I use one of these a lot as a bushcraft instructor, it's very useful for building stools and shelters, I always keep the shavings for starting the fire
I have one of these and watched this to make sure I was using it right (looking back idk how you would use it wrong) but I will take the end of the stick I'm putting into the bored hole wand will baton a knife into it a tad bit and make a wedge so that it wont come apart.
I just received a notice and my auger is coming tomorrow finally lol, I had one before but very cheap and it broke so this one should last longer I hope, your branch was already pretty small and didn't take much wood, that's ok but if you use a bigger branch you'll see that it get stuck and hard to take it out, put some Vaseline or oil/grease around the inside first and it will come out easier, if you know witch plants available in the woods too, I use bacon grease one time lol, if you need to make a big hole all the way to a log better get a longer bit model and these are for hole 3-5 inches deep, can't wait to try this new model. ')
@@OSMEtv I tried it last Friday and it's much better than the other one I got before, 2 times easier to work with but didn't bring anything to lubricate and I just spit on it and it worked better than I thought so another way when you don't have anything in hand. ')
My wife bought me one today. I'm looking forward to trying it!

We loved the tool. Great suggestion to save the shavings for fire starting.
Thanks!
I've got one coming in the mail. Can't wait to try
Quite often simple is better and this tool is definitly simple. Looks good.
