    You help so many people, its time people have a chance to help you in your time of need. Its a way of thanking you for your dedication to helping others. The world would be a great place if there was more that cared for others the way you do. Best of luck on your new build!

    I’m fairly new to the channel so most of what I’ve seen is from the last year or so.
    Watching this 7 year old post is cool to see you explaining things so well. You are so genuine. For me its weirdly calming to see someone so consistent & reliable . About the only thing changed (beside your new garage is the patina on the wrecker and you have way better audio.

    First of all great video love the updates and can't wait to see everything come together. I'm the the process of trying to find a rig to build for dresser. second of all I work on big trucks ( semis) for a living and all the ptos are gear driven they are much more dependable. And most can be engaged while moving.

    Why not run both hydraulic pumps? Can use whichever one works best for the situation, or you'll have a backup anyways. Also please add more bracing to the frame, lol! :)

    I don't know but judging by the way he describes them it sounds like belt-driven pump is a no-brainer. However, if its ridiculously loud that could be a deal breaker.

    @doughboy1966 9 ปีที่แล้ว

    Keep it hydraulic. I have operated wreckers for 30 years or so and I HATE PTO setups like you discussed. I like the belt driven systems much more. I would say your pump is worn or is cavitating like you said.

  • @datguy807
    @datguy807 9 ปีที่แล้ว

    use both pumps !!! on the new truck !

  • @ruwithlee1970
    @ruwithlee1970 9 ปีที่แล้ว

    Are you going to replace the seals and gaskets while the Engine is out? Also are you going to plumb in the engine driven pump for some redundancy?

    • @D3thM3tal
      @D3thM3tal 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      I was thinking the same - if you were able to put the pump back on and get some one directional valves you should be able to use the belt driven pump when moving and the PTO pump when you were stationary. In all reality though, I can see you using the belt driven pump much more because you frequently run the winch while standing at the corner of the truck.

  • @forterierocks
    @forterierocks 9 ปีที่แล้ว

    I have a transfer case pto on my Chevy and it sucks, shifting the case into neutral means your relying on your parking brake to hold the truck in place witch for you might be a little shitty especially if your winching, I suggest you get or weld up some wheel blocks to help stop you from rolling! Good luck and happy towing!

    • @yamahaenticer

      theres a brake lock (which locks the stock brake system ) on that new truck so hes good

    • @forterierocks

    • @Spearfisher1970

    I have the hydraulic system your new truck has, it is the biggest pain in the ass! I don't think you will be able to operate the wrecker going down the trails like you did, the pump just wont be turning fast enough. I always wondered what you had in the old truck, now I know.

    • @offroadrecoveryteam
      @offroadrecoveryteam 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      old man You are correct! I hadn't thought about it until I read your comment. If the pump is run of the t-case input gear, and I am creeping down the trail at a blistering speed of 5 mph in low range the PTO gear will only be driven at about twice the RPM of my driveline. Thats probably to slow to build good hydraulic pressure.

    • @oldman1505
      @oldman1505 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      The system sucks when you are running in 2 wheel drive, but when you are running in 4 wheel drive it can be almost imposable to put the t-case in neutral with out pulling ahead and backing up to free up the tension so you can shift it. More so with your big tires and in low range. Then you need to kill the motor to put it back in gear with out grinding the shit out of the gears! Now I know how you did it, that is going to the top of my list of things to do, as soon as I can afford it. Thank you!!!
