i gotta few things i wanna say. 1st, this event was highly significant. JSU's Band was in the mist of the controversy about the state flag and how it resembles racism and hatred. There was people waving around confederate flags while this band was performing, so just imagine how these band members felt. I wanna thank the entire JSU Sonic Boom of the South for putting on an excellent performance, and truly exhibiting great musicianship on behalf of all the HBCU's across this nation. All i see is people bashing this band for not performing the music to their standards, but this event is not about that. Yall need to see the bigger picture and understand what this band did for JSU, the state of Mississippi, and black people all across America .. Thank You Jackson State University
Even in the face of racism and stupidity, the boom do it will class and grace. Much love from the UK, I will always love the Sonic Boom of the South, Bonedog, Provine Class Of 89.
The band and dancers look and sound GREAT! Wow; I never knew they were THIS good until I just heard this performance of Start and Stripes forever!I have a new respect for J.S.U. now! Keep up the GOOD work!!
Roderick Little will eventually be the director of bands I believe. Dowell Taylor retired earlier than expected, and O'Neil Sanford was placed in the director of bands spot temporarily. Taylor set it up...so Little would be his successor....anyway. Dr. Sanford is a really great director & great person though.... But, Don't worry...Little will get that head position....lol! Its already been in the works. & The Alumni will make damn sure of it....lol!!!
That performance was totally amazing and awesome. They need to perform that on national television and it's perfect Harmony all the around. It sounds just like the original piece. Good job SONIC BOOM OF THE SOUTH. I can't stop watching because the piccolos section was totally outstanding and they sounded wonderful
I'm trying to figure out why people from or fans of famu are hating on this performance. Can someone please tell me the last time that band was relevant
Tom Joyner brother, Al Joyner, owned the MC Donald's by the school and 22 other MC Donald in the metro..... He was a big supporter from what I understand.... RIP Al Joyner
I saw a clip of miles playing get ready in the early 90s . It was jsu exact arrangement. I think they recently developed some sort of identity and before it was another Talladega and southern situation however back then there wasn’t TH-cam
Nice sound jsu, but don't you even dare, try n and play stars and stripes at famu, especially with the pic walkout solo thing. Famu is rebuilding but on god they woodwinds and picc will run circles around that sound. Especially that picc solo in stars and stripes. But you all sound absolutely amazing. Very clean, warm, dark sound.

Kristian Ruffin so true what you said
Watching this video makes me feel disturbed inside I probably wouldn’t have performed
I saw that too. Very surprised to see that in the crowd while the band is playing. Not sure what that person is trying to do or trying to say.
Someone posted a better picture of what you’re talking about and it pissed me off

One of the most complete bands I've ever seen. They don't need to live up to anyone's standards except their own! #SonicBoom

Thats pure talent. Sound is clear. Horns are on point. Flutes are the best of the best. Their airflow is endless.

JSU rocks the house
Just posted the image of them racist flying them confederate flags in front. I commend JSU for standing tall
they suppose to have 300+
There was a little bit of hesitation in the first song when the trumpets started playing. Everything was good besides that.
thought Little was head director?
Mr. Little is Marching Band Director
+JSU Bands Gotcha. Preciate it.
+JSU Bands whos the head director
+Braiton Jenkins Mr. O'Neill Sanford
+Braiton Jenkins Mr. Oneil Sandford.

I wonder how many people know that Miles copy everything JSU plays. I played this to some people, and they swear it was Miles.
