This is SICK. Can you please give me an idea what your signal chain was, and how you achieved this tone?
Thanks dude. This is one of my favorite Machine Head albums and creating those tones was actually not that hard to do. I don't use any real amps and everything is done using vst plugins. I also recorded 3 takes for the left and 3 takes for the right channel which gave it that more richer tone. I only used a plugin called TSE-X50. Loading this plugin alone already gets you there. I tweaked the pre-gain channel a bit and set it to between 1 and 2 and the post gain was set at 3. Everything else was standard settings. I then compressed it with a stock plugin from cubase using the "rock master" preset. only one of each Left and Right track had a slight chorus effect added which is also a stock standard plugin from cubase called studio chorus. The preset used there was called "guitar." and the mix was set at 28%. Everything then got send to a group channel which had an EQ plugin loaded called Fabfilter pro. The lows were cut at around 70hz and the highs only slightly cut at around 18000hz. When I mastered everything together I did a little bit more EQ (just the normal low end and High end cut) and put a limiter on the entire track so it doesn't clip. Roughly that's about it. Hope this helps you out.
