When he made this video, he was getting on top of Lyme and it wasn't clear that the Bartonella issue would later emerge as persistent. So, I think it's both a statement of the optimistic place he'd reached for a more stable future at that point - but also the evolution of his musical journey beyond Sick Boi. The radical turn he says the album's going to take from here would be consistent with that. The track is the transition from Sick Boi to Slaughterhouse. Ren met Kit during his 18 months of treatment. He discovered she also wrote some music and sang so he had someone to create some music and jam with. Now he has had that period of treatment fail. The Lyme disease and Bartonella , an autoimmune disease have returned and it’s currently painful and difficult to adjust to . This is a song from the album Slaughterhouse he was trying to finish prior to returning yet again to an intense round of treatment. Disheartening for him since he’d had a taste of living a somewhat normal existence and was able to create the music that flows from him and breathes life into him. If anyone can meet this challenge it is Ren. He knows this pain all too well but it is conquerable.
I love that you brought up Marshall Mathers… I did think that might be an Eminem shout out. You are very thorough and I love it! I agree with your assessment… I think this is his rebirth/reinvention. He did say that this song is either the only or one of the only rap songs on the entire New album and the rest is singing.

Here's my thoughts on verses 3 & 4, differing form what you believe Ren is poetically saying, but as you know sometimes poetry & art can be self interpretive. Verse #3: Ren is giving us a deep double by using Skelington instead of the word Skeleton as in a reference to Jack Skelington from "The Nightmare Before Christmas". "The story goes that Jack is loved, respected, and even idolized by the other residents for what Jack does for them, but he has grown weary of celebrating the same holiday endlessly and is depressed about it."
So this could very well mean that Ren might feel pigeon hold, how some fans idolize and celebrate him mostly for the work from the Sick Boi Album. He's trying to say he's hoping to be known for more than just rap & only the music that revolved around the most painful part of his life. (((This would fit because by the end of this song he's essentially killing off the Sick Boi and all the dark and light variations of that character (Hi Ren). At the end of this song a new Ren emerges for the upcoming album which is also titled Slaughter House.))) In verse #4: Touch on what we can look forward to in the new album. Ren is Dexter & he's created a crazy new album in his lab. "Working in a lab a mad bad lad, Dexter" - referencing (Dexter's Lab) Unlike his Sick Boi album, Ren only has a couple of hip hop tracks, the bulk of the album is 90% melodic, so he's looking to switch up his style on the new album to blow us away. "Switch up the style like bi-sex, impress you" He also saying that he's worked hard writing new songs, making them heavy & electrifying - "Heavy lift - tricep, bicep, I flex the Thunder and lightning writing, I'm Tesla Connect, direct it, hertz disconnect The last part I believe is just Ren being a little bit braggadocious. He's letting us know how good he believes the new album is. I look at this as Ren evolving beyond the persona of Sick Boi. He has put out a new logo for each album so Johnson (the bunny) is the logo for Slaughterhouse, the next album, which apparently only has 1 rap song on it. (this one). So reinvention, or evolution, he is changing it up. Ren was talking in a twitch stream about having to accept he may never be able to tour or commit to live performances and you could see how gutted he was. He is still having to accept the possible loss of his dreams because of his illness, the fact he does so much is inspiring.

Consider that "deleting myself" can have more meanings that the literal one that virtually every reactor and fan commenter has jumped to. It's at least a double., anyway. The idea of resurrection or burning it all down to regenerate in a new form is a frequent metaphor in Ren's music. He is a Phoenix, to call on another mythological being. There is a Jamaican Boxer named Bunny Johnson, the first British heavy weight boxing champ and then there's Watership Down and all of the bloodstained bunnies. Recently Juliet Johnson, the granddaughter of Adams, who wrote Watership Down (originally the idea was from the story he told his granddaughters at bedtime) just had the rights to the book returned to her family through court. So Johnson is a bunny that fights for rights! Ren did a breakdown on Twitch then watched Knox Hill's breakdown. He was happy that Knox missed one of the bars (but you caught it - Million graduations). He said that he has started to write to mess with Knox to keep Knox on his toes. The other thing I thought was interesting was that he uses the word traumatic at the end but pronounces it like trauma tick bringing it back to the Lyme disease from the tick bite that has caused him all his trauma

There are many metaphorical deaths here as he loses more and more to his illnrss. The deaths are imposed on him by his illness. And he never knows when they will happen(sword of Damocles). He has tried to close the door tightly to his trauma of those realkt bad years. But his relaps almost put him right back there. The reality of Autoimmunity. I think his illness is the emperor he has to kneel to.
My take on the metaphorical death is theres a before and after for ren. When he was deep in his sickness and before his current fame. Then afterwards. Him officially getting diagnosed and healing (despite the relapse) and his music career taking off. We know sick boi album was in the thick of his health concerns. Now this new album he wrote when his health was improving significantly. So i say he is giving a symbolic death to the helpless broken self that was trapped in his illness. It reminds me of myself. When going through prison (funily enough right when ren was in the thick of his medical issues i was in prison the same time) then me being released on parole. Im not completely removed from my times and sometimes i have gone back to jail (ren not being fully removed from his sickness and occasionally getting hit with damaged health) but i am free from who i was back when i was in jail and prison. Much like ren being different from how he was back then.

What stick to me was what Ren said in his twitch livestream after the release, that this song is more about invoking pictures with lyrics to describe his inner world. So his lyrics are not really meant to tell a story, they are more like a game of association. So my interpretation of the line about arkham asylum and night darkest is about being in the shitiest place at the shittiest time.

I can’t help but wonder though if he’s also referencing a little bit of the dark side of the music and film industry, all the evil shit that’s coming out and all the names. He is definitely outside of that and I can’t help thinking that must be on his mind too. I could be wrong but his performance at the awards show was a little dig at the greed of these so called elites who think themselves gods over the little people. I look at this as Ren evolving beyond the persona of Sick Boi. He has put out a new logo for each album so Johnson (the bunny) is the logo for Slaughterhouse, the next album, which apparently only has 1 rap song on it. (this one). So reinvention, or evolution, he is changing it up. Ren was talking in a twitch stream about having to accept he may never be able to tour or commit to live performances and you could see how gutted he was. He is still having to accept the possible loss of his dreams because of his illness, the fact he does so much is inspiring.

Consider that "deleting myself" can have more meanings that the literal one that virtually every reactor and fan commenter has jumped to. It's at least a double., anyway. The idea of resurrection or burning it all down to regenerate in a new form is a frequent metaphor in Ren's music. He is a Phoenix, to call on another mythological being. You should also react to Masochist if you haven't already. The same theme resonates in Seven Sins.

Welcome to the Slaughter House!! There is no right or wrong interpretations w/Ren he wants people to think and discuss what the song means to each individual. Foe me the vid is about him being stuck in his head torturing himself w/all the swirling thoughts and voices like most of us have and when one comes out of a relapse Ren noted it is like re-inventing yourself. you have to move past the pain and fear and start over. Great Breakdown - you got a LOT of it on the first go through. You should see the 210 BPM Rap God Test by Ren. He's a beast! (th-cam.com/video/Drc9tqnie-4/w-d-xo.html) - There are so many layers to this, from the callbacks to all of the Sick Boi songs to the meta and mythical references. Unfortunately he has to be ripped to keep any body weight. His diet is so restricted it's difficult for him to maintain weight. He was so happy in his post release Twitch stream that he can now actually eat rice. 7 sins for 7 Rens. LOTR Sword. Kinda Zelda-esque. Only Ren can kill the Sick Boi.
The Bunny is named Johnson. There is a Jamaican Boxer named Bunny Johnson, the first British heavy weight boxing champ and then there's Watership Down and all of the bloodstained bunnies. Recently Juliet Johnson, the granddaughter of Adams, who wrote Watership Down (originally the idea was from the story he told his granddaughters at bedtime) just had the rights to the book returned to her family through court. So Johnson is a bunny that fights for rights! Ren did a breakdown on Twitch then watched Knox Hill's breakdown. He was happy that Knox missed one of the bars (but you caught it - Million graduations). He said that he has started to write to mess with Knox to keep Knox on his toes. The other thing I thought was interesting was that he uses the word traumatic at the end but pronounces it like trauma tick bringing it back to the Lyme disease from the tick bite that has caused him all his trauma

There are many metaphorical deaths here as he loses more and more to his illnrss. The deaths are imposed on him by his illness. And he never knows when they will happen(sword of Damocles). He has tried to close the door tightly to his trauma of those realkt bad years. But his relaps almost put him right back there.
The reality of Autoimmunity. I think his illness is the emperor he has to kneel to.
My take on the metaphorical death is theres a before and after for ren. When he was deep in his sickness and before his current fame. Then afterwards. Him officially getting diagnosed and healing (despite the relapse) and his music career taking off. We know sick boi album was in the thick of his health concerns. Now this new album he wrote when his health was improving significantly. So i say he is giving a symbolic death to the helpless broken self that was trapped in his illness. It reminds me of myself. When going through prison (funily enough right when ren was in the thick of his medical issues i was in prison the same time) then me being released on parole. Im not completely removed from my times and sometimes i have gone back to jail (ren not being fully removed from his sickness and occasionally getting hit with damaged health) but i am free from who i was back when i was in jail and prison. Much like ren being different from how he was back then.

What stick to me was what Ren said in his twitch livestream after the release, that this song is more about invoking pictures with lyrics to describe his inner world. So his lyrics are not really meant to tell a story, they are more like a game of association. So my interpretation of the line about arkham asylum and night darkest is about being in the shitiest place at the shittiest time.

@A-AronReacts it's a shocking one that he wrote when he was angry. I think it might help explain this video. Don't know how many Easter eggs you saw in Slaughter House but think of a Ren song and it's probably in the song (money game, sick boi, KBD, Dotta (kingdom come), Crutch, and so many more). So lots of Ren's songs and lots of Rens in this one. I don't want to give away too much on Masochist so don't google samsara til you watch it, lol.
You should really listen to the song before jumping ahead in the lyrics. Would stop you from thinking the ad from the lyric website is part of the actual lyrics.
