I’m intrigued on training for my first Ironman. For the bike phase, how do you remember where you parked your bike with all those bikes?! Also, what happens if you get a flat while riding? Are you disqualified right then and there? Lastly, is it common for athletes to bike in the shoes they will be running in?
The racks are organized by number. Just remember your number or look on your swim cap. If you get a flat you have to change it. You might get lucky with neutral service but you should be able to change your own flat. I'd recommend carrying two tubes and two Co2s. You can cycle in running shoes but its very inefficient. Running shoes are designed for the sole to flex which isn't ideal for pushing on a pedal. You'll lose a lot of energy when your sole flexes. Id highly recommend cycling shoes.

your gear and bike. No. Almost all have clip in shoes. Will make the bike so much easier as you will have more power in your pedal. Just finished my first this year. If I can do it so can you.
