Okay. As a Driver myself, two things. 1) Let it idle at the pump a few minutes to cool down. Turning off a heat soaked diesel will wear parts out faster. 2) Don't blow your horn at the Truck stop, usually it means someone is about to get ran over or backed into. Besides that it's poor etiquette for those that are sleeping(time of day doesn't matter).

Just a heads up Cleetus.on the left side of your steering wheel is some directional buttons for your dash display. When you are on speed display, if you push up or down, it will display your radar which will show the speed of the vehicle in front of you. Also, on your dash display, if you go to the home icon you will also have up and down options and one of them will display your current and trip mpg.
Gotta work on that truck etiquette. #1 Rule: NEVER honk at a truck stop.

Agreed, you need to get into the red on the fuel gauge to get a handle on what's REALLY going on fuel wise. And I drive a crane truck, with the winch line stowed over the hood when on the road, meaning.....if the engine dies I can't engage the PTO and winch down to open the hood! Cutting the cable is one solution, the other is using the starter motor, PTO engaged, to get just enough winch action to be able to open the hood and bleed the air out. Never have needed to do that though, even after being in the red several times, "I know my truck" indeed!

I was doing the same, and being European I have to convert to kilometres and litres for the number to make any sense to me. I am guessing about 2.5 to 2.8 km/L. Seems not too bad, for such a heavy combo. And the speeds seem to be a lot higher than the 55 mph that is allowed (and possible) in Europe.

No air horns and turn your head lights off when you’re going through the truck stop to keep from shining in the cab of sleeping truckers. You’ll make more friends.

Yeah the general unwritten rules wd all follow are fairly simple. Like:
-Don't pull into the fuel island unless you're getting fuel.
- After you're done fueling if you need to run inside most truck stops have space infront of the fuel island to make a quick stop inside after you're done (usually keep it less than 10min)
- Dont haul ass through the parking lot especially at night
-Dont park a bobtail in a full truck spot unless no bobtail spots are available (not a lot of folks follow this one anymore)
- Dont use horns unless it's a emergency ( like a swift about to back Into you)
- At night turn your headlights off coming in until you pill back out
-lastly if you pour your piss jug out your window next to my truck I will kick your teeth in

Beautiful rig brother. You deserve it man you’ve put in the work. That rig has a small fuel tank. 100 gallon tank at what 6-6-5 mpg’s. That’s about 450-500 miles to be safe. That sucks. I would look into adding another 100 gallons to it. Most big rigs have at least 200 gallons. Mine has two 120 gallons. Makes life much easier not worries about fuel stops since you really don’t wanna be fueling at smaller places.

Driving Freightliner almost exclusively personally, if you're always topping up 100% do yourself a favor and reset your leg in the trip computer every single time. Freightliners are pretty dang accurate when it comes to fuel consumption on that gauge. That way you'll know if you have 5 gallons left or 10 gallons left always a gamble but stay safe :)

Cleetus - serious advice, keep that DEF tank at full as often as possible - when that urea is exposed to air it crystallizes and you’ll be paying for a new DEF pump long before you want to. Just a heads up homie
If I’m not mistaken the new ones pull vacuum to prevent that right?
@@jaydancraven1117 I’m sure they do, but I worked for a large trucking company until quite recently and even with that, if the pump isn’t fully submerged, the parts are so small they will gum up very quickly

The pump isn’t in the tank, it’s called a def HEADER in the tank that has lines to go to the pump. Freightliner headers will last a long time it’s not rare for them to last 600k miles. But aswell he needs to keep def full because under 15% he will experience minor engine torque de rate and if he runs out he will be limited to 5 mph after a few key cycles.

Having owned semis most of my adult life,when you get to a half tank fuel up,you would be amazed at how much trash will settle to the bottom of your tanks over time and when you run your tanks low it hard on all fuel related components,ask me how I know..much love from Louisiana

Word of advice, when you're fueling at a truck stop, fill the tank and pull up, so someone can get to the pump behind you. it's a very common trucker courtesy, if you don't, don't be surprised when a driver is PISSED at you. You definitely woke up some truck drivers. We go to sleep at 8-9pm to wake up at 4-5am. Some do it earlier to get ahead of rush hour. You can pull into any truck stop and find more than 10 truck drivers sleeping. Please don't wake us up when we're out here trying to keep you safe on the roads.
Truth. Truckers go on whatever time they're allowed. Truck stops are one of the few times they get to sleep somewheres possibly a bit quiet and not shaking around. After the what 11 or 13 hours of driving, a bit of sleep is nice. That is...working ''by the books''.
That's why you don't park so close to the buildings me I park away from the building and don't hear anything of course with the A/C blasting in the summer or heater going and the reefer I don't hear a damn thing

A 2021 doesn’t have a bleeder ball or anything? My duramax has on on top of the filter head I doubt they’d build that truck and didn’t think about running out of fuel
