Hi Kim! Stubborn schnauzers!!! NOT Just Mozzie! Like you, when my Ashkeigh lll, mini schnauzer, needs to take a pill ; I do a one-two-three method. (Three small pieces of cheese) I give her the first piece "the bait"; followed quickly by the second piece "the pill"; followed quickly by the third piece which she is anticipating "the reward". Ha! Ha! Ashleigh you got your pill!!!!😊
Joyxx, Wow Miggy what a little soldier he is . The way he just goes for his ball and just wants to play, he is adorable 🤗. Well what about Mozzie what a smart boy he is, frustrating for you because he needs his medication. It isn't very nice when you have to force the pills down their throats, we all feel guilty afterwards. If only they would realise it's for their own good. Bless. Little pensioner Mr grant enjoying the sausage so sweet. The care you give to your boy's and kitties is wonderful. The happiness shines through them all. You take care,🥰🥰🥰🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾 XXXXX
Lovely to see Miggy happy . What we do to keep our schnauzers safe . I am with you all the way with what you do . My little girl Rosie who is Maguns double and same age had her right eye removed this week due to severe problems after cataract surgery last year . I saw how well Mr Grant has done. We will do anything to keep our dogs safe and well . 💕
Cones and pills and cheese!! Glad Miggy is almost back to normal, he is even cuter than normal grumbling about wearing the cone. Mozzie eat the cheese!! Thanks for the turkey sausage info, good for humans too!
I can't believe how patient they were waiting on the turkey treats. Thanks for sharing these ideas. I think it's wonderful that you use your platform to help other dog owners. How about cream cheese? (That's what worked for my Patch.) BTW - So glad Mr. Grant is rockin' right along!
Miggy is doing good even with whining some. Mozzie may feel like he's gagging with those capsules. I've had that problem with capsules when my Schnauzer refused to take them. I don't know why they are so stubborn. By the way, mine refused the cheese, but getting a small piece of white bread and putting the capsule down his throat worked better, because it was a bit doughy. Thank you for the update and video. Have a nice weekend!
What a great idea with the turkey hot dogs! I am going to look for them. Milo and Magnum were so cute wanting their bite. So glad to see Miggy and Grant doing well.
Oh my goodness, bless your heart! Great demo for med coverup. I Laughed at Miggy not being able to walk. My Lexie has to wear a (sort of heavy for her) wireless fence collar and thinks it's an anchor!
Press and seal is such a good product. I think a wee bit of hotdog/smokey is less fat than "cheese" slices. It's not cheese. Miggy and Mozzie, such characters. The 'ole Schnauzer attitude...lol
Your boys are always so adorable even when they're being whiny and stubborn 😂 I love how Mozzie continues to stare innocently at you despite refusing to eat the cheese bomb haha!
Miggy is so cute. He says his foot is fine. 😂 we use sweet potato for pills. Microwave it in one of those potato pockets and it forms easy into little balls. They don’t even have to chew it because it’s so soft. Very healthy too which is nice.
Ahh the pill struggle… when my last guy had pancreatitis I would wrap the pills in either a pill pocket or cheese and then dip that into chicken, beef or turkey baby food. (Just the plain meat kind) that seemed to work pretty well. Wishing you the best, I know how awful it can become for both of you 💙
❤great video Kim,are you still giving them green beans? so good to see Miggy he is such a funny boy, wanted to play ball again❤ so cute with his cone on,he is like where is shnauzer Dad he will take the cone of lol ,love the shnauzer Family ❤
My dog started spitting his stuff out too. So what I started to do is give his wrapped pill and in my other hand hold another small treat and so he swallows it fast cause he wants to get to the second “treat”. Hope this idea helps
You come up with great ideas. My Bentley had surgery yesterday for kidney stones. This is the second time. But I’m going to try those turkey hot dogs to give his pill. I’ll see if he eats the meat 🍖 and spits out the pill. Worth the try anyway. Thanks for always sharing. 🙏🏻❤️
❤😊HI Kim So nice to see every one,Mr. Grant is looking good, they all liked the turkey hot dog 🌭 not so much with the pill 💊 inside oh that’s to bad , I hope the next few days go bye quickly its no fun when they don’t want to take there medication. I hope the smog clears up for you soon the forest fire 🔥 have been so bad this year already and the hottest days of summer aren’t even here yet . Xoxoxo well I hope you have a good rest of the week and enjoy 😊 your weekend Kim ,🙏🙏🙏🌷🌷🌺🌺🌼🌼🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🐶🐶🐶😻😻😻💕🌸🌻thank you for the updates be safe see you in the next video.
Cream cheese works every time! I get the organic one because of the ingredients. Only a little, but they love it! There’s also the Neufchâtel low fat kind, if you can find it. Another idea are plain meatballs with a little parmesan cheese in them or low fat cheese! No breadcrumbs. I made them before and they love them! Pills can go in. You can use your ground Turkey and make meatballs!
My mini has always had a very sensitive stomach… (I tried many things before, but they didn’t set in well with his stomach)I use Vetoquinol Care pill wrap, you use the amount needed to wrap the pills. I follow with a tiny piece of low fat cheese. So far so good! Bless your puppies!
Gosh I know what it’s like to have a difficult pill taker, our Abbey has heart meds she has to take twice a day I was really ready to pull my hair out fighting with her but the vet finally decided to refer me to a lab where they mix her meds in liquid suspense, she still acts out but I can put all meds in syringe and put in corner of her mouth, it makes it much easier. I am praying for all the boys and hoping soon you can catch a break.
I'm going to ask my vet about this. My Lucy takes thyroid meds and I have had no problems with it but now she's on heart meds like Abbey and she is being a stinker about it.
found this homemade pill pocket recipe homemade dog pill pockets 1 tablespoon water2 tablespoons quick oats 1tablespoon creamy peanut butter Place oats in a blender or food processor to grind them up finein a small bowl combine the water, peanut butter and ground oatsmix with a rubber spatula until completely combineddivide the dough into 12 small ballsusing the tip of a meat thermometer or a toothpick make a hole big enough for pill(s)store in plastic bag nutrition:serving 1g cal 12 carbohydrates 1g protein 1g fat 1g sat fat 1g sodium 6mg potassium 12mg fiber 1g sugar 1g iron 1mg
Hello just to let you know I get those smoked hot dogs and the salt content is high and my dogs vet said salt is not good so just wanted to let you know just in case there any special diets that don't mess with there health in any way. BTW I love your dogs and glad Mr grant is going well ❤
Kim, try putting the hot dogs and shredded cheese into a food processor. Make up some balls out it and put the capsules inside. He's used to both food's so he should love it. Good luck. Following you closely, going through liver issues with my Sophie.
We have a 15 year old Schnauzer. She LOVES bananas. I stick the pills in the banana a couple at a time in a slice of banana. She eats those with no problem. Just have to watch and make sure that one doesn't make it to the floor. She sees the banana and is there waiting on her snack.
One suggestion I've seen for dogs who want to spit it out is to have 3 to 5 treats, feed an empty treat first, then the treat with the pill, and follow immediately with an empty treat so that they are encouraged to swallow quickly so they can take the third treat. Good luck! The five treat variation has 2-3 empties to start, then the pill, then 1-2 empties.
Oh, man, @Schnauzer Mom! My girlfriend bought me a birthday gift of a necklace engraving of the schnauzer I grew up with (Seepy!) AND a tshirt with a schnauzer on it! She said she almost got me one that said "Schnauzer Dad" on it, but I told her only your husband is deserving of that official title.
Many compounding pharmacies compound veterinarian medications into an oral solution (with added favoring options). You give in a small oral syringe. I have found this to be a great option for medicating my cats.
Can you wad the capsules up in low moisture low fat shredded mozzarella cheese balled up like we do for Theo? He usually takes those ok with not much calories fat involved.
poop bag good idea. I use the self stick ace wrap for dogs but not quite waterproof, the poop bag looks like it works. Vevlveta or natural penutbutter has worked for me for pills. There is also a sausage that is turkey and apple that my dogs liked as well I found at walmart. Ive had pill pockets work I split them half between my boys and mold them around a capsule. I think you can get two pills molded with one pill pocket if nothing else works. Sometimes even velveta wont work on my boys. I was spoiled my last dog had to take about 5 pills a day and he would take anything in peanutbutter just had to put the pill in put the PB on the end of my finger and he would take pills like a champ. Wish every dog was that easy. and his heart meds were horsepills that he had to take but they gave him three more months with me in the end. . Hopefully you will find something that works a little better
My girl has congestive heart failure, so she has 3 pills to take, and she is a clever dog about it. I'd stick the pills in the hot dogs, and she knew how to spit the pills out. So, I crushed them to powder and put the powder in them. Then she decided she didn't like the hot dogs. I then went to roast beef lunchmeat (healthier than the turkey!). She liked that but then stopped wanting it. Now I crush the pills and mix it with water and give it to her via dropper. I love that apparatus you showed for capsules.
I thought Miggy would be playing ball, so glad he's in great spirits, except for that dreaded cone 😅. I don't think that cheese is what it used to be. It seems like it's more plastic than before, maybe Mozzie is sensing this. I wonder if 1 capsule at a time would make it smaller & easier for him to just swallow. IDK, but I do know that you will find the solution. Thank you for sharing & GOD BLESS 🙏 ❤ 😊
Well the hotdog idea is really good, I use cheese as well for my dog, sometimes she will spit it out but I've been sucessful by letting her pick it up off my hand and as soon as she gets it in her mouth I lift her chin to keep her spitting it out and she swallows it, I know you have to make sure the others don't accidentally get the meds. But do what you must they must, good luck, and you are so right that pill injector is really long... 💕God Bless 🙏and thanks for the updates!🐾
Have you tried pulling a capsule apart & pouring the contents into a spoonful of wet/canned dog food? I have one that is very crafty about avoiding her meds, too. I've had to resort to crushing tablets and separating capsules and stirring them up into wet food in order to get them into her. I understand your frustration. These boogers are so smart.
My dog has gone thru cheese, gouda cheese, turkey etc. What seems to work now is to scrunch it up in soft bread and dab it in some peanut butter. He is giving you a hard time cause he wants more treats.
Kim, is there a corresponding wet food for their prescription dry one? I use the wet food to make a little pill ball for my girl. I take a can and split it into tiny containers of food and freeze them. But with 7 dogs you would go through a can quicker than I did and may not need to freeze any. LOL. I do know that when my girl was sick after her surgery, she was able to find the pill and spit it out. So this doesn't always work, but it is worth a try if the turkey sausage causes tummy upset.
My little girl likes cream cheese. I only have 1 dog who gets 1 pill per month, so she gets whipped cream cheese. She loves it. It might be worth a try.
My boy takes a tablet and a capsule twice a day. I make a meatball with a pate dog food and put both pills in it and he takes it, no problem. He gets excited when he sees me get the can of dog food out of the fridge.
I had a schnauzer who had to take meds twice a day. She was very clever at removing the capsule from whatever I tried to hide it in. In desperation I finally tried braunschweiger (or liverwurst) and my little German puppy loved it! 😂 Not sure of the fat content, but you can use such a small amount that I don’t 0:26 think it would be an issue. Good luck with that picky sweet boy! ❤️
Kim I have a throat condition that makes me have to cut up or crush tablets to take them and I open up capsules and empty the contents into my mouth and wash it down with water or juice because I can't swallow capsules. I know the taste is usually bitter when you crush tablets but maybe if you empty the contents out of the capsules and then wrap them in the cheese it might make it easier for Mozzie to take. I hope it's not the size that's a problem for him as well.
I give my big cat Archie an antibiotic for his respiratory issues and it is compounded into a liquid by a compounding pharmacy. I wonder if Mozzie's meds could be compounded and mixed together into a liquid for AM and another for the PM? Draw up in a syringe, open mouth, squirt in. They get used to it.
Ok, when I have to give the pills or tablets. I put the one in the cheese/capsules to him first but have the one he likes the most (the hotdog) in front of him ready to give it that way he will swallow the cheese first anxious to get the hotdog. This is what I found works with ours. I don't like putting pills down the throat either and I feel for you it is very frustrating when they just spit it out.
I don't know if you have it solved it yet or not. I'll add my 2 cents of what worked. If there is any canned dog food he can have (not runny, but more formed, think cranberry sauce but dog food) i take a teaspoon and scoop a curved piece out lay the pill on it, fold it around pill. Like a canned dog food pill meatball style. I suggest gloves as it is messy but worked for me. But you need gloves anyway for his one pill.
Kim,maybe try a different type of cheese, maybe ricotta or something,I'm not sure of the fat content, that's a lot of tablets mozzie has to take, the Turkey sausages were a hit with the boys❤❤
They are sooo smart. I don’t know if they small the medicine or taste a foul taste but my girl fights to take any pills too. I’ve tried cheese and hot dogs, pepperoni, ham ….she eats the meat but leaves the pill. I just come up behind her, outstretch her chin up, open her mouth and put it as far back as I can. Then close the mouth, keep the chin up and massage the throat until she swallows. Sometimes that works, sometimes it takes 3 tries. I just hope her meds can be in liquid form. Then I syringe it in.
They can’t function with cones on or at least they think they can’t function with cones on 😂 My boy gets a heart worm tablet every month and he’s very good at taking it. It looks like a bit of meat so we break it up and mix it in his kibble at dinner time. He doesn’t leave a scrap. There’s another one he takes every 3 months for ticks and same thing he takes it very well. Could you disguise the capsule in Mozzie’s kibble?
Take the pills for mom Mozzie 💊 Wonder if thay taste different than before? No advice sorry, hope he change his mind about taking them. Poor Miggy-its a test of patience lol. Good to rest also 😉 Feel better Miggy. (You tube changed my username to my old one- But its still me Muzti) .Happy Friday!
Everyone has great ideas but I will add Mine. Mine could smell them and I tried a million things. I ended up smearing capsule in a little peanut butter. Disguised the smell. Wrapped that in cheese. Worked. But Lord it was frustrating
Does Mozzie ever spit the pill and eat the cheese. My Fritz used to spit it into his beard so I would open his mouth and put it on the back of his tongue.
I just love them! ❤Do u know why they love to rest their neck/head on your leg? Charlie has to have some part of his body on me when I’m on the sofa or in the bed. 😅It makes me so hot 🥵
Hi Kim! Stubborn schnauzers!!! NOT Just Mozzie! Like you, when my Ashkeigh lll, mini schnauzer, needs to take a pill ; I do a one-two-three method. So happy to see Mr Grant doing so good 🥰🥰🥰
Miiggy is my kind of dog, one tough little dude.❤️

It's good to see him being his feisty self..you can't keep him from his ball.. Mozzie is being a little stinker ...love your dogs 💖

Mozzie such a cute little toot. I laughed at poor Miggy. Silly boy with the cone.
So great to see Miggy being his usual feisty, playful self! And his little growls with the cone on are too funny.
Oh Kim, God bless you raking care of these boys!! That Mozzie is being a pickle. I'm sure you'll succeed, but try not to get too frustrated! ❤🙏👑✝
What a great idea with the turkey hot dogs! I am going to look for them. Milo and Magnum were so cute wanting their bite. So glad to see Miggy and Grant doing well.
Oh I love your videos !
Miggy spunky as ever .
They were so cute waiting for their treats ….great idea for the pills 😍love seeing Kitten and Merlin ❤
So happy to see Miggy wants to play ball, i love how fiesty and tough he is. Just love him ❤❤❤❤❤
The boys made me giggle. Especially Milo and Marley, ready to get the first to get in line for treats. Oh, poor Miggy with the cone of shame 😢 Lol
Miggy unbelievable ❤ your a great Mom…it’s a hard job with 7 doggies.
Miggy is so cute. He says his foot is fine. 😂 we use sweet potato for pills. Microwave it in one of those potato pockets and it forms easy into little balls. They don’t even have to chew it because it’s so soft. Very healthy too which is nice.
Even with a bum paw, Miggy is always ready to play ball!!! My guys don't get fooled by pill pockets. They do better wrapping the pill in bologna.

Miniature Schnauzers are the best. I am on my 2nd one. My first one past at14. I will always have a Schnauzer ❤

We have had the Smokey haze here in Wisconsin the last few days.
I've been coughing for 2 weeks here in north eastern Oklahoma I keep wondering if it's the smoke from Canada

You can buy vet wrap at most pets stores. It sticks to itself.

Not sure
I finally admitted defeat and started crushing the pups pills and added a bit of water and used a syringe. No more fight and struggle.
Have you tried adding peanut butter to the treats? Or to the cheese?
Ok, when I have to give the pills or tablets. I put the one in the cheese/capsules to him first but have the one he likes the most (the hotdog) in front of him ready to give it that way he will swallow the cheese first anxious to get the hotdog. This is what I found works with ours. I don't like putting pills down the throat either and I feel for you it is very frustrating when they just spit it out.
Cute puppers
Try putting pills in between little "slabs" of Pate style cat food. Yum. It works for a picky schnoodle named Dunkin
Miggy is ready to play ball again.
Love you all....hugs from California.💘💗💓💞💙💜💕
He loves that ball Kim how is the other dog doing
Kim,maybe try a different type of cheese, maybe ricotta or something,I'm not sure of the fat content, that's a lot of tablets mozzie has to take, the Turkey sausages were a hit with the boys❤❤
Are the turkey franks high in sodium?
I have a sure way to give pills-wrap them in a bit of soft bread.
No he’d eat around them lol
@@SchnauzerMom he’s too clever 😂
You need to be careful with this smoke. We have not been outside all day because of warning.
Hi Kim! Do you allow the boys to have peanut butter?
No
Would creme cheese, peanut butter or liverwurst work?
Thanks for the ideas
Did you think about using peanut butter?
Take the pills for mom Mozzie 💊 Wonder if thay taste different than before? No advice sorry, hope he change his mind about taking them. Poor Miggy-its a test of patience lol. Good to rest also 😉 Feel better Miggy. (You tube changed my username to my old one- But its still me Muzti) .Happy Friday!
Everyone has great ideas but I will add
Mine. Mine could smell them and I tried a million things. I ended up smearing capsule in a little peanut butter. Disguised the smell. Wrapped that in cheese. Worked. But Lord it was frustrating
Good idea
Can you empty the contents of the capsule and put it in a hotdog and give it to him that way?
Does Mozzie ever spit the pill and eat the cheese. My Fritz used to spit it into his beard so I would open his mouth and put it on the back of his tongue.
No
Sweet babies
I bought my pill pockets in Menards milk bone brand chicken flavor for $3.59 you get 25 pockets plus you get 11% off
We eat those franks, they’re delicious! Love the boys!
I’ll have to cook a couple up to try
@@SchnauzerMom let me know what you think!
I just love them! ❤Do u know why they love to rest their neck/head on your leg? Charlie has to have some part of his body on me when I’m on the sofa or in the bed. 😅It makes me so hot 🥵
They all carry love fire
I boil chicken & put the capsule inside a small ball of chicken. Mine swallows it. Good luck😊
Can they use peanut butter?
Never tried it
What about a pill pouch? You can get what looks like a treat and the pill is hidden inside it.
Kim said the pill pouches are expensive and you don’t get many in a package, and 5 of the pups have to take pills.❤️
I talked about them in the video
How about peanut butter
