Did you know that the Gilman trail is built on an abandoned passenger railbed starting at 9:50 timestamp? (notice the raised railbed and the straight nature of the trail, the original line bordered the Aurora airport and went through DeKalb where a small segment of rail is still present along Peace road behind a fence). The trolley ran from Joliet to Rockford daily. The first section of trail was opened on the Westside of Aurora in the late 1960's between 24:00 & 38:45. It was one of the first rail trails in the nation, complete with brass sundials at each road crossing, and a playground (it was removed, now refereed to as Palmer Park). 44:20 original trolley trestle. If you speed up the video, you can pretend like your the engineer of the trolley
Cool bike ride.
I have been waiting for this upload, as I grew up in this neighborhood and am glad to find virtual footage heading eastbound.

Any Metra rides on the way?
They really need to repave the Gilman, those cracks in road are terrible, kills the ride for me, plus gives me headaches.
