butter.

If you have to de-scale fish inside, put them in a clear plastic bag and de-scale in the bag. It saves having flying scales all around your kitchen
You can use a butter knife or the back side of a fillet knife to scale them. So u don’t have to worry about dulling your blade if that’s a concern if not That’s cool too. Probably not that big of deal on that small of fish but the bigger scaled ones

you inspired me to start saltwater fishing thanks.

Use a metal spoon to scale your fish.

Yesssss get a smoker

Your oil needs to be hotter when you lay the fish in so they don't soak up as much oil.
The urge to move to Florida is real too pricey tho
wow
10 second rule on the one that hit the floor
mc n cheese n cubed halibut
The best way to de- scale. A fish is use a fork. 😊
Early gang
Let’s go 🔥
Fry fish outside in the open air, bro 😂😅
Faster with a spoon 🥄
I think smaller mullet would actually make edible bones
No boot
Scale the fish in a sink or a bucket full of water.
Looks Like You Like To Play With Your Food.
