Only worked well on left eye, right eye still has pain on the left corner(close to ear), tear films look the same on both eyes, did my last treatment on July 1st, so still waiting for my glands to fill up after mgx, maybe it will get better on that eye and I will be able to get off xiidra(do not like this medication).

Yes, I have had the IPL treatment done 3 times that they recommend at the clinic ( here in Sweden ) last year in September .The relief lasted a couple of months only. Never bothered to go on a fourth , which is optional. So, with the heatwave going on here in Scandinavia , dry eye problems is flaring up once again. Although prior to the treatment last year, I tried taking extra virgin cod liver oil which also has natural vitamin A in it everyday and actually noticed the effect

Yes I have been diagnosed with Meibohm inflammation in March and June this year, so my interest in this solution is very high. Thank you for introducing this! A few days ago on facebook I got an advertisement that a clinic nearby offers this treatment. I will see what my Doctor Eye Health says to this. And I found out that a clinic in Munich (I am in Germany and far away from Munich) wants 1250€/ approx 1470USD for the a bunch of 2 consultations and 4 IPL session, but I hope to get it a little bit cheaper because Munich is a very very very expensive area. The (legal) insurance doesn`t pay for it, I don´t if the private insurance pay for it.

I had my first 4 sessions 2 years ago with the Lumenis M22. No significant improvement. Then when the OptiLight came out I had another 4 treatments with both the OptiLight and the M22 this year. After those treatments and still no significant improvement my provider just happened to be getting a training from a Lumenis representative so I decided to add another 4 sessions. After the training, they changed the treatment to include the upper eyelids as well. I'm now having the upper eyelids done with the OptiLight and the lower eyelids with the M22. I'm not expecting much, as the settings are pretty low for this new protocol and the past treatments, on the highest settings, didn't help with my ocular rosacea at all. The blood vessels are all still there. So by the end of this year I will have had 12 sessions of IPL for a lot of money (not covered by insurance in my country) and very little improvement. I have noticed, from watching videos like this one, that there's quite a difference in how the treatment is done between all the different providers; some use eye shields inside the eye sockets and can therefore use higher settings, some only shield the eyelids. It probably makes a big difference.
It actually didn't hurt at all by the way and they treated me according to all the latest protocols and sometimes on the highest settings, so it might be a case of sensitivity?

I've had IPL done as a photofacial skin treatment so when I learned it could help my extreme dry eye, I didn't bat an eye (pun intended haha). The sting is tolerable and absolutely worth it for the results, which are practically immediate. I highly recommend getting the treatment, but unfortunately it is not cheap. I hope more studies are done and more clinics offer this treatment. It has really made a difference for me. Even using a FDA approved at home IPL device has helped to maintain my results, but I don't recommend one of those devices for anyone who has not already had IPL done.

Hello, I am so very glad you were honest and said it hurt, because I've two treatments and both times, It really did hurt. The treatment took between 5 to 7 minutes, with little breaks when I needed them. I'm not at all wimpy. I walked on a leg with a broken fibula for three days. But I dread these treatments. The good thing is that it's all over in seven minutes or so, and it is helping with the inflammation in my eye and my doctor was able to get a lot of old, thickened oil out of my eyelids and my eyes and skin did look amazingly better afterwards. I have been very fortunate. My doctor charges $175.00 a treatment for both eyes. She's a very young, kind doctor and is very passionate about treating dry eye disease.

I don't think its overly recognised here yet however one doctor I've seen has said it will help my recurring styes in my left eye (along with some swelling) and not only help resolve the current one but prevent future ones and help my MGD too. Is this the case? Are there side effects and what is the rate of success? Will it be a permanent resolution - I feel like I have a lot of questions even though I am leaning more towards getting it done.

I've been doing IPL for dry eyes for +2 years now. It is the best solution I've found in the market. My eyes' health has improved so much, and I don't usually feel dry eye symptoms. During summer I would say it's the worst time, heat affects your eyes as the eye tear evaporates quickly. Also, pollution and lack of humidity both have a high impact on the eyes. In my case, when I started the treatment I had 4 IPL sessions every two weeks. After that, I only go back when I feel dry eye symptoms, which usually occurs every 4 months. This treatment is widely spread already and is present in many countries. I am from Madrid (Spain), and here the price ranges from € 150 to 250 ($ 160-270). So, it is much cheaper than in the US (considering the prices mentioned in the video), and the professionals we have here are some of the best in the world. So great quality-price ratio...Maybe when you come visit Spain you can drop by the ophthalmologist to have your IPL session done ;)
