Oh, and meant to mention, I love the before and after shots. The drone pics reflect what a truly beautiful cottage garden you have. Just lovely. What an accomplishment in just one year. 🥰
Hi Linda. I think you look so young and cute today..love the dress. I am sorry to hear you have arthritis. I had a cyst in my left hand when I was five. My dad took me to the doctor and he xrayed my hand and said to my dad “ Your daughter already has arthritis.” I love all of your content. Your room will making a beautiful dining room. Have an enjoyable rest of your month off. ❤❤❤❤ You deserve it. Oh btw my husband could not hardly walk for years. He had his knees replaced. He was not afraid to ask for help from time to time…sometimes it was paid help..sometimes it was family or friend free help.
I’m glad you went against viewers’ objections to putting the sitting area in the front yard! It is lovely, inviting, and useful for spending and enjoying time in the best part of your property, amongst the flowers and plants and trees that you grew yourself!!❤❤❤
Love the Thanksgiving celebration in the parlor! Everything you do looks amazing. You are confident in your own skin so when you have a design idea and you love it go for it.
Yes Raymond and Mary she is lovely. I am a true Brit. Living in Louisiana with a beautiful garden . I m very feminine like her but lately struggling because of the heat and keeping up with evthg that needs to be done. She answered my question beautifully and with grace so I don’t care what you two think . You probably don’t garden anyway
Using the parlor as an occasional dining room is perfect! Those of us in small homes know that often spaces must be able to have multiple functions, even if only on occasion. I stressed for several years over how to finance the build of a larger art studio in our small backyard because I had my mind made up that we *had* to have a dedicated guest room, dining room, and mud room space. In the last 6 months I've figured out how to use my existing studio space more efficiently by utilizing the under utilized spaces in our small home-- which includes carving out an expandable dining area in our living space. Love seeing you promote how to make small spaces work beautifully!
Absolutely great idea to use your beautiful parlor as a dining room for Thanksgiving....and especially cozy and inviting with the fireplace glowing! The aerial views of your garden are exceptionally lovely! Thank you so much, Linda, for graciously sharing your gardening life with us! I'm always smiling during your videos! Enjoy every second of your very well deserved sabbatical! 💚💚
All your ideas for Thanksgiving & Christmas dining and decor are spot-on. Do it! Can’t wait to see how it all comes together. Will be here sooner than we realize. 😉
Love the drone shot of the front garden 😍😍😍 it really allows us to get a full understanding of the complete layout of your garden I love the idea of using your parlor as an occasional dining room. Your entertaining closet is so well organized 😊
You already look more relaxed and your sabbatical hasn’t begun! Love the dining/parlor idea, your outfit for the video, watching you transplant the angel wing begonias and methodically tell about it step by step (especially about the type of soil [whatever the hubs brings home]💙), and the kale chip crunchies! Enjoy your time away!
You are right about the care and patience required when going through old papers, business or personal. I believe that and have learned this. Finding gems is the reward.
Linda “ Don’t let your ROOMS boss you around “ 😆 Make the front room an all year round parlor / dining room.🍽️🍽️🍽️🍽️🍽️🍽️ As we get older we have to work smarter not harder🪭☕️🫖☕️🪭
Transforming your front room into a large holiday dining area sounds wonderful. It would be beautiful with the fireplace and diamond windows. I did the same in my wee cottage for my mom’s 90th birthday years ago. It was very intimate and charming. I can’t wait to see what you create. ❤
I will really miss your program while you are off! There are so few shows I enjoy like yours, you cover almost all of my interests. Enjoy your break and look forward to September.
I love your cottage garden! It is looking fantastic! It is quite surprising to see how quickly you did it. Keep being inspiring you. I told my hubby about your brick lined walkway, and voila, someone he met had bricks to give away! Ours is a bit rustic, but looks great. My hubby is my garden muscle, and really makes things happen. He also helps neighbors that are elderly or single moms. We moved here 5 years avo, and step by step building our garden. I think your parlor turned dining should work well. We used to push all our furniture around for Thanksgiving, and just extended tables from dining into living. It ends up being festive and fun.
I love today’s arial shots of your yard. Looks so full from that perspective and so beautiful. Your little “balls”, topiary, mounds are so inspiring and I’m trying to adapts those to my garden too.
S Amazing..you deserve more credit for that yard than people being so concerned about those questions.. Who cares... The home and yard are beautiful❤ enjoy all of it...I do!
Because some of us are REAL GARDENERS and pay attn to how to use our time economically. I’m British , her gardening esthetic is mine . Living in Louisiana and the brutal heat , I appreciate her advice greatly
Boy, it is going to be a long sabatical!!! I sure am going to miss you but totally understand you need some time. I love your idea of Thanksgiving and moving your sitting room around to accommodate a nice long table. So fun changing things around!! Have fun and hurry back!!
We just paid a young college man to clean our second story gutters and outdoor section of the windows. No more ladders for my husband. He started this business to help him through college. He only charged $190 and I tipped him well. Worth every dollar!
Your garden is just stunning even more so in the overhead shot. A labor of love. ❤ I make my kale chips the same way...they don't last long around here. I read a tip years ago: Lay a paper towel on the top of the kale (or lettuce) when you spin it...the towel absorbs some of the excess water the spinner doesn't get out. 😊 Then I give the greens an extra pat after I take them out.
Hi Linda,Your yard is beautiful. You are so sweet & gracious.I think the tables in your parlor for Thanksgiving be so cozy especially with the fire place going .I have gas logs our great room open to formal dining room what great idea to have the fireplace going.😊you are a true inspiration Thankyou for your channel.❤
The aerial views are just amazing as you can really see the scope of work you’ve beautifully accomplished. I would love to see some of those bricks scattered on the Lemon Lane path too! You can’t have too many bricks in my opinion.😍
I think your gardens are beautiful! I look forward to each video. Keep doing you! I hope you and your crew enjoy your sabbatical. I’ll be here when you resume.❤
You could definitely temporarily swap your parlor furniture for an autumn dinning room!! I think it would be fun doing something entirely different in the parlor 😊 Enjoy your break!! My husband and I will be travelling to New England for the month of September as we do each year, visiting friends and eating way too much lobster and clam chowder 😋 Greetings from Southern Ontario Canada 😊
Linda you are so realistic and I love and respect you for that, this weekend I got some good help from some Young Men in my congregation and I can say they were so helpful and I appreciated them❤❤😊😊❤
When we became empty nesters, I asked our sons for $10 gift cards from home improvement stores. Christmas, Mother's Day & Bday began to accrue. Lighting fixtures, hori hori knife, good soil, plants, etc. It's been such a joy. Linda you're right, everyone has a different budget. Thx for all your tips. cgzone8
Hi Linda! Love the idea of Thanksgiving in the living room! What could be more beautiful than conversation and laughter around the dinner table with a cozy fire going! Enjoy your time off and I will see you soon! Hugs! :)
What a great idea to transform a room to what is needed for a special occasion. You Are so inspiring some of your ideas get me excited and off the couch to try something different in the house or the garden.. I must say your garden is looming spectacular.
You are so inspiring Linda! I’m in South Carolina and it’s so hot most days to garden now. I love how you are already talking about getting ready for Thanksgiving etc. when you can’t be outside long. You make me laugh when you say you are old now. You are the youngest old person I ever saw!
Linda, Thankyou so much for answering my opening long question so kindly and sensitively. I’m a tiny bit younger than you and finding it a shock living in Louisiana with this pulverizing heat. I have moved from Kent, Uk ( I’m British) and so I too grow an English garden , yr design ideas I love. I try to replicate but it has been a challenge in the heat here and finding people who actually want to work . Your answers were thoughtful and comprehensive, so I thank you. I found it sad that some viewers don’t think it was appropriate for me to ask what kind of realism goes into creating beautiful gardens. You will know the work behind Sissinghurt gardens , Gertrude Jekyll etc and I do like realism in my gardening questions. Thankyou ! I received yr garden journal today and I delighted with it
I'm 80 and fortunately qualify for a yearly 'tree Up or Tidy Up' in my garden by a community Group. Naturally I pay for lawn & hedging every couple of weeks, depending on growth. The older I get, so does my garden, however I can't resist a garden Centre!! Have a lovely mini Break.
I think it will make an ingenious gathering eating chatting drinking space. Flowing through to front yard too. Helpers to hand. Someone chopping. Another grating. Another peeling while seated near the front door allowing you command of the kitchen and delegation of tasks. The group wallflowers will blossom while occupied.❤❤❤
In Europe, I've had dinner at the dining table which was set up in the living room. Living room chairs were pulled up to the table for seating. Homes or apartments aee not as spacious as our homes in America, so they use every inch of their living space. I think your idea is brilliant!
WOW Linda, just looking over your shoulders,at your beautiful front window box.Remembered that you cut back some of the annuals, and look how great they came back !
Love this!!! Thank you for the kale chip tip and recipe. Loved your answer(s) regarding how you get things done. At 64, and only a few yrs under my belt, AND being a "DiYer", gardening is very challenging! But, it is GOOD for me to figure out and overcome the challenges. 😊 Somerville, TN. Zone 8a.
Hi Linda, I know you will enjoy using the front parlor as a dining area when needed. We downsized and I got a beautiful antique gate leg table that serves as a “sofa table” of sorts until needs arise that I need more dining space when it converts to a full sized dining table with only minor room rearrangement to make it happen! It gives me 6 additional seats at the table in our open concept living/ dining/ kitchen home!
I think that a great idea for Thanksgiving, I had thought about that when you first moved into your house!! The spring show will be fabulous! Thanks for sharing 😊
Your idea to use the parlor for a dining space for Thanksgiving is brilliant. I can picture it in my mind as you described how you will set up the tables and create a large centerpiece on top of the tables. You are very good at thinking out of the box to solve challenges, Linda.
I love you making the parlor a seasonal dining room. I had an earlier idea that that room could be a hybrid room that had a round dining height or square table that you could use as your library/staging table with some lounge chairs in the corners. And that same table could expand to become a dining table on the occasion you need it. I love what you’re doing. Enjoy your break!
Absolutely an enthusiastic thumbs up on transforming your parlor into a Thanksgiving gathering spot for dining! We do have so much to be thankful for and would certainly be thrilled to see your beautiful center pieces again! Enjoy your time off, we can hear the excitement in your voice this past few weeks since you made the decision!
40:00 The money shot!!!! Love the view of the back hallway change up you showed in a previous video. Your pallor You do You sweetie. I love changing this up.
My house has an area meant to be a formal dining room but it is my quiet reading area. For the holidays we add temporary chairs and tables and I cover them with pretty tablecloths. They are easy to take back down when company leaves.
Love your idea of transforming your parlor into a dining room for Thanksgiving. Also, your idea of having the fire lit during dinner would provide a beautiful atmosphere; however, because it is a small room, I'm afraid those sitting next to the fire for the entire meal will be uncomfortably hot by the end. Been there.
We have a living room and a family room. As our family grew we turned our living room/parlor into a dining room. Its the room you walk into from our front door. We love it. It is also our library with two walls covered with bookshelves.
Are you a gardener Nancy ? Linda answered my question beautifully. I love her channel. I work part time . I’m an excellent gardener . I’m British and live in Louisiana and the heat is punishing . She is someone I admire very much and may be the sour grapes are yours.
I would LOVE to see your garden Nancy . Not a fake picture obviously. I’m an award winning gardener myself in the UK and merely asking for sound advice.
Yes, You certainly deserve a break! I just want to look pretty when I garden, but just cant do it! I start out good, but in ten minutes rub dirt on the back of my shorts ...!!! I love the write in question... How do you do this looking beautiful????? !!!! Love the organized entertainment closet! Great use for things you use on a regular basis. The dining room will look gorgeous for the holidays. I love to change things around my house, too! It gives me such satisfaction! We are not boring!!!!!
Linda we are RV’ers and space is a premium. In your newly organized entertainment storage space I’d like to suggest one of my favorite space savers. I use a clothe shoe holder to hold towels and other small none breakable items. I think your napkins would work nicely in one on your door. It would also free up that cart for more items. I enjoy all of ya’ll and have learned so much about my plants and owe it all to you. Thank you for sharing your knowledge. Enjoy your time off and we’ll see you in September.
Linda , I think the seasonal dining room will be fantastic! I personally cannot live without a dining room table in my house. I don’t decorated as elaborate as you did at your fairytale house. I sit every day at my table with my laptop and use it as a Meg shift, Office in ordinary time.
On finding help with a very small budget, i used my tools i could no longer use with my age as payment ti a handyman....post hole digger, tamper, large chain saw, older electric hedge trimmer etc. Bonus it cleared up space in my shed.
I LOVE the drone shot of the front garden! It’s so helpful to see the layout. Thanks so much❤
Will miss you the month of August but realize everyone deserves some downtime! Enjoy each day and savor the rest of summer!❤

Linda will ask opinions but like all of us she’s already made up her mind as to what she’s going to do.😊
The parlor will make a wonderful space to celebrate your Thanksgiving dinner! Don't be bossed by your plants, or your home spaces! 💕🦃
Love the Thanksgiving celebration in the parlor! Everything you do looks amazing. You are confident in your own skin so when you have a design idea and you love it go for it.
You are gracious Linda! No need to explain to anyone. Love your content!

Absolutely love the drone footage, just beautiful- gives a better perspective of your amazing eye for garden layout💕💕

I like how you did the kale segment. It was short and sweet and easy to follow. 😊
Linda, love the Thanksgiving table in the parlor . Can’t wait to see the room all decorated.
I like using found objects also. You can also make stepping stones from cement which look very natural.
Yes,yes, yea on the parlor dining room! It will be magical. Can't wait to see it. Enjoy your sabbatical.

Linda , I think the seasonal dining room will be fantastic! I personally cannot live without a dining room table in my house. I don’t decorated as elaborate as you did at your fairytale house.
I sit every day at my table with my laptop and use it as a Meg shift, Office in ordinary time.
I also have an OXO salad spinner! love it! When I see one at Good Will, I pick it up in case mine breaks! So expensive retail!
On finding help with a very small budget, i used my tools i could no longer use with my age as payment ti a handyman....post hole digger, tamper, large chain saw, older electric hedge trimmer etc. Bonus it cleared up space in my shed.
