The characters are pretty balanced here, no one is the best. There are characters that do pretty well as AI but not if controlled. Usually, DPS chars are only good when controlled.
i dont play io but from my experiences in co op it seems like she is one of the best characters if you like to play a lot of open matchmaking and are willing to learn her tech. i personally prefer playing eugen
Its good to look away from the dummy tests for these for sure. Plenty of characters get inflated damage when their mechanics benefit highly from link attacks and you get them so consistently on dummy. Also it doesn't show the true damage potential of most attacks with large aoes that hit multiple parts like the majority of bosses have. Likewise with characters with better chase mechanics for uptime when bosses move. Glad some extra thought was put into this beyond the 60 second rotation cycles.
My absolute fav thing about the way this game was handled is that no character is vastly inferior to the rest of the cast. From a min max standpoint sure there are front runners, but everyone has some sort of very useful utility if they aren't just pushing out straight DPS that can still help the fight end faster
Some note on Rackam, his Aerial Shotgun is not the only attack that has absurd damage cap. Slag slot also have the absurdly high damage cap, the Jp community dub it as Wind Bomb/Wind Bullet. Its the same wind Aerial Shotgun that you need tp be upclose to make all the wind bullet hit, but it can melt 10% of probaha HP by just doing that. You can even see it here 12:12 that the damade score jump even tho not all the bullet hit the dummy. What i like about this wind bomb/bullet tech is that you can use the skill both as aoe and boss killer.
I'm surprised Zeta didn't at least get an honorable mention. She takes a while to get used to, for sure... but constantly being in the air on certain fights makes certain mechanics significantly easier to deal with, especially since you'll be avoiding a lot of things by maintaining your aerial loop. Of course, her Arves Hammer does the most damage of her kit, but sometimes it's best to just stay in the air and avoid things. Though she can be very frustrating to play at times since the boss moving even in the slightest can mess up your timing windows... even with Crimson Flight.
The Lock-on SOMETIMES helps... but definitely doesn't help at all when the body part you've locked onto moves more than a piece of paper in a hurricane.
When the boss moves, you should use hammer even prematurely to chase it instead of trying to loop and miss. Hammer has absurd tracking, so unless the target moves from one end of the arena to another, it won’t miss.
True. Hammer has better tracking than ariel loop. But when the boss jumps away, Zeta will likely hammer a random trash mob if there is any nearby. This forces me to lock on boss. Even so, if the boss jumps too far away, it may be unlocked.
@@yanfr0818 You should not play this game without lock on if you want to specifically target on enemy specifically because the auto lock is not reliable at all. Maybe it's hard to do with M&K but I find it very easy with controller because the lock is controlled by holding down the button which means I can lock, release and relock at will
Pretty sure they'll patch skill dmg cap bug and fast charge attack abused for Percival. I tested by not using its on dummy, the dmg is massively loss, you have to remove attack buff skill for full attack skill set and runs full quick cooldown+cascade to compensated these.
Bugged into oblivion Rackam, Percival and Vaseraga are followed by Eugen, Naramaya and Charlotta. Latter 3 are played as intended, so they should be the best next.
Eugen, Rackam, Lancelot. Zeta deals the highest damage against stationary targets, but loses out if she has to move alot. Which is where Eugen and Rackam shine due to being ranged. Lancelot is close to Zeta in DPS, but more consistent and he has glaciate. Source: AFK farmed every proud mission 100+ times each on many different teams involving 12 maxed out CPU characters. I have a video of afk Proto on my channel (8:30), but I've gotten a 7 minute run after that with better gear and some adjustments.
Not all characters do same amount of damage in those burst windows tho. And also, bosses get cc immunity when on bloodthirst, which is probably around 40-50%% of the endgame fights
Including bugs in these tier lists makes it really hard for late players to have any concept of who is good now. The top 2 characters in this list abuse bugs that have both been fixed, so this video is now misinformation.
i like the extra thought and reasoning put into practical play. i also appreciate explaining some of the runner ups. honestly im a bit surprised ferry didnt make it here honestly th great thing about this game is that so many characters can be considered "good" it depends on your definition of good
As Djeeta main I'm happy to see her on the list. Been having fun with her since story mode and one of the first I fully awaken the Terminus weapon. The only thing a bit annoying is only to build up the Arts level where in some instances the Arts level suddenly go down for no reason, dunno if it is a bug or no.

How honor point in this game work, when I play with a good Cagliostro he always get mvp most of the time Since we play together he got mvp around 348-349 from 350 game , I remember only 1-2 game he didn't got mvp is from proto bahamut with aerial rackham
I cycled through characters when I was doing the story, and when it came to Rackam's turn I was shocked at how much I was destroying everything. Also Narmaya is my favourite to play because... you know 😏
It is insane that all high DPS characters are mostly ranged type. I mean what's the point playing melee, just go party with 2 eugene 2 rackam. EZ GAME. They need to do rebalance on all characters.

While Io is pretty bad against the dummy, she has a thing that a lot of characters don't: she is able to charge and start precasting when the boss is doing a bloodthirst or simply in downtime, which translates to a lot more damage over the whole fight. While a character like Narmaya or Rackam might outdamage her against an immobile target or in link time, she has the capabilities to be flexible depending on the fight without losing any part of her kit.
hot take- even though her 60 second damage test isn't great, i think cag has the best dps uptime of anyone in the cast. you can feasibly never stop attacking with her and i believe this leads to her contending for at the very least 6th-7th place in practice. (full cascade/qcd/supp/untouchable). i can solo bosses much faster (no NPC) with her than narmaya, who i have about equal playtime with.
You are actually sleeping on Cag, shes capable of dealing insane amount of dmg numbers rn where u can delete most things in Link time, her paintrain is beyond busted and all bosses except the human ones are big enough for her to hit all her spears. Have seen her do above 60mil dps in Pyet-a with spamming Pain trains in Link time.
i dont care how stupid broken Rackam and Eugen are, i refuse to play a gunner in this game. This is a fantasy game with swords and magic, not a 3rd person shooter. I actually like Rackam, he's voiced by Hirata Hiroaki, i love that VA, it's Sanji's VA.
@@Hadeshi.Theres like 10 PROTAGONISTS I can think of that can use guns, not even counting side characters, and many more main characters like laguna, prompto, sazh and barret that use guns, and all the random npcs and main enemies you have to fight in all the different games that use guns.
eugen is my fav. love the feeling of sticknig 3 glowing balls onto a monsters head and exploding it with a charged shot lmao. and hes the only old timer talkin about old timer shit where everyone else slots into a popular anime archetype. but after a while eventually got bored and had to go into some melee stuff. cag and narmaya are my other two. narmaya specifically is pretty satisfying learning her stance switching and loops. im not sure who i want to try out next tho. its either rackam, zeta, vaseraga, djeeta, or percival.
I main Lancelot in Versus so I Decided to main him again in Relink. Man, he is so much fun to play, tho I have to admit that fighting againts flying boss is kinda annoying.
Ghanda's my main even if people call him trash or whatever. Not gotten to endgame yet but I've seen that he's rarely picked. I see it as a positive though if he really is that bad and I still get good with him I'll become a monster if he ever gets any buffs later down the road.
Around which point of the game should you actually start grinding? I felt that when I unlocked extreme difficulty the spike in difficulty increased and takes longer to clear the quests needed for clearing chapter zero. Is this a good time to start looking for grinding spots?
as long as you max your mastery points and get 100% crit rate which is easy to get with one single sigil, you should farm the quest that gives DMG CAP sigils and you obliterate everything after.
This is all personal conjecture. I've been playing for a week solid and as Yodarha, it's funny how people choose slow large damage characters and think they are the "highest" DPS output. Sigil build really matters. All characters are virtually even due to the damage cap system, you cannot deal more damage than the system caps. Useless informational video yet again.
I wonder how upset would the community would get if the devs decided to crack down on all the dodge/cancel animation tech that so many characters use to increase their damage uptime.
It's really hard to take this seriously when the characters at your top spots are there because of bugs or unintended effects. Also saying Io isn't in the Top 5 is pretty wack; hell, she should be Top 3 (as should Vaseraga too). Yes, she has a somewhat high skill ceiling, but like most things in this game, once you get the muscle memory down, her damage is easily some of the most ridiculous. It's just less burst and more sustained; a lot of things that melee have to disengage for, she doesn't.
IO shines at lower difficulties and simple single boss fights without many mechanics but in difficult quests where the whole screen is full of crap to dodge non stop with very little windows to actually deal damage or parry or dodge without losing your charge or combo she falls off flat because there aren't that many openers for her to sit and charge. Late game bosses just fill whole arena with aoes and she has no way of dealing with storing her charge or combo.
@@RobertFierceThat's just not true at all, and I say that from maining her. Her Stargaze has Stout Heart on it built in, so she's never going to interrupted while charging it up, and if you have to dodge something for some reason, the Stargaze charge gets paused, not lost. I've taken her to every Proud quest and there is very little that forces her to stop doing damage; she doesn't even care about most bosses being in Bloodthirst. Sure, the boss may have a damage cut while it's up, but she can keep punching through it at range, while others (mostly melee that don't have some kind of invuln like Charlotta or Vaseraga) have to stop.
Narmaya is just strict downgrade from Charlotta. She has 105% (as in 5% more) of Charlotta's damage, while having 5% of her survivability and mobility. PS: Also btw, that minor damage difference will even out in actual boss fight, where Charlotta's mobility allows her to stay on target. Factor in the increase in uptime and you end up with Naramaya being the same damage, just ... worse at everything else.
I really hope they patch Rackams stupid jumping tech and Eugens block grenades and Percival's infinity charged attack skill cancel abuse. I hate when characters have a crappy, glitchy and boring way to play them optimally.
I'm curious why Lance didn't make it to the top. I'm in no way saying you are wrong, but, he sticks to em like glue and his Rarely if Ever mentioned Glaciate ability is OP AF (I know, that doesn't cause damage but it sure does a lot for the team). That and ya know.. being invincible forever is pretty cool.
Other characters can stick to bosses about as well. Glaciate is good but requires him to channel it for its full effect so hes not dealing good damage while its active. Things like Eugen’s paralyze shot are just better. Hes only invincible forever if you build around flight over fight, which is neat and all but im pretty sure its worse damage than just a normal dos build. He is overall really good still.
Zeta is really disrespected here as she is one of the strongest dps and stronger than most character presented on this top from my experience. Also the most skilled character in the game with all her counter who make her insanely satisfying once you mastered all her mechanic.
In term of pure damage yes, but in term of dps no, since you need to aim the grenade manually and stack them first before blow it compare with spamming Y/right click + guard button
imo gotta look away from dummy tests lol Ferry does a stupid amount of dmg to large enemies (aka most bosses, especially proto bahamut) with both her launch attack combo and onslaught
i expected zeta to be in this list, cause i'd say zeta outdps percival if played without the canceling skill. (Which let's be honest and not cope its not intended).
Definitely my playstyle is not onto some braindead tech repeating same button all over again (you know which characters they are). But I also consider the "looks" of my waifu/husbando into the mix 😂
Just started the game a few days ago and cant for tge life of me beat bahamut versa for proud, i've been trying to upgrade my damage caps sigil for now to try and get over the dps check... I thought i was already in end game and bahamut just obliterates me 😅. Lovin the grund though!!
Well I just finished getting the plat trophy after almost 200 hours so I'm kinda done with the game and got time to help you if you play on Playstation. There is no cross play so if you are on PC or Xbox I can't help but if you play on PS I can come help. All that is left to do for me is farm Curios for supp damage V+ sigils so it doesn't matter which missions I do as long as they are proud for higher quality curios.

Aight, here's what I get from my testing with max damage builds. (no need for "with this sigil") 1. Eugen. Paralyze, defense down, consistently the highest damage done because he's always going to be dealing damage. (Damage done > dps). 2. Percival. He's got solid damage but what really gets him up there is his link-time abilities. 3. Yodarha. He's always able to attack due to invincibility baked into his kit, he's super fast so he's always attacking and he has one of the most consistent burst abilities on demand of any character. Characters I'd EXCLUDE because they are not practical dps: Io, Vaseraga, Rosetta. Io takes too long to charge and her actual dps is not that high for this disadvantage. Vaseraga is really only good against stationary bosses. Anything that moves is going to make his damage done plummet. Rosetta's skills don't seem to scale and just like Io/Vaseraga, she's got lower damage and not really anything to make up for it. Ironically: Cagliostro is a good dps if you have the sigils/build.

sieg currently i think more like a support character bc of his buff skills.. he rlly need more buff, like increasing more damage for his timed attack, to make his playstyle more rewarding. and zeta too..
Very surprised Io didn't make it into top 5... as far as i've seen Io has a faster time than Narmaya while soloing Gall/Mag fight which is probably the hardest fight in the game, something doesn't add up...
soloing a fight is different from a straight up Damage ranking, and especially with that fight where you won't have as many opening as a melee and will have to cancel combos often, compared to ranged characters. Also I don't see how clear time comparisons are that efficient as it is dependent on player skill and some RNG on the boss's attacks
So damn frustrated with this game irs unreal. Farming these stupid terminus weapons bad enough the drop rate is horrendous but then to have the crappy game and it's crappy online crash after I finally get the Weapon for my main to get back on and find its not there so I lost it, went back fought him 4 more times again and nothing. Man I am beyond annoyed lol especially since I also need it for the dang Trophy too.
Playing Rackam like that is the most boring thing in the world and I refuse to do that. I really don't care if he is top dps if his gameplay is that boring. Also guns suck in fantasy games anyway.
Tbh they should nerf only roter bug and put an internal cd on the areal shotgun move, make it like 5/6 seconds before you can shoot again. As long as dmg cap works as it does now, we kinda need all the shenanigans we can get to squeeze out as much damage as possible. Also dodge cancels and most of all combo skip dodges are so fun, I’d be sad if they were removed.
i love the game but its kinda boring to me that the strongest gamestyle is abusing mechanics and spaming 1 broken attack over and over lol like come on who wants to throw grenades non stop....

Buffs / debuffs add a LOT of points. Also Aerial Rackam doesn't use skills which give a lot of points as well

eugen is my fav. love the feeling of sticknig 3 glowing balls onto a monsters head and exploding it with a charged shot lmao. and hes the only old timer talkin about old timer shit where everyone else slots into a popular anime archetype. but after a while eventually got bored and had to go into some melee stuff. cag and narmaya are my other two. narmaya specifically is pretty satisfying learning her stance switching and loops. im not sure who i want to try out next tho. its either rackam, zeta, vaseraga, djeeta, or percival.
I main Lancelot in Versus so I Decided to main him again in Relink. Man, he is so much fun to play, tho I have to admit that fighting againts flying boss is kinda annoying.
there is no need for less is more for vaserage you can easily cap him with max attack up cap
I used id for the terminus weapon grind and he absolutely tears if you build him right, goated character

Ghanda's my main even if people call him trash or whatever. Not gotten to endgame yet but I've seen that he's rarely picked. I see it as a positive though if he really is that bad and I still get good with him I'll become a monster if he ever gets any buffs later down the road.

Around which point of the game should you actually start grinding? I felt that when I unlocked extreme difficulty the spike in difficulty increased and takes longer to clear the quests needed for clearing chapter zero. Is this a good time to start looking for grinding spots?

as long as you max your mastery points and get 100% crit rate which is easy to get with one single sigil, you should farm the quest that gives DMG CAP sigils and you obliterate everything after.

I've been playing for a week solid and as Yodarha, it's funny how people choose slow large damage characters and think they are the "highest" DPS output.
Sigil build really matters.
All characters are virtually even due to the damage cap system, you cannot deal more damage than the system caps.

I wonder how upset would the community would get if the devs decided to crack down on all the dodge/cancel animation tech that so many characters use to increase their damage uptime.
It's really hard to take this seriously when the characters at your top spots are there because of bugs or unintended effects.
Also saying Io isn't in the Top 5 is pretty wack; hell, she should be Top 3 (as should Vaseraga too). Yes, she has a somewhat high skill ceiling, but like most things in this game, once you get the muscle memory down, her damage is easily some of the most ridiculous. It's just less burst and more sustained; a lot of things that melee have to disengage for, she doesn't.
At this point I don't even know any more which feature is intended and which is not. Almost every character is bugged and nothing has been fixed.
IO shines at lower difficulties and simple single boss fights without many mechanics but in difficult quests where the whole screen is full of crap to dodge non stop with very little windows to actually deal damage or parry or dodge without losing your charge or combo she falls off flat because there aren't that many openers for her to sit and charge. Late game bosses just fill whole arena with aoes and she has no way of dealing with storing her charge or combo.
@@RobertFierceThat's just not true at all, and I say that from maining her. Her Stargaze has Stout Heart on it built in, so she's never going to interrupted while charging it up, and if you have to dodge something for some reason, the Stargaze charge gets paused, not lost. I've taken her to every Proud quest and there is very little that forces her to stop doing damage; she doesn't even care about most bosses being in Bloodthirst. Sure, the boss may have a damage cut while it's up, but she can keep punching through it at range, while others (mostly melee that don't have some kind of invuln like Charlotta or Vaseraga) have to stop.
I just like playing Id and going apeshit with Godmight.
I use so many others when i play serious mostly rackam on protobah but godmight ID is one of the funnest

Narmaya is just strict downgrade from Charlotta. She has 105% (as in 5% more) of Charlotta's damage, while having 5% of her survivability and mobility.
PS: Also btw, that minor damage difference will even out in actual boss fight, where Charlotta's mobility allows her to stay on target. Factor in the increase in uptime and you end up with Naramaya being the same damage, just ... worse at everything else.
If we exclude bugs, the strongest is easily Eugen. I won't put Vaserega that high, he's situationally good, depending on what boss he's facing.
How do you get him powerful? I have everything except terminus weapon but other is lvl 150

I really hope they patch Rackams stupid jumping tech and Eugens block grenades and Percival's infinity charged attack skill cancel abuse. I hate when characters have a crappy, glitchy and boring way to play them optimally.
I'm curious why Lance didn't make it to the top. I'm in no way saying you are wrong, but, he sticks to em like glue and his Rarely if Ever mentioned Glaciate ability is OP AF (I know, that doesn't cause damage but it sure does a lot for the team). That and ya know.. being invincible forever is pretty cool.
Other characters can stick to bosses about as well.
Glaciate is good but requires him to channel it for its full effect so hes not dealing good damage while its active. Things like Eugen’s paralyze shot are just better.
Hes only invincible forever if you build around flight over fight, which is neat and all but im pretty sure its worse damage than just a normal dos build.
He is overall really good still.

Zeta is really disrespected here as she is one of the strongest dps and stronger than most character presented on this top from my experience.
Also the most skilled character in the game with all her counter who make her insanely satisfying once you mastered all her mechanic.

In term of pure damage yes, but in term of dps no, since you need to aim the grenade manually and stack them first before blow it compare with spamming Y/right click + guard button

as a Narmaya main, it frustrates me so much that her kit involves so much RNG. I hope her sigils get some rework/buff
If you play on PC there is a mod that increases the percentage of her sigil from 50 to 75 or 100% to not consume butterflies.

Just started the game a few days ago and cant for tge life of me beat bahamut versa for proud, i've been trying to upgrade my damage caps sigil for now to try and get over the dps check... I thought i was already in end game and bahamut just obliterates me 😅. Lovin the grund though!!
Well I just finished getting the plat trophy after almost 200 hours so I'm kinda done with the game and got time to help you if you play on Playstation. There is no cross play so if you are on PC or Xbox I can't help but if you play on PS I can come help. All that is left to do for me is farm Curios for supp damage V+ sigils so it doesn't matter which missions I do as long as they are proud for higher quality curios.
@@RobertFierce thanks for the offer mate but I actually just done it a while ago! 2 potion hoarders and just stacked damage cap. I did learn most of his moves at the end as I kept on dying 🤣

Aight, here's what I get from my testing with max damage builds. (no need for "with this sigil")
1. Eugen. Paralyze, defense down, consistently the highest damage done because he's always going to be dealing damage.
(Damage done > dps).
2. Percival. He's got solid damage but what really gets him up there is his link-time abilities.
3. Yodarha. He's always able to attack due to invincibility baked into his kit, he's super fast so he's always attacking and he has one of the most consistent burst abilities on demand of any character.
Characters I'd EXCLUDE because they are not practical dps: Io, Vaseraga, Rosetta.
Io takes too long to charge and her actual dps is not that high for this disadvantage.
Vaseraga is really only good against stationary bosses. Anything that moves is going to make his damage done plummet.
Rosetta's skills don't seem to scale and just like Io/Vaseraga, she's got lower damage and not really anything to make up for it.
Ironically: Cagliostro is a good dps if you have the sigils/build.
I play Percival to brain dead bop things for millions of damage.
But I main Yordha because I'm not basic af.
EUGEN is the strongest character in the game, base on AI performance + when you play him
i just hope they boost Siegfried, he is the most fun to play but he require to much setup for little damage output he do.
He does pretty well for AI though. The AI almost always does perfect Siegfried combos

sieg currently i think more like a support character bc of his buff skills.. he rlly need more buff, like increasing more damage for his timed attack, to make his playstyle more rewarding. and zeta too..

as far as i've seen Io has a faster time than Narmaya while soloing Gall/Mag fight which is probably the hardest fight in the game, something doesn't add up...
soloing a fight is different from a straight up Damage ranking, and especially with that fight where you won't have as many opening as a melee and will have to cancel combos often, compared to ranged characters. Also I don't see how clear time comparisons are that efficient as it is dependent on player skill and some RNG on the boss's attacks

So damn frustrated with this game irs unreal. Farming these stupid terminus weapons bad enough the drop rate is horrendous but then to have the crappy game and it's crappy online crash after I finally get the Weapon for my main to get back on and find its not there so I lost it, went back fought him 4 more times again and nothing. Man I am beyond annoyed lol especially since I also need it for the dang Trophy too.

Playing Rackam like that is the most boring thing in the world and I refuse to do that. I really don't care if he is top dps if his gameplay is that boring. Also guns suck in fantasy games anyway.

Man, must of taken you a while to get this kind of information without just using big numbers.
Tbh they should nerf only roter bug and put an internal cd on the areal shotgun move, make it like 5/6 seconds before you can shoot again.
As long as dmg cap works as it does now, we kinda need all the shenanigans we can get to squeeze out as much damage as possible.
Also dodge cancels and most of all combo skip dodges are so fun, I’d be sad if they were removed.

MVP isn't about damage. Buffs / Debuffs, blocks and heals, all of that contributes a lot more than just damage
